CLARENCE ELSTAD purchased this Apartment in 1982
Why CLARENCE ELSTAD chose Mukilteo

Friendly and thoughtful host
We appreciated being welcomed so warmly by Toni, even though Clarence was away during our stay. The fresh eggs, homemade wine, and new potatoes from the garden were wonderful treats. Not having to rush out for food and having staples was a big plus, especially since we arrived by plane and after a week long cruise. The beds were comfortable and although a tad small overall the apartment was fine for 3 days and the 3 of us. We all enjoyed the many souvenirs displayed from Clarence's travels and our 13 year old especially appreciated the novel salt shaker from Holland. I did not realize until we arrived that there was no dishwasher. Kitchen was adequately stocked. (Lots of wine glasses and what we needed for cooking but we would have liked a few more dinner knives and drinking glasses.) It was very pleasant to hang out in the backyard with the free range chickens after short drives to great hiking and a visit to the Boeing Factory. It was a little disconcerting to find out about the house rules after we booked it (e.g., no shoes in the apartment, Clarence has food in the freezer and lots of wine stored throughout the apartment not for your use, the washer and dryer are only for use if you stay a week, leave the apartment cleaner than you found it) even though we had no problem with any of these requests. Otherwise the description and other reviews are accurate and we felt like this was reasonably priced for a great location and pleasant get away.
Glad you enjoyed the food and the bottle of wine that was provided.
As for the laundry, I have had people come for 2 nights and do 4 or 5 loads of laundry. (If guests ask, we always let them use the washer and dryer) The same goes for the BBQ. We only ask you to check with the host first. (safety)
There are silver ware knives as well as a complete set of 12 steak knives (located in a knife block) near the stove. I don't know how many knives a person needs?
There are enough drinking glasses for 8 people. There are also cups and wine glasses that can be used for drinking liquids other than wine or coffee/tea.
A list of the rules are on the web site with the listing so there shouldn't be any big surprises.
No shoes in the apartment is a very common expectation for most households.
The beds are a standard sized queen and full bed. I'm sorry if you're taller than the average.
Dishwashers are a big energy waster. (in my opinion)
I understand you had nice weather and saw a little bit of WA on your hike to the Deception Pass area. (one of my favorite places)
Hope your cruise to Alaska was to your satisfaction.
Wishing you the best,
Great host, location, and apartment!
Clarence, the host, and his family were very pleasant, organized, and unobtrusive. The apartment felt very homey and provide all the needed amenities. The location was far enough away from Seattle and close enough to the ocean to provide a relaxing & enjoyable environment; however, Seattle was only about 40 minutes away. Everette was very close and took care all our grocery and shopping needs (Cabelas, outlet mall, casino, and gym are a short drive away).. The backyard contains a beehive, garden, and a quite sitting area. The apartment was roomy enough for two couples and a teenager. Audio, video, and internet are provide: however, there is too much to do outdoors to use it much. Outstanding host, apartment, and location. We will probably book the same location on our next visit.
Perfect! This was like staying at a friends home. The location is the best for relaxing and sight seeing. Loved the Beach with the fire pits and Ferry so close by.
You can find most anything to do around here. I will lend you a GPS for your car so you can go most anywhere. I will arrange to pick you up at Sea-Tac Airport for a fee of $45 for one or two and $60 for up to four people.
