Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time we have stayed at this property and we had a blast. The house and grounds are welll maintained and had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. It was myself, my husband and young toddler. Having laundry on premises was key for us! Also the lawn is beautiful for just hanging out and relaxing. Anyela's vineyward is right up the street so no need to drive very far to the other lakes for a winery experience. Conveniently located about 10 minutes away from town with a nice supermarket, which made it easier for travelling with our young daughter. My uncle and aunt came to visit us during the day and admired the home and want us to come back every year!

Beautiful Lakefront Home

  • 4 of 5

The house itself is a five-star home and the location is fabulous. However, I am giving it a "Good" rating as opposed to an “Excellent” rating because of the following experience we had while renting it.

The good: This lakefront home is beautiful with a great floor plan perfect for families and excellent for entertaining. The lakefront with the accessible beach, grassy area, and dock were a huge plus. Being close to Skaneateles and the Mandana Inn was great. The kitchen was well appointed and we made good use of the washing machine and dryer.

A big disappointment was that the house was not clean when we arrived including bathrooms and bed linens. Although the property managers responded right away, saying that the condition of the home was "unacceptable" and attempted to clean, sweep, vacuum and change beds, there were still many cleanliness issues that remained causing us to do additional cleaning we hadn't planned on during our vacation. However, the owner recognized that this situation was unsatisfactory and at least gave us all of our deposit back including the non-refundable portion.

A second really big disappointment was that there is air-conditioning only on the first floor. One of the reasons we picked this home for our family vacation was that it was advertised as being air-conditioned. Yet when we arrived we see a small sign on the refrigerator telling us there is no air-conditioning upstairs – only fans. We were not at all happy about that especially traveling with an 8-month old baby. Again, after pointing this out to the owner, she immediately amended the VRBO site to reflect that the house only has air-conditioning on the first floor.

A big plus is that Betsy, the owner, is very responsive. I would highly recommend this house as long as you were reassured that it was thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival and if you don't care if the upstairs is not air-conditioned.

Owner's Response: We are sincerely thankful to Donna for the review and for the comments concerning the condition of our house when she and her family arrived. We take great pride in the condition of our property, and make sure that the house is thoroughly cleaned before having anyone stay at the house. Unfortunately, before Donna and her family arrived, we were out of town, and had relied on our regular cleaning people to make sure the house was spotless. Unfortunately there was a problem with the cleaners that they did not get to the house timely, and as a result it was not in appropriate condition when the family arrived. Once we heard this, we immediately made sure the property was thoroughly cleaned. This is the first (and last) time that this has happened. We have made the appropriate personnel move to assure that the house will be spotless in the future, just as it has been in the past for all previous families that have stayed at the property. We apologize the Donna and her family, and we hope they enjoyed their stay. We did make what we thought were appropriate accommodations as a result of the cleaning issue, and we are certain this type of event will not be repeated in the future. We truly love our lake house, and our mission is to make the house perfect for all people that come and stay at the house.so that the only thing that users need think about is how to enjoy their time at Skaneateles Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in New York State. While it is true that the central air conditioning vents are only on the first floor, that has rarely been a problem given the cool breeze that usually is present on the West side of the Lake. We have now made it clear in the listing that the house is air conditioned on the first floor only for all future renters. Our experience is that the air conditioning that is present is usually very acceptable, and that it only on the two or three hottest days of the year where there are any issues on the second floor. We hope that if you are looking for a great house to stay on Skaneateles Lake that you will try our house. It is walking distance to the Marina and to the Mandana Inn, one of the finest restaurants in the Skaneateles area. The Lake, of course, is one of a kind and one of the most enjoyable Lakes of the Finger Lakes. We hope to have you come and enjoy our property on the Lake. Sincerely, Betsy and John

We were very impressed with this house. It is even more beautiful then the pictures show. Very spacious and clean. Love the open floor plan and the big windows were my favorite! Betsy was very accommodating and we plan on returning next year.

Wonderful stay in every way!

  • 5 of 5

We were at the house for a week and it exceeded our expectations! The owner was delightful and accommodating, the house beautiful and clean and the first floor Primary Suite was just perfect. Next door to the marina, it was very easy to walk over when we rented a boat for the day. Close to the winery and a short drive to the downtown Village area, where the shopping and restaurants are superb.

This will be tops on our list for a return visit.

Great spot!

  • 5 of 5

Spent a week here with my family and would absolutely rent again. Beautify house with spacious, level yard and lake front, just minutes from town. For boaters, the house couldn't be more convenient! Located adjacent to marina with free launch, plenty of room in the yard for trailer storage and a nice, large dock. House is clean, modern, spacious and nicely furnished. Comfortable beds, lots of closet space, large bathrooms with nice linens.

There is just so much to do in the Finger Lakes Area, that it is hard to describe all of the wonderful activities. Skaneateles Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes you will ever see, with the freshest water that supplies the drinking water for the City of Syracuse and the surrounding area of Onondaga County. Just feet out your door you can have boating, fishing, swimming, tubing, canoeing, and all sorts of other lake activities. If you have a boat, bring it with you--the Town Boat Launch is only a 5 minute walk away. If you want to rent a boat, the owners can make the arrangements through Skaneateles Marina, again only a 5 minute walk away. You can also rent kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, tubes, pontoon boats, and most any lake fun item you can imagine.

This 3 bedroom house that sleeps 7 people is 5 miles South of the quaint Village of Skaneateles, with it's trendy shops and relaxed atmosphere. With 110 feet of beautiful level lakefront property, this home sits as a year round house, with heat and air conditioning, only steps from the clear Skaneateles Lake water. The house has a huge yard, with lots of open grassy areas on both the lakes side and the road side. Nestled among pine trees on both sides of the property, you will be assured of privacy. The quaint and locally famous Mandana Inn Restaurant is a 5 minute walk from the house. The Village of Skaneateles is a short 5 mile ride, and there are specialty shops and restaurants galore in the Village. There are several wineries in the area that give tours, and there area several golf courses nearby. This beautiful house has a full wall of windows overlooking the Lake, with lakeside views from just about every room on the first level. The hardwood floors compliment the wide open layout of the house, with a modern upgraded kitchen. There is a long circular private driveway leading through the pine trees to the house, and a two car attached garage. The house provides indoor and outdoor eating areas, with an outside deck overlooking the water.
