You can be steps away from the convergence of two gold-metal fishing rivers, and in the exact heart of downtown Basalt's restaurants, shops, art galleries, summer street fairs and farmer's markets. If you want to be in the midst of this family-friendly location, then this sophisticated penthouse apartment is for you.
The outdoor activities are unlimited. They include biking, golfing, fishing, skiing, horseback riding, hiking, snowmobiling and so much more. Whole Foods Grocery Store and Starbucks are steps away and City Market and the movie theater just around the corner. Snowmass and Aspen as well as Glenwood Hot Springs are all 20 minutes or less away.
You are staying in a designer and builder's dream project, so expect to have the finest appointments not typically found in rental properties! From the $80,000 Italian made Pedini kitchen equipped with subzero, gas range and excellent cookware and dishes to the finest Italian bedding - you will not find a more luxurious, exciting and convenient place to reside during your vacation. We have collected artwork for the loft from renown artists from Eastern Europe, Barcelona, New York and Tibet among others. The style is clean and modern with Ligne Roset furniture from Paris in the living room. The master bed was hand forged and all mattresses in the loft were selected for ultimate comfort. Down comforters, linen, fine cotton duvets and super down pillows are provided to settle in at night. Top of the line large screen TVs are in both the living room and master bedroom. Twelve-foot ceilings and banks of windows add to the modern vibe of the space. The second bedroom is an intimate space that can sleep 4 in two full-over-full beds. There is also an additional single bed pallet that can be used in this room. The rug was handmade in Buenos Aires and is of soft chevron cowhide. Everything is pristine as it was all acquired with our recent remodel.
The spring, summer and fall activities seem to happen more down-valley in terms of horseback riding, golf, fishing and hiking, and you are right in the center of it all! The main bus station is 1 blocks from our unit that you can take anywhere with buses leaving every 20 minutes. If you rent a car you do not have to worry about snow as you have a designated underground parking spot. On days we ski Aspen mountain, we typically valet at The Little Nell, and have a Apres ski cocktail and have our ticket validated, which makes it quite reasonable to park at the very base of the mountain. It is a terrific place to people watch and relax before heading back to our little sanctuary.
You are steps from the bus stop, the best wine store in the valley, as well as two of the top-rated restaurants on the first floor! Jump on the bikes and head to the river or stroll to the 8 screen movie theater or the darling bowling alley that serves rack of lamb! We have done what we feel makes a space both exciting and comfortable to enjoy the best of the best in Colorado. You will be thrilled with the money you will save having the anchors such as Whole Foods so close as opposed to the heart of the tourist areas. As foodies, we love to try every new restaurant and found the choices much more interesting in the Basalt area at basically half the price and it is incredible to have the option of either! Skiing could not be easier - hop on the bus on the corner of our block and be driven or pack your car in the garage and head up the mountain. Everything is so easy to make your trip fantastic!
After visiting Aspen and Basalt, Colorado yearly for the past 17 years, we took the plunge and bought our dream loft to enjoy and share with responsible guests.
Amy Smith purchased this condo in 2012
We found we much preferred staying in Basalt, as opposed to the central core of Aspen or the condos in Snowmass over our many trips for a multitude of reasons. It is a 'real town' with locals as well as savvy tourists and you are 10-15 minutes from Snowmass and 20 minutes from the Aspen Mountain. If you want to try Vail it is a little over an hour away and you can actually ski both of Colorado's most beloved mountains.
Our loft is less than one block from the new Whole Foods store, the wine store is directly below, the bike store and ski rental directly across the street and three restaurants occupy the bottom floor of our building - all of which have fantastic reviews! The restaurants are located on the opposite site of the building and we reside above Aspen Shane Real Estate office so we have the best in terms of convenience while being quiet at the same time.
Our building has underground parking, a work out facility and a killer roof top terrace with seating and multiple grills to cook out and watch the sunset! You can stroll through wonderful stores all around our loft or visit the General Store and have a milkshake or hot chocolate at the old-fashioned counter. Two miles away is our favorite new restaurant, Heather's, which serves the BEST pot pies on earth and a vast array of home made pastry. We from the South, like to think we have the upper-hand on these delicacies, but trust me, theirs are the BEST! Many nights, they have live music and you will find yourself staying and socializing for hours. You can read more about Basalt in the New York Times as they wrote about the hidden treasure that is like 'The Old Aspen!' We have traveled the world extensively and THIS is where we chose to make a purchase. Wonderful things are meant to be shared, and we welcome you to visit our home away from home.
I would defer to the reviews. We have never had a guest not be happy with the choice and many are surprised that we rent it. It is a carefree way to have exactly what you need to enjoy nature, hotspots and all of the conveniences you expect.
Chefs' kitchen with top of the line cooking gear. I enjoy cooking and with this kitchen and Whole Foods one block away you do not need restaurants. If you prefer to dine out several good restaurants are in the same complex.
There is a great jogging path just outside the door where you can run or bike to Aspen up valley or Carbondale down valley. Great hiking in all directions.
We just rented the loft and was very happy with our stay. The loft was very nice and very stylish. We had our family of five and still had plenty of room for all of us. The loft isn't really that large but it is very well planned out and very comfortable. It was very convenient with a stackable washer/dryer in the unit. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. The bathrooms were very stylish and nice. The water pressure in the showers was amazing and the towels were very thick and plush. It felt like we were staying in a very high end hotel suite. The loft had a nice view overlooking the town center and a view of the mountains. However, the best view was going up to the rooftop deck and seeing the 360 degree view from this cute little area of the valley, it was very gorgeous. The rooftop had a couple of grills and an outdoor fire pit.
