Lakefront home on sunny Bottle Bay with dock - plenty of room to spread out
4-bedroom, 3.5 bath home with decks, docks and great views. Now accepting Summer 2026 reservations. Early summer discounts, shorter stay available Aug. 15-20.
Families love our large open house right on the water on Lake Pend Oreille. Hang out on the dock, bring your boat or jet skis or rent nearby. Concerts, hiking, huckleberry picking. Our guests often tell us one week isn't long enough to experience all there is to see and do.
Fall and winter are also secret gems in North Idaho -- skiing, snowshoeing, curling up with a puzzle, game or good book is so much more fun with a dusting of snow outside, crisp air, and our mountain views.
Swim, boat, hike, bike - everything is accessible from our Bottle Bay getaway.
Venturing farther afield are day trips to Priest Lake or rafting the Clark Fork or Spokane rivers, hiking in the Cabinet or Selkirk Mountains, antique markets, hot springs, wineries, and a variety of summer specialty fairs. We are about an hour from Coeur d'Alene, 90 minutes from Spokane International Airport.
Nearby hiking and mountain biking trails include Gold Hill, Mineral Ridge, Pine St. Woods, and Schweitzer.
While the town of Sandpoint is relatively small, the variety of restaurants is sure to provide enough choices for discerning palates. Boat to a waterfront restaurant in minutes, jet ski to town to visit the twice-weekly farmer's market or shop. We have a book full of our favorite places to go to and eat at, and when you are here, you'll agree with many of our guests that a week just isn't enough.
Spacious, yet casual. Many custom construction features, built-in seating and storage, everything has been designed for modern comfort and maximum lake views and fun.
With a full dock and two PWC docks the warm waters of Bottle Bay will keep you busy. Guests rave about our fully stocked kitchen with everything needed to make a gourmet meal for your crew.
The open floor plan provides plenty of space for cooking and entertaining on the main floor, either inside or outside. Bathrooms are custom tiled with heated floors, large showers and multi-head shower jets. Bath and beach towels are provided. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, hand soap, laundry soap, paper goods fully stocked.
Kitchen, dining area and living room flow together, with all providing view access to a wall of windows facing the water. Make yourself a latte with the super-automatic espresso maker (locally roasted coffee provided) and enjoy a quiet morning on the deck watching waterfowl. It's just a few steps to the dock and the lake, and the neighborhood provides quiet lanes for strolling.
The side deck is covered, providing shade in the afternoon.

Thank you for your kind words; we love it when families can gather together at the lake.
Our family loved staying at this beautiful lakeside home on Lake Pend Oreille. Everything we needed was provided, so we enjoyed our vacation even more than we expected!
The property was fantastic. The entire process from check-in to check-out was very smooth. The views were breathtaking any time of day. All of the amenities were beyond expectations. We highly recommend staying at this spacious home in Bottle Bay!
The location and property were amazing. The house was immaculate, plenty of towels for showering and the water. Very spacious. Quick boat ride to Sandpoint and Hope.
We had a great time at the house. We took our 24 ft boat and the bay was calm enough, even during a windy day, that I was comfortable having it tied to the dock. The house was well appointed, and even had some sharp knives, which never happens in rentals:)
We had an amazing week! The house is beautiful and set up with everything you could possibly need. The views of the lake are gorgeous. Many great hiking trails nearby. Owner and property manager friendly and helpful.
Jeanine is really great. We stayed in touch quite often, and she was always ready to offer a local's suggestion for things to do or places nearby to visit. The house is a spacious contemporary that housed our group of 11 just fine. I've never encountered such a well-stocked kitchen insofar as foodie tools go. The house is chock full of electronic upgrades for lighting, sound, and cooling. The deck was a nice place to gather with great views of the Selkirks and Purcells to the north. The house has its own dock on the lake. Early in the season, the lake just wasn't that crowded. So delightful to tool around in a pontoon boat with everyone. We had a great time. Bring a pole for your little ones. Lots of small mouth bass under the dock!

