Whether for business or pleasure, or if this is your first visit or you’ve visited numerous times, we invite you to relax in our charming and historic bungalow located in the heart of Hollywood. Tucked at the base of the Hollywood Hills and just minutes from the Hollywood sign, Universal Studios, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Park, the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood Reservoir, this charming 1918 bungalow features all of the amenities of home. This home away from home is a two bedroom, one bath that comfortably sleeps four people but can accommodate up to six. Our bungalow is conveniently located between all of the major movie studios, attractions, venues, and restaurants with quick and easy access to the Los Angeles metro and freeways.

Enjoy the outdoor patio and private garden with a complementary bottle of wine or explore the area using our Hollywood Bungalow guide that includes everything from our favorite restaurants and hiking trails to tourist activities, or browse at the Hollywood Farmers’ Market, which is open every Sunday.

There is no reason to drive since everything is close to the house and there is only street parking. Some of our favorite spots such as Musso and Frank Grill, Hollywood’s oldest existing restaurant built in 1919 or Amoeba Music, the world’s largest independent record store are within walking distance. The bungalow is located just two blocks from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and three blocks from Sunset Boulevard. Take a stroll and visit Hollywood & Highland, home of the Kodak Theater and the Academy Awards, the Hollywood Wax Museum, the Guinness World Record Museum or check out the TCL Chinese Theater where you can pose next to a movie stars’ hand or foot prints. Visit the iconic Capitol Records building near Hollywood and Vine. Enjoy some of Hollywood's hottest nightlife, located just two to three blocks away.

We're a ten to fifteen minute drive to most of Hollywood's major film studios, and just a five-minute drive to Universal Studios and City Walk. Listen to fantastic music under the stars at the Hollywood Bowl, or catch an award winning show at the Pantages Theater, Southern California’s showplace for live Broadway productions and the greatest movie palace from Hollywood’s Golden Age. Hello and welcome! My name is Rosa Loaiza and I have been the owner of this charming bungalow since 1992. I have lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years and absolutely love the city. I have two daughters, one who is a U.S. Navy Sailor, and both my daughters currently reside in Virginia. I have traveled throughout the United States and love to explore new places but for me, Los Angeles will always hold a special place in my heart for me and my small dog, Cali. Perfect little bungalow

Rosa was super accommodating and everything worked out perfectly during our stay. We stayed for 2 weeks and ended up extending our stay a few more days because we didn't want to leave. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a private stay right in Hollywood.

Adorable oasis inside and out 😍 Perfect location! Owner extremely helpful and friendly😊

Ideal location! Walk a couple blocks to Hollywood blvd Walk of Fame or drive approximately 6 minutes to Universal Studios! Close to Disneyland and beaches as well. Once inside the gated property, you leave the busy town behind and step into your personal oasis. Trees, shade, sitting areas, table, pathway, washer, dryer, clothesline, and that's just the outside! Then step inside this cozy house which offers plenty of space for your family. There were 5 of us, my husband, myself, 2 of our adult children and our 8 year old grandson and there were beds for everyone. TV's with cable in the living room, and both bedrooms. There's a living room with a chair and 2 couches(one turns into a bed), a kitchen with pots, pans, cutlery, dishes, glasses, stove, fridge, dishwasher, and an eating area, a full bathroom and two good size bedrooms. Extra blankets in the closet. There's plenty of street parking. The owner is a wonderful lady, friendly and very helpful. There was even a nice bottle of wine for us to enjoy. Thank you Rosa, we really enjoyed our stay😘. I highly recommend staying here! We will definitely stay here again😉

Other amenities close by are a gas station on the corner, cafe less than a block away, and a CVS a bock away.

History of Hollywood

Hollywood is known as the home of the entertainment industry and includes several historic filming studios. Originally, this area was known as the Cahuenga Valley, an agricultural community and was coined “Hollywood” by H. J. Whitley and a deed was filed for the property on February 1, 1887 by Harvey H. Wilcox. By 1900, the region had a post office, a hotel and two markets in addition to vineyards, barley fields and citrus groves.

The Hollywood Hotel opened in 1902 by H. J. Whitley and the hotel became internationally known as a center for civic and social life. Hollywood was incorporated into a municipality on November 14, 1903 and liquor was banished from the city on January 30, 1904 with neither hotels nor restaurants allowing wine or liquor to be served before or after meals.

The first film by a Hollywood studio was shot on October 26, 1911 by Nestor Motion Picture Company. Four major film companies had studios in the area, Paramount, Warner Bros., RKO, and Columbia and were headed by powerful moguls like Adolph Zukor, Wiliam Fox, Louis B. Mayer, Samuel Goldwyn, Carl Laemmle, Hary Cohn Joseph Schenck, the Warner Bros. and producers with powerful vision, such as Irving Thalberg, Darryl F. Zanuck and David O. Selznick. By the 1920s, Hollywood was the fifth largest industry in the nation, due to the ideal climate for year-round outdoor filming, and known as the world’s film capitol. During the 1920s, Hollywood, also known as Tinseltown, recruited many of Europe’s talented actors and actresses, directors, camera operators, set designers and film technicians.

By the 1950s, the Hollywood Freeway was constructed in the northeast corner of Hollywood providing easier access to the rest of Los Angeles and the outlying areas. The Capitol Records building was built in 1956, just north of Hollywood Blvd, on Vine Street. In 1958, the Hollywood Walk of Fame was created as a tribute to those that significantly contributed to the film, music and entertainment industry.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Hollywood sought to revise older film genres appealing to the younger population with romanticized versions of gangsters with Bonnie & Clyde and celebrating youthful rebellion with The Graduate. By the late 1970s and early 1980s, escapist blockbusters were the new direction of the entertainment industry, with films such as Star Wars, Superman, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and then moving towards more nostalgic films such as Grease. Since 2000, the Hollywood area has undergone revitalization and become increasingly gentrified due to private enterprise and public planners.

Hollywood came to symbolize a mixture of extravagance, glamour, hedonism and fun due partly to the popularity of Hollywood’s celebrity culture.

History of our bungalow

Originally commissioned in 1918 by Cecil B. DeMille, these four bungalows, including our bungalow, were to provide upscale housing for some of Hollywood’s early royalty. According to local historians, many of the silent film stars of the 1920s such as Helen Chadwick, Richard Dix, Clara Bow, and Dorothy Gish were guests of these homes.

The bungalow is located in the Hollywood Dell, at the base of the Hollywood Hills, which are a part of the Santa Monica Mountains. Established in the early 1920s, the Hollywood Dell of today is a blend of old-timers, professionals, artists, writers, and actors.

The Hollywood Dell is nestled in the hills east of the Cahuenga Pass, and the neighborhood extends from Franklin Avenue north to the Hollywood Reservoir. Residents can be seen walking their dogs in the mornings and evenings with an occasional glimpse of a coyote, skunk, rabbit, and deer. With about 1000 residences, this cozy community is seen by many of its inhabitants as a welcome respite from the daily grind.

Voted as one of the “10 Best Neighborhoods You Have Never Heard of” by Los Angeles Magazine in December 2004 and written up in Angeleno magazine in October 2003, the Hollywood Dell is a unique bit of paradise, minutes from the heart of Hollywood.

The neighborhood includes the Hollywood Bowl, the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre, a portion of Griffith Park and has some notable residents that include Earle D. Baker (1888-1969), Ashton Kutcher, Nene Leakes, Jesse Metcalfe, Matthew Perry, Tyler Perry, Robert & Peggy Stevenson, Tom Leykis and Katy Perry.
