About Gayle Ghiglieri
My husband and I are co-builders of the Renaissance and live part-time in the penthouse. We are often on site and willing to make restaurant or excursion suggestions if you should ask. We appreciate the ease of getting around Puerto Vallarta and the mix of traditional Mexico with modern amenities.
Gayle Ghiglieri purchased this Condo in 2011
Why Gayle Ghiglieri chose South Zone
We chose it for its exceptional location. A very short walk from the Renaissance will get you to the beach and a wide variety of restaurant or entertainment options. At the end of the short street are cabs or buses that allow you to investigate the entire area.
What makes this Condo unique
We enjoy the leisurely pace of Mexico and the ocean breezes and beautiful sunsets. It is wonderful to have a drink or dinner at a beachfront restaurant and listen to the waves and live music. Strolling along the cobble stone streets and discovering the town is both wonderful and unique.

Great place to stay
This is our first time in PV. We stayed here for two months. Idalia, the property manager is very friendly and helpful. We arranged to have her pick us up at the airport which was great for first timers. Idalia was easily reachable by email and always responded promptly. We also had the pleaasure of meeting our host, Gayle. She is very nice.
The apartment seemed large especially when the window wall is open. The kitchen had everything we needed and the BBQ was great, we used it often. We found the unit comfortable for the two of us and comfortable when we had 2 adult guests staying with us. Full size washer and dryer was used often.
The WIFI worked well and my partner was able to work from here without an issue.
Yes it is on a hill but we didn’t think that was an issue. There is always a taxi or Uber to take you home for 60 pesos or less if you decide you don’t
want to walk off that big dinner or ice cream you just had. I think anything closer to the action would be too noisy. It is fairly quiet here which is what we were looking for.
The house keeper was in each week and did a great job cleaning and Filipe keeps the complex and pool clean. Both are very nice.
The place is convenient. We were able to walk to Leys grocery, the more traditional vegetable and fish markets, the Saturday farmers market, the beach and the best restaurants within minutes.
We will miss the morning church bells in the distance, the local rooster, the iguana on the roof across from the pool and the occasional gecko.
Thank you Gayle for a wonderful stay.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. It was a pleasure to have such charming guests. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and hope you choose us again for your next visit to Puerto Vallarta.
Wishing you more happy travels,
Great condo. Very clean, wonderful lay out, Wonderful host, quiet. Only negatives is that there is quite a hill to climb up but you can take uber or a taxi if you want and the pool is very cold only because this time of the year there is no sun on it. Everything was great. I wish there was a few spices and oil so we could have had basics for cooking but we were only there one week. If you are there longer you will want to have some in the condo. But there are great restaurants close by.
Thank you for a great vacation and the thoughtful bottle of prosecco.
Thank you for the great review. I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our condo. Some people do prefer to taxi up the drive and taxis are reasonable and readily available. We don't supply spices or oil because their limited shelf life in our climate and it is impossible for guests to know how old they are. We would hate to spoil someone's meal. Guests generally prefer to purchase their own. There are grocery stores not far away and Oxxo, the local convenience store right across the road, has most commonly used items in small quantities at reasonable prices for guests who want to cook. You are right about the number and quality of the many restaurants near by. I'm glad you enjoyed the prosecco. We look forward to having you as guests again soon.
A Wonderful Stay
We have traveled and stayed in sunny Puerto Vallarta for 6Y at least 6W @ a time and my wife and I certainly enjoyed staying in this condo. We were pleased with the location and the fact that the condo is quiet. The condo and especially the kitchen are well equipped. Idalia, the manager was very helpful in every respect as well as Felipe the Grounds keeper. Meeting the owners Gayle & Steve made our stay even more pleasant. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Thank you for your lovely review, Sam. I'm always happy to hear that our condo and everyone working there were a big part of making your vacation a pleasure. It was a delight meeting you both. We look forward to seeing you again and thank you for booking in advance for next year. Safe travels!
