About Dorita Anza

My husband and I love to travel. We traveled throughout Italy for several years, and fell in love with the Tuscany Region at first sight! We settled into the Sarteano countryside and have enjoyed renovating our new home. We set up our new house with some of the amenities and comforts that we enjoy and have added a modern decor to blend in with the old charm of the Tuscan decor. We hope to make our guests feel comfortable and provide them with assistance to make their stay the best as possible.

Dorita Anza purchased this villa in 2012

Why Dorita Anza chose Sarteano

The property has a special charm which we love. It has a very serene, quiet and tranquil setting in the Tuscan Countryside. It is five minutes from the A1 Autostrada, which allows us to get to many major Italian cities, such as Florence, Siena, Rome and Perugia, It is a five minute drive to the historical town centre with several restaurants, cafes, shops, and supermarket. We like being in the country, but enjoy being close to town as well. We get to enjoy watching some beautiful sunsets from our Patio and Terrace.

What makes this villa unique

Property is private and set among the Tuscan Hills. We enjoy waking up in the morning and seeing the beautiful views out our windows, and then watching the magnificent Sunsets in the evening. There are several wonderful Hot Thermal Springs within a short distance which we enjoy swimming and relaxing in. Waters have a therapeutic effect on the body and the skin. We can return back to the Villa and enjoy eating outdoors and having our local amazing wines while enjoying the beautiful views of Tuscan Hills.

The house was comfortable, nice, clean and in a good location.

  • 4 of 5

The house is very good. The owners was very welcoming and helpful. We had a really good time and recommend this house. We also appreciate the privacy we got.

But Please, Dorita, buy a new mattress for the bed!!! It is so important to have good night sleep, also in vacation. Thanks a lot for your lovely host.

Tali and Amir.

Owner's Response: Hello Tali. Thank you for your kind words on the comfort, cleanliness, and good location of our house. We strive to have our house be very comfortable and clean for our guests We also provide lots of privacy for our guests , but let them know we are available if they need anything. You acknowledged that you appreciated the privacy. I am confused about your complaint about the mattress. The mattress is new and you are the second guest to sleep on it. I also sent you a message a couple of days after your arrival to check on your stay and you responded that everything was very good. I wish you would have informed me of your concern over the mattress and we would have tried to address any issue and insured you were comfortable.

Wonderful place and wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in Dorita and Vincenzo's guest house for four nights in September and loved it. They were very helpful and gracious, and the house is spacious and very comfortable. We loved Tuscany and the convenience that staying in Sarteano provided for exploring the area during this part of our trip to Italy. Sarteano is close to the thermal springs in Chinciano Terme, and there are several good restaurants in the area. One that we particularly enjoyed on our last night there was Tuscany Divine in Chiusi, a short drive from the house. They had a great tasting menu as well as main courses and other options. Dorita can guide you well with other suggestions, in addition.

Perfect location for exploring Tuscany. Peaceful and serine view. Wonderful hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We often rent homes/apartments for our vacations. This one ranks in the top tier. The hosts met us near the house to show us the way. They welcomed us with snacks, a bottle of wine, breakfast for the next day and wonderful suggestions, directions and hospitality.

Wonderful Haven

  • 5 of 5

This was favorite house house during my vacation to Italy. The home is very cute, well equipped, clean, and peaceful. Surroundings are very quiet. The outdoor space and view are breathtaking. There is ample outdoor space with seating to enjoy the scenery. Dorita and Vincent were wonderful hosts! Dorita helped us find local favorites at the grocery store and made other local recommendations. They even met us as the grocery store to help us find their place. These two are so hospitable. I hope to return!

Excellent hosts, beautiful place, great base for Tuscany

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this cute little apartment. Dorita and her husband were very helpful with sightseeing ideas and helped us navigate the area. Even before we arrived, she was very responsive, helpful, and detailed. Not only is her communication detailed, but she carries this excellence into the home. The villa is very well-appointed: nice towels, clean and spacious rooms, a wonderful bottle of wine waiting for you...

The main house where the owners live is right next door but you still feel a sense of privacy - the villa has a private patio off to the side. The house sits at the bottom of a large sloping field and there is a stream that flows on the edge of their property, adding a nice flowing-water sound. The house has a gated driveway and is a few hundred feet down a gravel road, just off the main road.

The hosts are fantastic and the place is a great starting point for adventures all around Tuscany. We found amazing hot springs, incredible vistas, and charming hill-towns all nearby. Dorita has great recommendations! Have fun!

