• Large screened-in porch
• 200 feet of private waterfront
• Spectacular sunsets
On a bank overlooking Seneca Lake, in the dappled shade of huge oak trees, the cottage provides exquisite lake views and fabulous sunsets.
This beautifully decorated, fully furnished cottage features a large living room with fireplace, dining room, and a spacious kitchen.
The cottage sleeps four; there are are two bedrooms with a queen bed in one and two twins in the other, with a daybed on the porch that's perfect for naps. There's one 3-pce bathroom with a shower.
The large screened-in porch is ideal for enjoying a lake-view meal or a peaceful afternoon siesta.
Jim and I spend our summers here at our cottage on Seneca Lake, and we rent the out the family cottage next door until the kids are ready to take it over. Jim grew up here in Lodi, and we've lived in various places in the US and Canada, including 20 years spent in St. John's, Newfoundland, before ending up in Lodi for the summers and in Ottawa in the winter. Best of both worlds!
Rosemary Covert purchased this cottage in 1945
Jim's parents built this place after WWII, and it's been in the family ever since. It's a beautiful spot overlooking the lake. We were lucky enough to buy the cottage next door 30 years ago, ensuring that everything up here on the bank from one gully to the next belongs to us.
We've tried to maintain the cottage's 50s character while bringing the amenities up to date. It’s full of books, artwork and amusing tchotkes. It’s also very well furnished. The large living room looks out through the trees over the lake, and windows on both sides allow in the lake breezes during the day and the cool air coming down from the woods during the night. There is a big screened-in porch that lets you feel like you're still outside even when it's raining.
If perfection were a cottage, then you've found it. Luxurious, quiet & beautiful - Felt like we were beside the sea.
Thank you so much, Rosemary & Jim, you'll be seeing more of us.
I just stayed here with 'the girls' for a couple nights...lovely cottage in a quiet, peaceful setting. Very homey and cozy. Did not want to leave! Two nights is not enough. Lots of wineries in the area within about a 15min drive. Rosemary was very accommodating, and am already looking to rebook for another stay.
Our waterfront area features a long stony beach lined with trees and the clear, cool waters of Seneca Lake. We have a dock and a weed-free swimming area. Many enjoy fishing as well as swimming and boating on the lake.
The cottage is located 5 minutes north of Lodi Point State Marine Park, which has a boat launching ramp and boat slips.
Between the village of Lodi and the town of Watkins Glen is one of the most beautiful drives in America and about 20 wineries, all offering tastings. There is an excellent French restaurant on the outskirts of the village.
Several good restaurants with excellent views of the lake are located within a 20-minute drive. The world-class Corning Glass museum and the Women's Rights National Historical Park are both within easy reach, as is the Waterloo Premium Outlet Mall.
The Finger Lakes National Forest has many walking trails. Cornell University and Ithaca College are half an hour away. The sunsets are unbeatable and the natural beauty of the area has to be seen to be believed.
