Quiet Beauty, Location and Amenities - What's not to Love
About Kevin Nealon
My mom and dad started vacationing at Baycliff over 50 years ago. At that time we’d drive up from New Jersey and spend two weeks. I remember going deep sea fishing, hiking, sight seeing and all the other touristy things. Though I think my favorite activity was skipping rocks into the sea. Not that easy with waves and wind and seaweed. In 1973 the property went up for sale and my dad immediately purchased it. We then started staying a month at a time in the cottage, which, back then, wasn’t much larger than the cabins. One year we brought up all seven of our cats and a raccoon that I was fostering! We’ve been renting the two cabins for over 40 years now years now. The above picture is myself, my two daughters and my mom, who has been taking care of the cabins during the summer. Mt. Desert Island features may attractions. If you ride a bicycle, the carriage roads are amazing! If you like to hike, the hiking trails are amazing! If you like to bird, we have humming birds and warblers! There are also some very good restaurants in Bar Harbor and elsewhere on the island. This really is a wonderful place.

Why Kevin Nealon chose Bar Harbor
Baycliff is about viewing nature from the comfort of a beautiful home. A wall of windows across the front of the house gives you a front row seat to nature unfolding in all its splendor. The large windows and skylights let you witness the changing character of Frenchman Bay. Watch amazing sunrises and sunsets, on a sunny day, the clouds racing across the sky, on an moody overcast day, the approach of a storm. It's a never-ending story of change. The beach also changes its character with the ebb and flow of the tide. There are boulders that are exposed during low tide along with the seaweed giving the beach a feeling of an ocean based meditation garden. There is also a deck on the house along with a deck on the actual cliff with a picnic bench and stairs that lead down to the rocky beach. Where you can explore interesting rock formations such the nearby "Ovens" that feature shallow caves and natural bridges. Acadia National Park Headquarters are only 2.5 miles away and Bar Harbor is only five miles.

Great vacation home
Great vacation home and location. Private, but close to everywhere on Mount Desert Island.
We will be back
Great place—Great Location.
Well said too!
Wonderful house for an amazing Maine vacation!
Baycliff was a spectacular home for our vacation! The amazing views from the deck and from all the main rooms inside were perfect. Kevin was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend this property and hope to return!
Thank you very much! We aim to please!
For us this home was all about the view - the view of the water framed by the trees both inside, from the kitchen and living room, and outside, from the deck off the living room and the OTHER deck right at the water’s edge. Almost all our time at the house was spent gazing out to the water, with coffee or wine, chatting with friends, or with books in our laps. Totally peaceful location. Kevin was great to deal with, and we loved his house.
The view is the home entertainment system!
Beautiful views and close to town/Acadia
I don't usually write reviews, but this home was great for our stay in Bar Harbor. The home was larger than expected, as it's listed as a 2 bedroom. We were 6 people and no one had to sleep in the basement. The highlights: views are beautiful, the kids loved the backyard/steps to the rocky beach, we collected sea glass and many other shells, and it's a short drive to town and Acadia. Kevin, the owner, and his property manager are easily accessible.
What a wonderful review!
Thanks for being our renters,
Baycliff delivered as promised
We loved staying in this charming home on Frenchman Bay. The home was very clean and stocked with everything we needed, including a lobster pot and all the necessary tools. The beds were very comfortable. It was close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We loved the beach access and walks to “The Ovens” and will definitely stay there if we return to this part of Maine.
Hi Renate - Thank you for your wonderful review! You may find Baycliff a bit addictive.
Cottage is located on the north coast of Mt. Desert Island and is 2.5 miles from the Acadia National Park visitor center and 5 miles from Bar Harbor. For those that like to ride bicycles, Rt. 3 has recently been renovated and now has a large shoulder in both directions, making it easy to ride into the park or town.
