Delightful cottage in a beautiful spot; another wonderful week on the beach!

  • 5 of 5

This was a returned trip for me to the cottage in the dunes. See my previous October 2016 5-star review for details of the cottage. I loved it just as much the second time as I did the first time. The spot couldn't be more private yet close to everything you need including a little market, cafe and ice cream store within walking distance, the bike path, several restaurants a short ride up or down 28A and then of course, Falmouth and Mashpee 10 to 15 minutes away. I honestly barely left the house as I enjoyed the beach and timed cocktails and dinner for the sunsets which are glorious over Buzzards Bay. I just love this cottage in the dunes and look forward to returning next year. Peggy is very easy to work with. If you are looking for a cozy, well equipped, carefree cottage on the beach, private yet accessible to the villages of Falmouth, look no further!

Spectacular Sunset Views and Absolute Serenity

  • 5 of 5

My family vacationed in West Falmouth for years so I have very fond memories of the area. I am so happy to have found this cozy beach cottage nestled in the dunes. The cottage is everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing getaway from it all whether you’re traveling with a small family, another person, or by yourself.

The cottage is a wonderful combination of vintage Cape Cod with modern amenities. While compact, the cottage makes great use of space with a combined living and dining room with a stone fireplace for taking the chill off a cool night and amazing westerly views of Little Island and Buzzards Bay. The master bedroom also faces the water and it was wonderful falling asleep to the sounds of the waves against the beach. The kitchen is bright and cheery, and well stocked with kitchen gadgets if want to dine in. Stairs in the kitchen lead up to a roof top deck with two lounge chairs where I enjoyed watching the ever changing light off the ocean, the tides, the clouds floating by, and the most spectacular sunsets. (The morning glow of sunrise is also special.)

Step off the back porch off the living area and you are in the dunes where a short path takes you to a private white sugar fine sandy beach. At low tide there are sandbars which make for a family friendly beach. I enjoyed walking the beach at different times of the day looking for shells and exploring Little Island.

Located at the end of the crushed shell lane right on the beach, the cottage is incredibly private. But, it’s also conveniently located to the village center which includes West Falmouth Market, an ice cream shop (summer only), a café, the West Falmouth Library and access to the bike path. Several restaurants are nearby in either direction on Rt. 28A and at the Sea Crest Hotel on Old Silver Beach, and of course, Falmouth is a 10 to 15-minute drive away for more activities including the ferry to Martha's Vineyard.

Peggy was easy to work with, responded quickly to my emails, and patiently answered my questions about booking through VRBO. I’m looking forward to returning next year!

Sunsets to remember

  • 5 of 5

We had a delightful time at this magical beach cottage. It is entirely private, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and lovingly maintained. We timed our dinners to optimize views of the sunset and had both calm beach waters and whitecaps that reminded me of big lakes in Wisconsin. We hope to return for another quiet, romantic time at the beach.

A quiet retreat

  • 4 of 5

This is an exceptional cottage, well looked-after and an ideal place to get away from the bustle and crowds that have taken over so much of the Cape. The swimming is great, the beds are comfy and the kitchen is well-equipped. It is not a spacious rental, but the views and the calm make up for that. We've had a wonderful time during both of our stays here and would rent again.

A GEM IN THE DUNES!

  • 5 of 5

My husband has summered in this area for almost 45 years but we never expected a place like this. On very short notice, we booked the cottage over the 4th of July weekend and were stunned at the beautiful place we found! You are literally in the dunes with your own private 200 yard stretch of beach. The views were spectacular, the cottage quaint and the privacy unparalleled. Margaret was very responsive and easy to work with. We loved our short time here and hope to return!

ENCHANTING QUAINT COTTAGE SMACK DAB ON THE BEACH

  • 4 of 5

As one who's owned family waterfront property on Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod since 1923 (those properties being sold last year) I was fearful of now becoming a tenant and renting property on-line. However, my fears evaporated the moment I drove up to this quaint little cottage smack dab on a private beach and stepped inside finding a charmingly cozy petite Cape, with both a lovely waterfront covered porch, plus an open roof-top sun-deck too! Shining Sea Bikeway a short mile away, with Falmouth and ferries to The Islands about 10 minutes away. I'm ready to return next year! GOOD+++++++!
