Bayfield Migizi Landings Lake Superior Shore Home
Located between Bayfield and Washburn on the sandy beaches of Lake Superior sits Migizi Landings. You will quickly learn why this home is so special to our family.
Migizi Landings is a short drive to everything that Bayfield County has to offer. A very convenient spot for those who vacation, hike, canoe, kayak, ski, ATV visit the Bayfield Apple Festival and attend Big Top Chautauqua events.
Many have told us that once they arrive they never want to leave the home. Local craftsmen built the four-story timber frame home in 2001. Many of the large wood beams were reclaimed from area buildings. Like the homes of Scandinavia that have stood for centuries, no metal is used in the super structure of Migizi Landings. You will stare up from the great room and fireplace three floors above to the loft and vaulted ceiling in awe at the sea of pine.
The home features four bedrooms, three full baths, a large authentic Finnish sauna, two fireplaces, an outdoor lake shower and a large fourth-floor open loft. A three-quarters wrap deck extends to the back overlooking Lake Superior, Madeline and Long Islands. An extended dining table in the great room can accommodate large gatherings. Custom built furniture and art fill the cabin making it feel like home to all who visit.
We named our home Migizi Landings from the Ojibwa Indian (Lake Superior Band) name meaning bald eagle. On the day we bought the home in 2009 a pair of bald eagles landed on a tree on the corner of the property looking over Lake Superior. On every visit since we see them multiple times daily. Their nest is on the lake within a 1/2 mile of our home. Deer, fox, loons, pileated woodpeckers and much more are experienced on visit.
A post-stay cleaning fee is taken out of your security deposit. It is typically $150-175, but has been higher when the cabin needs more post-stay attention.

All the comforts of home plus great views and relaxed and accommodating owners. We will be back!
We had a wonderful week here. Beautiful building with lots of great amenities. Would highly recommend it!
Beautiful. Very serene place. Quite large, house/ lodge.
We love mtzgi landing. The one downside is very difficult main level shower.
Very nice, clean well appointed house on 3 levels. Incomparable.
An hour on the deck is worth a week in most places.
A week with old friends
The images in the photos don't do justice to the majesty of this home and the lake! We spent a week with old friends, and our children here, and we all enjoyed our time. Space to spread out, privacy to accommodate many people, secluded, but close to everything! We had an amazing time. This place is made for relaxing!
Kevin and Patti's Washburn "cabin" is an architectural gem with Lake views and beach access.
Our family enjoyed a weeklong adventure in mid-June at this cabin. The Washburn location was perfect for visits to Bayfield, Ashland and Cornucopia. We hiked, kayaked, fished and golfed - all within a 20 minute drive.
The cabin is immaculate, architecturally stunning, and was outfitted with our every need. The large porch overlooking the bay was a perfect spot for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Kevin and Patti communicated promptly and were extremely customer friendly.
As a bonus, the cabin is very well equipped for accommodating babies and toddlers.
We had a superior experience at this cabin - 5 stars!
I usually do not write reviews, but this being such a wonderful experience, i had to write one. So here it is. The place is just beautiful, house as my husband puts it "you name it the place has it". We were 3 families that went on this trip with 3 young ones and ahd a great time in the house and on the beach. We could not get into water much as it was cold but did have some good beach time. The owners were really good in providing every detail of the place. If there was anythig we had to point our finger at, wish there were some outdoor games like bean bags. But all in all a great relaxing place to spend good time
We appreciate the review and are glad you enjoyed the home and location.
Big oops, there is a bean bag game and bocce balls set in the basement furnace room. We will make note of that for future guests.
Located at the gateway to the Apostle Islands, on the shores of Lake Superior.

Additional information about rental rates
Rates are subject to change until rental is confirmed. Also, more than one "empty-to-full" holding tank servicing per week of stay is deducted from the security deposit. "Empty-to-full" means that on your check-in day the tank typically has some level of fill. After the tank is emptied the first time during your stay, the next tank fill/empty is still on us. After that if your party refills the tank, that fee would be your responsibility.
