A private and quiet setting overlooking the Apostle Islands National Park. Relaxing getaway for two or plenty of space for a gathering of sixteen.
Enjoy enchanting glimpses of wildlife; deer at dawn, lake trout and salmon migrating in spring and fall. The extra-wide, permanent dock reaches 140' into Lake Superior and provides a perfect place to relax on the adirondack chairs and watch children at play or enjoy a serene moment at sunset.
Our architecturally designed cottage has an old world feel. The all-wood interior on the main and upper floors, most of which is milled from old growth Douglas Fir timbers, lend warmth and character to the home. The wrap-around screen porch provides protected outdoor space for dining, reading, playing cards or taking an afternoon nap. The fieldstone rumsford fireplace will take the evening chill out of the air and the 12' dining table will seat a crowd for special meals prepared in the gourmet kitchen.
The lower level 'rainy day' room features table tennis, a kids rock-climbing wall, Blue Ray and DVD player with large flat screen TV. An acoustic guitar is there waiting to be strummed. Plenty of books line the shelves throughout the home.
We are 7 miles from the town of LaPointe where you'll find restaurants, bars, ice cream and souvenir shopping. There are tennis courts available as well as a Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course. Moped, kayak and bicycle rental also available. Take the ferry over to Bayfield for a day trip of shopping and dinner out.

What makes this Cottage unique
Lake Superior has a coastal, maritime feel drawing sailors and kayakers to the Apostle Island archipelago. Bayfield is a quaint harbor town and Madeline Island is its slightly rebellious cousin. As we drive from the hectic city, to the rural Wisconsin roads and finally aboard the ferry and across the channel to Madeline Island, all cares have vanished!

Wonderful place to stay
We had a great stay! The cottage is beautiful!
A large house for multiple families with plenty of elbow room, fun and water
This is the perfect home for a gathering of multiple families (technically we had 8 different units), or one very large one! There is plenty of space for children to play, adults to read, or to walk down to the lake and enjoy the beach. The kitchen is well stocked and was a pleasure to cook meals and clean up in. All the amenities were very nice and thoughtfully planned. The house is very well cared for and is beautifully decorated. It was a 6+ mile ride via bikes into town which we tended to do in the morning and then come back in the afternoon and spend time at the lake. There was plenty to do in LaPointe for those who wanted to venture into town such as the Museum, local stores, or check out the community calendar for events. To wake up every morning and have a spectacular view and nice cup of coffee on the porch made it hard to leave. Or was it the evening sunset? Or the afternoon playing in the sand and jumping off the dock? The owner did a great job communicating/answering questions, and even sent us a list of things to do while on the island. We had always visited MI in the past for a day, but we were absolutely delighted with our experience staying for seven. Yes, you want to stay here.
Thank you for the glowing review of our Rendezvous home on Madeline Island. I'm so glad to know that you and your family enjoyed a wonderful, relaxing week together. Take care, enjoy the rest of the summer and know that you are welcome to come back for another visit!
My very best,
A truly wonderful place for a family rendezvous.
Beautiful and relaxing
We stayed a week with our extended family. This is a beautiful home, both in design and decoration. The design is amazing because it never felt like there were that many people in the house until we sat down to eat together. The kitchen is great - two dishwashers are awesome when you have a large group. The beach is pristine.
The rental property was everything it said it would be and more. The owner was great to work with. I can't wait to return to Madeline Island.
I just spent the weekend at the house with my family for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. There were 14 of us and there was plenty of room. Its not very often you can find a home with a large kitchen, great common area and bedrooms that are comfortable- this home had it all. The pictures are good but the house is even more beautiful in person. The gourmet kitchen was beyond my expectation in how well it was stocked.- just bring your groceries. The property is secluded and peaceful- we enjoyed early spring with deer and birds. The owners are gracious hosts and easy to get ahold of with questions and concerns. We rented bikes and rode around the island, played a lot of cards on the porch and even did a "polar plunge" into Lake Superior!! I highly recommend this property
Art Fairs and Festivals throughout the year.