Picture-Perfect Tuscany Experience

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were looking for a place to stay in Tuscany for a few days in between our time in Venice and Rome. Dorita and Vincent's villa exceeded our expectations for a Tuscan countryside experience in every aspect. They are fantastic, accommodating hosts that know the area extremely well, speak both Italian and English (they lived in NYC for many years before moving to Italy a few years ago), and are willing to go the extra mile to help you in any way they can. At the same time, they are also great about respecting your privacy and leaving you to enjoy your time at their guest villa.

When we arrived at the villa, there was a fabulous bottle of wine from a local winery (Gattavecchi) awaiting us, as well as croissants from a local bakery for us to enjoy for breakfast the following morning on the terrace overlooking the rolling hillside. There was also bottled water and coffee. That evening we were without a car because the Hertz office was closed on Sunday, so Dorita and Vincent were kind enough to make a reservation for us and drop us off at a local restaurant Marechiaro for dinner. Hands down the best pizza we had in all of Italy; tagliatelle with clams and mussels were also delicious. I would highly recommend a meal there if you have time while in town. Nice touches that made our experience very memorable.

The villa itself is a perfect balance between new and old which made for an authentic, yet comfortable stay. New: new leather furniture in the living room, TV, wifi, large refrigerator, high quality bedding and towels, renovated bathroom with new shower, Memory Foam mattress in bedroom. Old: original ceilings, cabinets, window frames all provided a rustic feel to the home that reminds you that you are in Tuscany. While at the villa, we probably spent the most time on the back terrace, where the views of the hillside are impeccable, sipping wine and listening to the soothing waterfall. Pure relaxation and peacefulness.

The location in Sarteano is perfect. The villa is conveniently located about 20 minutes (by car) from the Chiusi train station, and you can rent a car from a Hertz that is within walking distance of the station. We also took a day trip to Assisi one morning and spent the late afternoon/evening in the town of Montepulciano. Assisi was about 60 minutes away, and Montepulciano was about 20 minutes. Highly recommend both.

We will be recommending this property to all of our family and friends that plan to visit Tuscany!

Sarteano is a charming medieval town that is rich in history, art, wonderful attractions and events. The town centre is a great place to walk around and admire the Medieval architecture of its buildings and stop in the local shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes. The Sarteano Castle is a short walk within the town walls. It was built around the half of the 15th Century and is open to the public. It is quite an amazing experience to walk up the ancient stone staircases up through the four floors of the Castle. Once you reach the top there are amazing views of the Chiana Valley, the Lakes of Chiusi, Montepulciano and the Trasimeno and Cetona Mountain. An Archeological Museum is located on the ground floor of the castle as well.

The Church of San Martino in Sarteano has some remarkable paintings. There is also the Etruscan Museum of Sarteano which has some of the area's most important Etruscan tombs in Tuscany. There are some events held in the summer. One event in June is the Febbre da Cavallo Fair, which has equestrian events such as trekking routes, horse shows, exhibition of best horse breeds and a children's riding lessons area. Another great attraction in town is the Parce delle Piscine. It has three open air pools fed by thermal springs with a rich mineral content and kept at a constant temperature of 24 degrees Celsius. One of the pools is a children's pool. Parc also has a playground, cinema, sports, restaurant, and pool bar. Several other Free Entry Thermal Springs are within a short drive away. Some of them are: Bagno Vignoni, Rapolano Terme, San Casciano dei Bagni and Bagni San Filippo. Thermal Springs contain many minerlas such as Calcium, Sulphur, and Flouride. They are know for their special properties and are used to treat Neuralgic and arthritic condiytions, Inflammation, Rheumatism and Respiratory Problems. Two othe Thermal Springs are located in Chianciano Terme. Parco Aquasanta and Piscine Theia both have pools with themal spring waters and Spas for a fee.

Sarteano has many wonderful towns and cities within close proximity. Montepulciano is a 15 minute drive, Pienza is 17km, Montalcino 7km, Chiusi 7km, Cetona 4km, San Casciagno dei Bagni 13km, Castiglione del Lago 21km, San Quirico d' Orcia 21km, and Perugia 42km. There are many other cities as well. Florence is an hour drive, Siena a 45 minute drive and Rome is a about a two hour drive. There are several Wine regions within close proximity. Some of them are Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and Chianti. Montalcino is 47knm from Sarteano. Brunello di Montalcino is one of Italy's most famous and prestigious wines. The Vino Nobile of Montepulciano and Chianti also high ranking wines in Italy. The local wines, food and olive oil from the local towns are also amazing.
