Awesome stay on Whidbey Island!
We are a family with young children and stayed on Whidbey for a few days and the home worked great for us. It is spacious and stocked with everything you need. The property is huge with plenty of space for kids to run around. Best of all, you're close to all of the sites on the island. Great stay and highly recommended.
Well appointed and beautiful setting
Our group of five had a fantastic time at Birdsong retreat. Since the address didn't come up on navigation, it was a little tricky to find initially but the directions provided by the owner were very helpful (I just turned down the wrong driveway at first). Going down the surprisingly long (correct) driveway, takes you on a lush, tree lined, single lane road that sets the mood perfectly. Once you get there, it feels like you have the forest to yourself with cozy house to relax in.
Inside, we were able to find everything we needed from kitchen supplies to extra blankets. The beds were all comfy (including the air-mattress) and that quadruple-recliner couch is something special. We spent most of the daylight doing stuff around the island (visiting Langley, a couple fun distillery tours, finding delicious food to eat, etc.) so we didn't get a chance to explore the property. However, at night, we enjoyed sitting on the deck and taking in an excellent view of the stars.
Overall, it's a great location if you want something that feels remote but has the convenience of civilization 15 minutes away. All of us had a great time and there were definitely talks of coming back in the future.
Awesome place to stay
We loved our time here. The location was great, the place was really nice and comfortably slept 6 of us, lots of privacy, very easy to check in and out. It was pretty much a flawless experience, I would highly recommend this place, the owners were super helpful and responsive.
Comforts and nature at it's best
Lovely home, wonderful quiet setting with surrounding nature.
The house was quite a ways from the main road, but the house was wonderful.
We expected the house to be in a meadow from the pictures. We were there for my son's wedding, so actually didn't spend much time at the house. It had everything we needed. We would stay again. Thank you!
Cute and well appointed hidden jewel
We had everything we could need. Comfort, supplies and peace and quiet. A little challenge to find the street as it is more of a path than a road, we thought we might be trespassing on another's property but it was just well hidden in the woods just beyond another house. Daily visits from deer and bunnies and convenient access to surrounding towns and wineries made this a spot that we would return to.
Whidbey Island is a jewel of a vacation destination, located in Puget Sound, just north of Seattle, close enough to the action of the Emerald City (about a 45min drive), yet a world away. Leave your worries behind as you drive onto the ferry (15 minute ride). While standing on the deck, you have a nice view of the Cascades and can watch for seals and dolphins as you take in the scent of the Sound and approach the Island. If you enter Whidbey from the north, you will cross over through Deception Pass; be sure to park at the end to walk the Bridge and take in the rugged scenery. Now you're here, time to relax and have fun! This is a great area for individuals and families. There's so much lovely scenery that lends itself as a backdrop for many occasions -romantic getaways, family reunions, weddings, retreats, or just to get away and relax. It's perfect for many activities; photography, hiking, biking, fishing, drives, antiquing, golfing, yoga classes, beach combing, kayaking, sailing, just to name a few. There are quaint towns and shops nearby on this vacation destination Island. There are good hiking trails which we have maps for at Birdsong Retreat, as well as our own Cedar treed acreage which guests are welcome to wander in. Visitors can enjoy rhododendron walks at Meerkirk Gardens. The farmers markets give one a good taste of country living as well as food. There are many community events, and an annual Fair.