The location was perfect, it was in this very stylish town center. There are a few restaurants in the town center (with a few of them in the building) & also a frozen yogurt place right down the street. The Whole Foods was only a block away and they had anything that you would need. Since my wife needs her espresso every morning to function, the Starbucks couldn't have been in a more perfect spot. So every morning I would use my mobile phone app to place our order. I would then walk out our building and one block to the south and voila our order was ready and sitting on the counter, no waiting. There are a number of other little shops in the town center but we didn't check them out.
The building was very quiet at all times of the day. It was nice that there was underground parking in the building. The elevator took us from the parking garage (basement level) directly up to the second floor.
The location of the loft really was perfect. It was an easy 18 minute drive into Aspen and about the same into Glenwood Springs. But it still had all of the services one would need if you decided to stay in for the day.
Lastly the owner couldn't have made our stay any better. Literally five minutes after I had booked this stay, she called me to answer my questions. The morning of our check-in, I texted here with another question and she texted back almost immediately. She has thought of everything that would make the loft perfect for your vacation stay. Thank you Amy, we will be back :)
Overall this is a fantastic apartment. Clean, new, and pretty much all the kitchen supplies and supplies you may need. It is located 50 yards from whole foods and the ABC store. There is a Starbucks 150 yeards away and 3-4 restaurants in the neighborhood (withing 100 yards). It took us 30 min to drive to Snowmass village parking garage, about 40 min to Aspen depending on traffic.
The Aspen youth center is a great place if the kids want a day of rest from skiing, it is free and the people there are great (my sister works there :)). The center has air hockey, ping pong, they play dodge ball, etc, etc. The center also have an indoor hockey rink, climbing wall and a great swim facility (costs money, but owned by the youth center).
The apartments has a King and wide (full) bunk bed. We were 2 adult and 3 kids and it worked great, even though my 14 year old decided to sleep in the couch to get his own bed. Sleeping 6 adults would be pushing it. The bunk beds may work for couples, but not otherwise. There are only 4 chairs in the kitchen and the table does not pull out (it is attached to the wall), so to eat 6 you have to bring in the balcony chairs. It kind of works. This may not be a big deal for most since many eat out, we like to cook in. There is a big screen TV (50+ in) and internet. The internet is slow, so don't plan on video conferencing, but email works even though it is slow.
Perfectly appointed urban loft in an amazing mountain setting. Close to everything including modern public transportation. A perfect oasis regardless of season. Owner was fully engaged and available during our stay. Amazing recommendations regarding restaurants, local attractions and superb spa were provided. Although the kitchen is a chef's dream, we chose the many restaurants within walking distance. White birch bedroom, ease of fireplace use and heated garage were our favorites.
My wife, grown son and I had a family wedding in Basalt. We wanted more room than a hotel and found this on VRBO (which we have used before). The pictures looked great and the place was even better in person. Kitchen was amazing wished we could have used it more. The beds slept very comfortably and the baths were spacious. We would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I selected this unique loft in Basalt for it's location and on VRBO it's luxurious appointments were up to 5 star hotel experienced we are used to. We were not disappointed.
An added surprise was the fully equipped gourmet kitchen. The best we've experienced and we both love to cook. Everything from European high thread count sheets to big fluffy thirsty terry toweling was 5 star. The setting in Willets Town Center is very "urban" yet it is decidedly a mountain experience. Great restaurants near by, most a walk and a Whole Foods just a block away. The fishing on the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork was outstanding and weather was perfect. Golf at The River Valley Ranch was also a surprisingly fine experience especially for a daily fee course. Perfect manicured agronomy and beautiful views of Mt Sopris. Club house dining was excellent and enhanced by spectacular sumsets. Could not have picked a better place to get away from our Southeastern heat in August. Our only disappointment was that we had to leave our miniature beagle at home, however he was on vacation too at Pet Paradise in Jacksonville.
We bought the loft to ski basically but we have enjoyed going in all directions since from the loft. Here are just a few ideas.
Taylor Creek Fly Shop will set you up to catch some amazing fish and the shop is very close to the house! You can't beat the rivers that surround where the loft is located.
We continue to learn new things about the area ALL OF THE TIME! Who knew there was a theme park in Glenwood Springs on the top of a mountain with really fun rides including one that catapults you literally over the entire canyon!
We have also found some very special nature treks including the Town of Marble for some amazing barbecue and horseback riding. There are literally so many things to see nature related in the area there are books and lots of them!
The next town down valley is Carbondale (10 minutes away) and there is a Holistic Wellness Center that will BLOW your mind! It is gorgeous and they serve wonderful healthy and raw food choices, juices coffees, teas. It is a true retreat location for complete rejuvenation.
This year we discovered The Pine Creek Cookery. What a fun trip is between Aspen and Basalt! Gourmet food par excellence and you can take a sleigh there in the winter or bike in the summer. This area is one of my new favorites!
Woody Creek and a burger at the Tavern is always a delicious stop heading into Aspen. Full of charm and history. Best enchiladas I have had anywhere in the country.