I'm glad the fishing was successful and you had a good time boating. We love to cook, so a well-stocked kitchen is a must for us. Thanks for your review.
We loved our stay in bottle bay! The house was amazing - great location with a perfect setup for our family. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were huge. Our boys loved the steam shower downstairs! The kitchen was the most well-equipped kitchen we've ever had in a rental home. It had almost every gadget and appliance you could think of.
The view of the water was the best! Sunny side of the lake, large deck with protection for our boat. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

Thanks so much for your review. We love coming to the lake with family, cooking, relaxing, swimming and boating.
We had an amazing time staying at this bottle bay home! The deck has an amazing view and we enjoyed watching hummingbirds come and go all day. When you walk into the home, we were blown away by the panoramic views of the lake from the main floor. The kitchen is large and spacious and the heated floors were an added plus! The kids enjoyed fishing off the dock and caught quite a few smallmouth bass which kept them entertained. We loved our stay and are looking forward to next year!
For those with young kids or those who prefer to sleep in the dark, I would suggest bringing blackout blinds or something of that nature as all the rooms get very bright by 4:30-4:45 AM each morning and doesn’t get dark in the rooms until 9:30 or so at night.
Our 3-generation family of 12 gathered here for Grandma’s 70th birthday. We are a very active group, and the Smith house was perfect for us. We had lots of water toys and fishing gear, and the fun never stopped. We only left the house a couple of times, and that was to get more food for the troops! The home was spotless, the kitchen large and so well-equipped, plenty of seating both inside and out — it was everything “advertised” and more, including really nice neighbors. The only negative was that one week was not enough, and the family’s unanimous vote is that we will return!

Lap of luxury and remote simultaneously.
We had the best time at our annual family reunion last week in this lovely home on the lake. We're a group of three families and have been meeting for many years now, selecting different homes at different locations around the northwest. This home receives our best rating because it's the best in so many ways. The best equipped kitchen ever (!!), sharing owners who provided beach towels and floaties for the lake, and the amenities of staying in a new home. Bedrooms and baths were perfect. Even the neighbors were friendly and our grandkids played with theirs. Really- this home is all about being in the lap of luxury and being remote.

Beautiful haven on Bottle Bay
We just completed our second stay at this beautiful house on the lake and we can't wait to come back! The house is wonderfully situated on Bottle Bay, a quieter and calmer inlet on the lake which makes it perfect for those seeking a peaceful haven and also for smoother water activities like paddle boarding and kayaking and swimming. Across the bay at the marina you can rent boats and jet skis and dock them right in front of the house!
The house itself is both roomy and beautiful. We loved cooking in the large, modern kitchen. We have great memories of BBQ-ing and enjoying dinner on the deck overlooking the bay! When the weather was hot, you could always find at least one of our party relaxing on the lower patio, lounging in the shade in the comfortable patio furniture. At least once during each stay we've built a fire in the fire pit and roasted marshmallows, a must do!
The bedrooms are clean and comfortable and the bathrooms are all beautiful and large. A great house for a family gathering! Between the three downstairs bedrooms there is also a great family room for lounging. Plenty of room for the whole family.
If you stay here, you will never want to leave!

Love this house!
Honestly, I thought about not leaving a review because I didn't want to share how perfect this place is, for fear of having a hard time booking next year. But, the owner and the property manager were so nice to us, and the house was nothing short of incredible... It just wouldn't be nice not to rave. This house is beautiful and comfortable and so luxurious. We love being on the sunny side of Bottle Bay, too. Even the neighbors are friendly and nice. We loved everything about renting this house, and felt like guests, not renters. We didn't want to leave. If I had to say something negative at all, it'd be that the pull out sofa wasn't comfortable, but with the amount of beds in the house, we didn't need to use it anyway. The kitchen is well stocked with upscale dinnerware and glassware and appliances, the bed linens were quality, the beach towels were plentiful (what a change from having to bring our own, too!), the firewood was replenished with a smile when we ran out. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating - we wanted for absolutely nothing while we were there. I could go on and on about all the things we appreciated - that's how perfect this property is.
Thank you so much for a week of great memories in a such a gorgeous house on the lake!

