About David Hamm

My wife and I were fortunate to grow up on the beaches of Southern California but with all of the stresses of development we decided to move here in Kona where it is what California was like in the earlier years. We are now able to host guests so that they can come experiance the life style of Island living.

David Hamm purchased this house in 2011

Why David Hamm chose Kailua-Kona

We are located close to the hustle and bustle of the oceanfront Kona town and yet far enought to get away from it when you are ready to relax.

Clean, spacious and convenient to Ali’i Drive and South Kona sights. Easy parking and gracious host.

We spent 3 nights here because of the proximity to the airport and the ocean before continuing on to other parts of the island. The property is as depicted, very open and spacious with screened windows on 3 sides. Evenings were cool during our stay, but sleeping was comfortable. The kitchen was adequately equipped and we ate breakfast and some other meals in. Good grocery store 10minutes away at Keahau We saw David every day working around the property. He is very nice, and knowledgeable about the area if you are looking for recommendations. We loved hearing the birds in the morning (especially his chickens—hens only, no rooster) and really appreciated the fresh eggs that David left for us! Within walking distance to snorkeling at Kahalu’u but be prepared to carry your gear a ways along busy Ali’i. Easy road for your morning run or walk in the along the roadside as well. But being one house away from the road with no glass in the windows does mean you pick up a lot of road noise. Usually not a problem at night but traffic begins early in the AM. We enjoyed our stay there, knew it was a busy area, and we were ready to move on to quieter areas after 3 nights. I would recommend this rental with that caveat, particularly for folks looking for access to Kona town and associated activities.

Great view of the ocean with an open floor plan

  • 5 of 5

We felt like we were at one with nature when we woke up in the morning to the calls of the native birds. Two walls are screened from floor to ceiling, so we were able to get a dramatic view of the ocean. The ceiling fans made the space comfortable during the warm days and nights. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Fabulous airy place

  • 5 of 5

This is an awesome place to stay. David meets you there and shows you around and it is large and spacious. The temperature was great with the cross ventilation with the plantation shutters and ceiling fans. It has everything you need. I slept on the pull out couch and it was very comfy. Our stay was too brief. It was quiet and restful. If you rent this home away from home you will not be sorry.
