Beautiful retreat in the Black Hills

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time staying at the Chalet in June. Becci was super helpful and very responsive when we had questions. The Chalet is very peaceful and secluded yet not far from the Interstate and a great base for touring the Black Hills.

We visited Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Badlands, Deadwood and Custer State Park - they were all great. The kids (8 and 5) also enjoyed the Dinosaur Park overlooking Rapid City and Storybook Island. We had a great brunch at Tally's Silver Spoon in RC and enjoyed our evening at Que Pasa Mexican restaurant too.

The Chalet was just the right size for the four of us, and the kids loved the hot pool and tennis court. We stayed for nearly a week, so it would have been helpful to have a washing machine, but Becci was able to tell us where the nearest laundry was.

We had a great time and would definitely recommend the Chalet. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

What a peaceful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We were only able to stay 2 nights which was unfortunate for us! The Chalet is quite cozy and peaceful. Everything you need is supplied. Becci was very helpful and even let us know about an incoming storm. She made a suggestion to visit Mt Rushmore in the evening which worked out perfect and allowed us to add additional places to visit. I would highly recommend The Chalet.

Turkeys, deer, and a hot tub on a hill

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at The Chalet. It's in a prime location for day trips all over the Black Hills and so much better than staying at a hotel because we got to experience the wilderness, enjoy home cooked food and a much needed soak after hiking and driving around all day. Becci is a gracious and wonderful hostess and we loved staying at her place; it has a ton of personal character because she built it herself!

Clean And Quiet

  • 5 of 5

We (wife, 6yo son, 4yo son, 3yo son, myself) stayed at the lovely chalet over the 4th of July 2016. We are from Milwaukee, WI and this was the longest time we made the boys sit in a car for and when we got out to the property we enjoyed relaxing every night. from the hot tub, use of the grill, the fantastic weather. It was so nice to come back to the chalet which was far enough off the beaten path but also close enough to your standard modern amenities that we never found ourselves searching or wondering what to do. Give this property and these owners a chance if you are considering a vacation getaway in the blackhills.

Chalet on the mountain

  • 5 of 5

Really cute little place in a great location for all the sites in Rapid City. It was lovely, quiet, clean and very nicely stocked. Has everything you would want for a home away from home and then some. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Grounds are nice and the hot but is extremely clean and a real bonus. Be aware that this lovely little place is on a dirt road up to the top of a very high hill or small mountain. It was scary at first, but we got used to it after a few times. You will see wildlife both from the Chalet and on your way down the mountain road. A peaceful, pretty little Chalet.

Owner's Response: Hi, Jackie: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay in our home it was so nice to get to know the two of you! Sorry, you were uncomfortable with driving up a hill at first -- we are so fortunate that our road is a well maintained, double lane county road. The Black Hills area is home to many hilly road like ours - it's part of living in the hills. Thank you for the nice review and we hope to see you again in the future! Best wishes, Becci and Colin
