Charming Downtown Cottage With Heated Pool

Our charming 2 bedroom cottage w/porch swing and private heated saline pool is a quiet retreat from a day spent exploring beautiful St. Augustine! Located in a quiet neighborhood near Matanzas Bay and just blocks from the famed Fort Castillo de San Marcos so you can park the car and forget about it!

This 2 bedroom/2 bathroom cottage has everything you need for a great St. Augustine stay. Built in 1875 it is full of charm but has been renovated and provides every modern convenience. And best of all you will have the place/pool to yourselves. The Main House in the front will NEVER be rented during your stay but if you prefer more space you may want to book it instead. Location: The cottage is situated in a wonderful walkable neighborhood between the famed Fort at Castillo De San Marcos and the Mission De Nombres. You can make the pretty walk to the historical downtown St. Augustine district in just minutes. And if you want time at the beach it's only a 4 minute drive away.

Layout: The cottage includes an open floor plan overlooking the heated saline pool with large LR, fully stocked Kitchen and 3 seat Breakfast Bar. The 2 bedrooms and bathrooms are situated on opposite sides of the cottage so each guest has plenty of privacy. There are 2 separate patios for your use. One provides furniture for lounging and the other overlooks the pool and provides a shady area for dining or just hanging out. Both patios are accessible directly from your cottage. Plus we never book more than 1 guest at a time so you will always have the pool to yourselves.

Details: The Living Room has 42 inch flat screen TV, DVD. Kitchen has full size refrigerator and stove, double DW, microwave, coffeemaker and garbage disposal. We provide coffee and tea and stock your kitchen with a few snacks to make sure you never go hungry!

Bedroom 1 is a King Size bed with walk in shower and glass door. Bedroom 2 has a Queen size bed with a full sized tub and shower with glass shower screen. It also has a wall hung LCD TV. We provide wonderful memory foam beds and high end linens in both bedrooms for a great sleep!

Cottage has a private entrance and front porch which overlooks the pool. It is technically connected to the main house via a 12 foot long glassed in breezeway but is otherwise a completely separate structure and the two homes are further closed off by 2 sets of locking doors.

If you like our location but prefer more space you may consider renting the Main House instead (listing #604638). You may also rent the entire property (Main House and Cottage). See listing #607969. Remember: whether you rent the Main House or the Cottage we NEVER book more than 1 guest at a time so you will ALWAYS have the pool to yourselves.

Other Details: Cottage also has CHA, hardwood floors throughout, shuttered windows, stained glass windows, and custom porcelain tiled baths. There are 3 adult bikes (with helmets/locks) in the bike shed by the driveway.

Important to Note

No events, gatherings, visitors, pets (unless approved by owner), smoking, parties, disruptions or other disregard of lease terms can occur or terms of rental are void and immediate eviction will be enforced. Persons other than those specified in the booking are not allowed in/on the property unless approved by us in advance. If you would like to have a visitor please coordinate with us in advance. Please let us know who, when and for how long you expect your guest. Parking will also need to be coordinated as we have limited space.

We have an automated system for maintaining the temperature in the property. The lowest cool setting is 72 and the highest heat setting is 70. You may adjust the air in between those settings but the system will reset automatically if you go below or above. There are ceiling fans in every room of the property but we ask that you turn them off when leaving the house for extended periods.

Note: The pool is not heated during February to avoid damaging the heater.

External security cameras in use. This is for your protection and protection of the property. Video recordings occur incrementally. Video are routinely deleted by the system and would only be shared with law enforcement as needed.

CANCELATION or EARLY DEPARTURE – There are NO REFUNDS for CANCELLATION OR EARLY DEPARTURES EXCEPT AS PROVIDED HEREIN. If a Guest requests a cancellation 60 DAYS or more before check-in, Owner will make a “best effort” to re-rent the property. If the Owner is able to successfully re-rent the reserved period, the Owner will refund the total rental payment less a $100 servicing fee. Guest may obtain a “Cancel for Any Reason” policy through a third party. Guest ASSUMES THE RISK.

This property is licensed with the City of St. Augustine, St. Johns County and state of Florida for vacation rentals. Lodging is subject to state/county taxes.

We are a family of 3 who live between St. Augustine and a small rural town in CT. We love traveling, camping and visiting historical sites. And like most Jacksonville FL natives we've been to St. Augustine a 'million' times. For starters my family has attended the St. Augustine Easter Parade for over 40 years! In fact, when we moved to St. Augustine there was not a street, restaurant or historic site that we didn't already know well. It was like we'd always been here.

Why pauline webb chose Saint Augustine

There are certain neighborhoods in St. Augustine that we have always enjoyed strolling through. Historic Abbott Tract (our neighborhood) has always been at the top of the list. Snuggled in between the Fort and the Mission alongside the beautiful Matanzas Bay it's one the best bases for exploring the exciting and historic downtown core. So when we found this unique home (which is basically two homes connected) we knew right away that it was perfect for us. We felt it had the right blend of architecture (some old and some new) and we loved the layout and overall vibe. We added the heated saline pool right away because the lot was small and it seemed the best way to utilize the space. We were right-it's been a big hit ever since! But the best part is walking to everything. At night when you walk past the beautifully lit Castillo De San Marcos on your way to dinner you know that you are lucky indeed! We hope you find your time in our home and neighborhood special too.

What makes this house unique

This architect designed property is extremely unique in that you have a wonderful mesh of old and new. The 2 story portion built in 2006 connects via glassed in breezeway to the lovingly restored cottage built in 1875. Heart pine floors, plantation shutters and tropical colors bind these structures together yet the open floor plan allows for modern living and conveniences. We love how comfortable it is to live in this home. It's upscale but relaxed. It feels fresh yet you notice touches of age with original bead board ceilings, stained glass windows and antique doors. With tons of windows it seems always to be full of sunshine. Comfortable and cozy. The location is exceptional and the neighborhood vibe is one of community and diversity. Everybody knows everybody...and we love it that way.

All the special touches from tea to the sparkling pool, beach towels and rain ponchos made this a charming little piece of heaven. We can't wait to tell all of our friends about how great our stay was and how you even took the time to suggest places to go and things to eat. We are already planning our next stay!

Charming Historic Cottage

When our travels bring us back to St. Augustine, this will be our first choice for lodging. The neighborhood is quiet, provides off-street parking and is within walking distance of the historic areas. The properties have been beautifully renovated and maintained. The owner provided thoughtful touches and supplies throughout, and responds very promptly to any inquiries. Her pre-arrival information includes lots of useful information about local restaurants and attractions. Highly recommended.

Awesome charming private retreat

From all the thoughtful details and amenities to the private pool and patio area, it was perfect for us on so many levels. The owner Pauline was so nice and super quick to respond when after a day out at the beach, we returned to realize I'd lost the house key at the beach. She could not have been nicer and we were quickly back to enjoying our stay.