Thanks for your kind words--we want our guests to enjoy our little part of Lake Pend Oreille paradise as much as we do. We will do a mattress check on the sofa sleeper to see if we can add any cushioning to make it more comfortable. Cheers, Jeanine
This property was all that...and then some. First of all, our family ended up visiting in later June during an all time record heat wave. Temperature highs were between 100-108 degrees every day. Thankfully the home was furnished with three air-conditioning units and fans so it was extremely pleasant to hang out in during the day as well as sleeping at night. AC isn't always a reality for lake houses in this part of the country but it was a real plus for our family.
The dock is great for the kids and adults. You can jump off the dock into probably 12-15 feet of water and swim or float in tubes. There are 2 ladders leading up to the dock so easy in and out. We also fished from the dock and caught quite a few smallmouth bass. The water temperature was absolutely perfect, although the neighbors shared that nobody typically swims in the lake that time of year because its typically too cold. Well the weather obviously warmed the water and it was quite refreshing.
The house itself was immaculate, clean, and had everything you needed to cook. We used the grill almost everyday and it was directly connected to a gas line so no propane needed. The kids loved that there was a smart tv and the home has Directv so almost everything you wanted to watch you could. Additionally, we had strong Wifi at the home so no issues with iPads or cell phones. I guess if you're looking to unplug for a week you might need to turn off your phone.
Because you are in a remote location nothing is close by. Meaning, if you need anything from the store its a solid 30 minute drive. There is a little general store down the road about 15 minutes away in Garfield Bay called Odie's. They have what you'd typically find in a 7-Eleven with a large selection of beer! The road leading to the home and out to Sandpoint is very curvy and narrow at some points. I'd imagine it might be more difficult to navigate in the winter but during the summer it was pretty easy. Lots of deer and turkey along the roadsides.
Another review said the bedrooms were like a hotel. Totally agree. Both masters are over the top with 5 star bathrooms attached. Something you'd probably never think you would find in a lake home. Again, the place was well kept and modern.
We'd definitely return and if you plan on staying there during the summer I would highly suggest getting a boat to rent. The lake is absolutely gorgeous and there is a marina right across the bay, very convenient.

Thank you, David and family, for your thoughtful review. We've set up our home for relaxing with family and it sounds like you took good advantage of that! We hope to see you again on the bay.
Our family of up to 9 enjoyed this property so much. We spent most days on the dock and in the water on boats, jet skis, paddle boards, floaties.... We had fabulous weather and took full advantage of it. The house is extremely well appointed and stocked with everything you need. It is a cooks dream and very much appreciated by this group. Property manager and owner were responsive to any needs, however house was so well prepared we didn't require much from them. Can not wait to return.
This property is immaculate, well cared for and exactly as represented. The most well stocked vacation home we have had the pleasure of staying in. A great experience and a great property. Professional owner and manager. Definitely recommend as a 5 star stay. Thank you
This is the second time I’ve had the pleasure of staying at this property. The place is wonderful. Easy to get to and ohh so peaceful. Truly a place I never want to leave.
This house was wonderful. The pictures really don't do the interior justice. There is so much attention to detail and interior design that just felt right. It was nice to see a house with such high quality of craftmanship.
Our group was also impressed with the quality of the appliances, cookware and all the amenities that were available. In many rental homes, so many rooms are locked off, but this one made the lake toys, ping pong and even some tools available which came in handy. It felt more like we were staying with a friend.
The lower master has a steam room and everyone kept taking turns with the steam shower.
The mornings are simply amazing on the deck. The water is calm and we watched humming birds flit by us many times while eagles flew overhead. The sunsets were amazing as the sun set over the mouth of bottle bay. We have so many great pictures from this location.
The property manager was attentive and enjoyable to work with.
We have stayed at many rental homes and this one is quite possibly the nicest one and we are planning to rent it again next year.

About the host
Hosted by Owner
As longtime Alaska residents, our family of four has been spoiled by the natural beauty of the Last Frontier. Lake Pend Oreille is one of the few places we have found that can rival the natural splendor in our full-time home. The lake's nearby mountain ranges, warm-water recreational activities and cultural events are a wonderful change of pace for us. Sandpoint and the surrounding area have a friendly small-town vibe that made us feel comfortable the first time we visited.
Why they chose this property
We have considered building or buying a vacation home in ski towns and beach towns, and we feel the lake offers the best of both! Sandpoint and the Pend Oreille area have been recognized as summer and winter recreation meccas by Men's Health, Travel and Leisure, Rand McNally and more - this secret vacation paradise is gaining greater attention, and when you are at Bottle Bay, you'll see why.
Schweitzer Ski Resort isn't too far away, there are numerous cross-country trails in the region.
During the summer months, Bottle Bay is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy early morning wildlife or beautiful sunset barbecues.
What makes this property unique
Beautiful views, amazing sunsets, easy access to the water, cooling off on warm summer days with a jump in the lake from the private dock. Life is good in Bottle Bay!