What a lovely spot up the hill! We loved our stay at Gayle's place...Absolutely gorgeous, exquisitely clean and fantastic location. This beautiful home was situated up the hill and perfectly walkable for this 50's-60's pair. I appreciated the light exercise and the absolute quiet and privacy was so worth it. Super close to the hubbub of activity, without being in it...ahh. Gayle has thought of all the little details for a comfortable stay. The bed, the pillows, the linens...more ahh! This longtime host in Seattle highly recommends it. CS
My husband and I, in our late 60's, thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks, Jan. 2017 and wished it was longer. We found the condo very relaxing, quiet and excellent beds/pillows. ( which is often not the norm in Mexico) In fact, all the furniture was v. comfortable. All appliances were excellent. Although we had no one staying with us, the bedrooms are situated at different ends of the condo making it very suitable for 2 couples. We had no trouble with the short 7 - 10 min. walk to downtown and walked the Malecon most days. The condo does not get a lot of sun but we found that enjoyable after been downtown in the heat. Unfortunately, the pool is not heated but it is relaxing to lie and read on the built in chaise lounges and cool your feet if you don't like swimming in an unheated pool. The local bus stops at the bottom of the driveway and there are always plenty of taxis. Bistro Teresa at the end of the Malecon by the Plaza, is our favourite restaurant.
We would definitely stay at Gayle and Steve's place again.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in our condo. Thank you for taking the time to write a comprehensive review. We certainly appreciate it. Steve and I look forward to having you as guests again soon!
Clean and modern
My husband and I stayed in this condo for two weeks in December. It is very open, clean, and modern. We loved the glass doors that slid all the way back to make it indoor/outdoor living so you could walk directly out onto the terrace. There is a partial view of the bay from the terrace and we could see the fireworks every night. The furniture was all very comfortable including the beds and pillows. Wifi was fast and worked great. The kitchen was spotless and had plenty of kitchen tools incase you are inspired to cook. The only thing lacking were some basic spices, oils, and condiments, which would have been nice to have on hand. We would have appreciated some paper and pens and maybe some info on the local area as well.
The location was great with a short walk down the hill to old town and Los Muertos beach. You can easily take a taxi back up to the condo for just a few pesos, but we choose to walk and burn off some extra calories from all the great food we consumed. It was so nice to not need a car, walk everywhere, and use the public transportation. There are many, many great restaurants within walking distance of this property. It was very quiet in the complex and we only saw one of the neighbors. There is no direct sun on the terrace or pool area and the pool is not heated so we did not use it at all. There was only one afternoon that a couple of the neighbor kids were in the pool, otherwise no one used it. We did have one issue which was resolved quickly with an email to the property manager. It was a wonderful stay in beautiful Puerto Vallarta!
I appreciate your taking the time to write a review. Thank you. Paper and pens do seem to wander off so we will bulk up on our supply for the future. We typically do not keep oils or spices in the condo since they tend to spoil rather quickly there and I would hate to have a guest unknowingly use something that had turned bad. I'm delighted you enjoyed your vacation.
The Renaissance is a modern building located in charming Old Vallarta where there is always a lot to see and do. It is just a 7 minute walk to the beach with many restaurants offering cool drinks, food and umbrella covered chairs. There is a wonderful selection of restaurants serving both local fare and international cuisine all either a walk or short cab ride away. For shoppers there are high quality silver shops, Indian art and unique pottery. Several art galleries are featured in the weekly Art Walk in winter with fine Mexican art and wine to enjoy. Along the boardwalk, the Malecon, there are many opportunities to book a variety of excursions including boat tours that feature snorkeling, then on to a jungle waterfall followed by lunch and a swim on a private beach. Perhaps you'd prefer whale watching, scuba diving or a zip-line tour. You can even horseback ride in the mountains with a jungle view. Enjoy lunch at the Botanical Gardens' fabulous restaurant surrounded by beautiful flowers and exotic birds. The festival of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the namesake of the lovely church in the center of Old Town, is celebrated the week of December 9th with traditional parades of people in native costumes from all over Mexico, street vendors selling treats and lots of music.
