Welcome to peaceful Birdsong Retreat where the quiet serenity is accompanied with birdsong. This spacious, newly built home sits in a sunny yard on 5 acres of beautiful Cedar trees that guests are welcome to enjoy walking in. It is located at the end of a quiet road, very private, yet close to town and amenities - only 10 minutes from the car ferry, and less than 2 miles to the beach and a view of the Olympic Mountains.

The house is fully furnished for guests comfort. You will find all you need in the well-appointed kitchen, including spices. All luxurious linens are provided, including beach towels. Internet, WiFi, and cable TV with flat screen and Blu-Ray, as well as stream Netflix are provided. Listen to your favorite music on the I-Doc station or Pandora. This is a restful place where you can rejuvenate, winter or summer. Rock on the porch or lay back in one of the recliners, curl up with a book in this cozy, quiet haven. The number of birds and other wildlife here are amazing; we've seen great horned owls, bald eagles, and many song birds. It's great for individuals and families. If you wish to venture beyond this property, there is plenty of natural beauty and points of interest, golf courses, hiking trails, parks, as well as quaint towns and shops nearby on this vacation destination Island. We have a guest book with maps and some suggestions at the Retreat.

The house features: spacious vaulted great room with living room (multiple reclining sectional), dining area (seats 6), and kitchen with new stainless steel appliances (also microwave, coffee maker, bagel toaster, Belgian waffle maker, popcorn popper); 2 large bedrooms with queen size beds (luxurious cotton sateen sheets and down comforters), additional convertible queen bed; 2 full bathrooms with showers, tubs (luxury towels, soap, shampoo, and conditioner, hair dryer provided); utility room with washer and dryer (soap and fabric softener provided); iron and board; wood deck with patio dining set and gas grill; covered porches.

Birdsong Retreat- what a treat!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Birdsong for 5 nights. We loved it! The house and furnishings are very clean and new. Beds, linen, towels are all comfortable to use.

Spices and kitchen appliances are thoughtfully placed, not all vrbo homes provide these amenities and it was very helpful to have things like plastic wrap, spices, cooking spray already on hand.

We toured on island to Langley (charming beach town just north) and to Deception Pass State Park (1hr north also on island, beautiful park, many hiking trails). Many local farms and other nature attractions we did not get to see.

We felt like we had privacy and the property was quiet. We arrived at night, so it was somewhat difficult to see if we were on the right private road, but Diane had provided me with directions prior to our arrival and we found it fine. Diane was responsive to any inquiries I had about the property and area. There's also a detailed binder with local attractions. We would definitely stay again!

Owner's Response: Thank you J.T. for your kind words about Birdsong Retreat. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and that you found the house comfortable and well appointed. I really do try to make guests comfortable and it's so nice to have your positive feedback. It's also great to hear how you enjoyed the beautiful natural setting of the house and the surrounding Island area. I'm glad you want to return; the best compliment is repeat guests and referrals. Thanks again J.T., Diane

The house was quite a ways from the main road, but the house was wonderful.

  • 4 of 5

We expected the house to be in a meadow from the pictures. We were there for my son's wedding, so actually didn't spend much time at the house. It had everything we needed. We would stay again. Thank you!

Cute and well appointed hidden jewel

  • 5 of 5

We had everything we could need. Comfort, supplies and peace and quiet. A little challenge to find the street as it is more of a path than a road, we thought we might be trespassing on another's property but it was just well hidden in the woods just beyond another house. Daily visits from deer and bunnies and convenient access to surrounding towns and wineries made this a spot that we would return to.

Extremely cozy and relaxing escape from the city!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay and visited the Earth Sanctuary nearby which I highly recommend!

We enjoyed the board games, fireplace, open living space including the kitchen, and had plenty of room for 6 people to sleep!

The backyard is definitely worth exploring as well and we visited Useless Bay (about a 5 minute drive) covered in driftwood and seafoam!

The kitchen was well stocked and we found it to be a perfect place for quality time with friends :)

Thank you again!

Whidbey Island is a jewel of a vacation destination, located in Puget Sound, just north of Seattle, close enough to the action of the Emerald City (about a 45min drive), yet a world away. Leave your worries behind as you drive onto the ferry (15 minute ride). While standing on the deck, you have a nice view of the Cascades and can watch for seals and dolphins as you take in the scent of the Sound and approach the Island. If you enter Whidbey from the north, you will cross over through Deception Pass; be sure to park at the end to walk the Bridge and take in the rugged scenery. Now you're here, time to relax and have fun! This is a great area for individuals and families. There's so much lovely scenery that lends itself as a backdrop for many occasions -romantic getaways, family reunions, weddings, retreats, or just to get away and relax. It's perfect for many activities; photography, hiking, biking, fishing, drives, antiquing, golfing, yoga classes, beach combing, kayaking, sailing, just to name a few. There are quaint towns and shops nearby on this vacation destination Island.

There are good hiking trails which we have maps for at Birdsong Retreat, as well as our own Cedar treed acreage which guests are welcome to wander in. Visitors can enjoy rhododendron walks at Meerkirk Gardens. The farmers markets give one a good taste of country living as well as food. There are many community events, and an annual Fair.
