Cabin with 5 Bedrooms: Luxury Lakeshore property
From the moment you walk in the door you will feel completely at home at the barn at Madeline Island.
Sleeps 16 in beds/featured in both Martha Stewart Weddings, Linda Mack's new book about Madeline Island homes and featured on the Discovery Channel (Great Retreats).
Our home is located on over 900' of private lakeshore (18 acres) surrounded by beautiful white pine, maple and birch forest. The 3000 square foot home was built in 2003 from a 200 year old Vermont hay barn we had disassembled, transported and painstakingly reassembled into a luxury vacation home. The hand hewn beams inside are up to 20' in diameter and the walls are original barn board.
Enjoy our over-sized dock at sunset. Stand Up Paddle Boards and Kayaks are waiting for you at the lake... You and your kids will love swimming at the shore.
A charming treehouse for the kids and a handmade bonfire area to enjoy marshmallows and cocktails.
You will feel warm and comfortable from the moment you step inside to find a gourmet kitchen with Viking range and all of the amenities needed to relax and or entertain in grand style. Sit on the huge deck with family or friends and watch the sun set over the islands.
A perfect retreat for a couple, a wedding, a reunion or a larger group of friends looking to experience peace and quiet on Madeline Island.
We've hosted gorgeous weddings, family retreats, reunions and honeymoons. We take extra pains to make sure your needs are met. (caretakers are down the road!)
The Barn is truly a work of art that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.
We are 7 miles from the town of LaPointe where you'll find restaurants, bars, ice cream and souvenir shopping. There are tennis courts available as well as a Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course. Moped, kayak and bicycle rental also available. Take the ferry over to Bayfield for a day trip of shopping and dinner out.
Available for weekly (7 night minimum) rentals during July and August or shorter periods in fall, winter and spring (3 night minimum).
This review sums up your future experience at our home:
"The home was BEAUTIFUL. It was decorated lovely, with a warm and cozy feeling. It was spacious, clean, very comfortable and the view to Lake Superior breathtaking. The home had all the amenities we needed and the gourmet kitchen was fabulous. We spent a lot of time on the huge deck, which had comfortable seating for all. The dock was large and awesome where we spent a lot of time sunbathing, taking a dip in Lake Superior to cool off and trying our skills on the paddleboard. We had a lovely time and we all agreed that it was one of our best vacations. We also want to thank the owner for calling us to make sure we had everything we needed. That's customer service at it's finest. "

There is something just a bit magical about a stay at The Barn. Within moments you feel relaxed and hope to stay forever. Madeline island has cast a spell on us & we've come for many years, but mostly camping. We've become spoiled by the comfort and ambiance of The Barn and hope to stay many more times in the future. The kitchen is wonderful and has everything you could possibly need. Very organized. Well appointed bedrooms. Our daughter (and myself) LOVED the huge tub in the main bath. Lots of games, art supplies and toys to keep both older and younger children busy for those rainy days. We had Great times at the large kitchen table sharing meals and played games well into the night on the screened in porch. Sanders is always very responsive and easy to work with. Thank you Sanders for sharing your special place with our group once again.
The Barn is a beautiful, creative, quiet retreat on Madeline Island. The host was gracious and communicated well. The house was wonderful and the view of the lake was inspiring. If we had one recommendation, it would be to add a third toilet/sink in the basement so that we didn't have to choreograph our large group quite so carefully. There is access to the lake and a great pier with canoes and kayaks, however it is a challenging path for folks with balance and joint issues. We will take away great memories of the place and hope to return some day.
Beautiful location. Awesome views!
We had the best time at the Barn House for 5 days. Plenty of space to spread out. Lots of games and puzzles. Kitchen was great. Had a great time at the dock and at Big Bay Town Park. Thanks Sanders!
Great having you as guests and I hope to see you again next year!
Best always, Sanders
We booked a long weekend at the end of April at the Barn. Our daughter was on break from school, and The Barn was the perfect place to relax, unwind and catch up. Sanders was so wonderful and easy to work with. He provided perfect details and all the needed information about the cabin. When we arrived it was breathtaking. We enjoyed the cabin décor. The cabin was so warm and cozy and we immediately felt right at home. The cabin had everything we needed. Our stay was perfect and we did not want to leave. Thanks for sharing this treasure with our family. We can't wait to come back.
Michele & Jeff
Michele and Jeff, you guys were wonderful guests and I'm so happy that you were able to enjoy Madeline Island and the barn. I sincerely look forward to hearing from you again and hope you have a great summer.
Lovely Time at The Barn
We gathered at The Barn for my mother's 70th birthday. This one-of-a-kind property is gorgeous, organized, very spacious and well-maintained. There are a lot of toys, games, and equipment available which is a huge bonus. The screened porch was wonderful for late-night Scrabble games and the view of the lake and evening sunsets can't be beat. Sanders is a very responsive and helpful host. We look forward to coming back and highly recommend staying here!
happy 70th birthday to your mom!!!
And thank you for the wonderful review: we loved hosting you and your family and look forward to seeing you again.
Best always, Sanders
It only took a few minutes at The Barn for me to completely relax. The view of and proximity to the lake are spectacular, the rooms are comfortable and sweet. One of my favourite things about the house itself is that the main action happens in a large shared space: there is cooking happening on the gorgeous stove, games on the long dining table, and a whole range of perfect reading corners. In short: we had a great time unwinding, taking time for ourselves and reconnecting with each other. I'm counting the days until we go back.
Thank you for the great review. We loved hosting you and hope you will make the barn part of your yearly spring travel plans!
