Description

Southeast Portland House Rental Photos and Description

The perfect family home located in Portland's Southeast side with views of Mt. Hood. This light-filled large and airy home has multiple bedrooms on 2 floors plus a fully finished basement with a family room, ping pong table, wet bar and additional fireplace.

Our home offers cozy living with plenty of space, with large rooms, great entertaining areas and a huge private backyard with family dining area that is perfect for backyard BBQs. The large kitchen and separate dining room are perfect for family gatherings, as is the big family room and rec room in the finished basement. There are two fire places, hardwood floors throughout, a large family room and two and a half bathrooms.

Tasteful decor, and a well stocked linen closet and kitchen, central heat, Apple TV with Netflix and Hulu and high speed WiFi make this home perfect for longer stays or large family gatherings. We even have toys for kids and a Pak and Play. We try our best to make our home feel like your home away from home. We feature 100% cotton or linen 400+ thread count sheets and bedding throughout the house, as well as soft fluffy towels.

The house is located 1/2 a block from the entrance to Mt. Tabor Park, one of the best neighborhoods on Portland's east side. The park is great for running, hiking, biking, tennis and picnics. A short walk through the park lands you in Portland's Hawthorne District which is lined with shops and restaurants. Downtown Portland is an easy 10 minute drive. Public transportation is as close as a block away.

Mt. Tabor is one is one of the best neighborhoods in Portland. It surrounds the now extinct Mt. Tabor volcano, which is the only volcano within city limits in the U.S., and has long been extinct. The 'hill' is now a gorgeous city park with hiking and biking trails, family picnic areas, basketball and tennis courts, reservoirs and amazing views of Mt. Hood and downtown Portland.

While Mt. Tabor is quiet and residential, it sits in the middle of 4 of the most vibrant commercial neighborhoods in town - Montevilla/Stark, Hawthorne, Belmont and Division Street SE. You can easily walk to movie theaters, some of the best restaurants in town, plenty of shopping and really good coffee.

We love it here.

Concierge Book: Each guest is greeted with an extensive concierge book put together by the owner highlighting an updated list of the best restaurants, shopping, sites, and entertainment in the city. Get the insider's perspective.

Lovely, charming, safe neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

JJs place has everything you need. The charm of this old house is fab. Once you figure out how to sort the recycle and trash for the City of Portland edicts, you'll be fine. Plenty to see and do nearby...we walked through the park, to Belmont and Hawthorne districts. The Columbia River Gorge was a short car trip from JJs house. If you're a tall person, the upstairs shower will require some contortions, but there is another shower downstairs that might work better.

Coffee in the morning in the front living room with sunny views of cutesy houses was refreshing. The furniture was super comfy and we snored; the beds and linens were great. Only weird thing I found was the microfiber washcloths; otherwise, had a great time and enjoyed the old creaky wood floors and stairs.

Great House, Great Neighborhood and Great Host!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay could not have been more perfect. The kids had plenty of room to play, and we had our first ping pong tourney! The back yard was spacious. There was a nice patio and a great view of Mt. Hood. The house was well stocked. The kitchen had everything you need. The decor is classic and nice. In general, the home was very clean, modern, and comfortable. Our host was great, she helped us with some ins and outs of the city, and told us about rafting down the river and seeing the Multanomah Falls for sure. We are joggers, so the beautiful park across the street was the best. The house is in a truly wonderful neighborhood. It's the perfect house for a family gathering.

Disappointed!

  • 2 of 5

The location of this VRBO is convenient to Portland and the Willamette Valley. Overall, the house itself was disappointing, though. It is old and musty, especially the basement. The first floor bedroom is small with a double (not queen size) bed, and one of the second floor bedrooms has no working outlets. The rugs are worn and/or in need of cleaning. We ran out of hot water after three showers. Outside, the house paint is peeling and the back lawn is brown and littered with apples from a neighbor's tree.

Owner's Response: We have felt so fortunate sharing our home with people from all over the world since 2010. We have always hosted kind, gracious travelers, and families, who have been nothing but happy with our home and their experience. But, we finally ran into that one guest - manipulative, aggressive, not honest, spiteful, and seemingly unhappy through-and-through. I guess in 6 years it was bound to happen - sadly. No part of her review is true, except, yes there is paint peeling. Because we are having the entire exterior of the house painted at the end of October, following the busy travel season. Our painting contractor was doing tests, so there are some spots on the lower front of the house by the bushes and around the back door. It's far from a peeling hovel as described. The house is beautiful and in a one of the best neighborhoods in Portland. As stated in all of the other reviews.

We love this house!

  • 5 of 5

We love this house! It’s very roomy and comfortable and well stocked. It has a beautiful backyard patio with chairs and a table and barbecue grill. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood next to Mt. Tabor Park. We took many walks through the park during our stay. The house is located in a very convenient area only 20 minutes from downtown Portland and the airport. We felt very safe in the neighborhood with many walkers and runners passing by going to and from the park. Thank you JJ for sharing your house with us! We will definitely be staying here again.

We Love Portland!

  • 5 of 5

We had a terrific stay our first time in Portland. It's a wonderful city and JJ's house was the perfect spot for our home base. The home is really comfortable and truly like a home away from home with everything you could need. The house was big and airy and full of light, and right next to the wonderful Mt. Tabor Park. We took evening strolls around the park and rented bikes to explore all of the neighborhoods of Portland. The food is great. The people are friendly. The weather was even good!! Thank you JJ for a great stay. You have a really beautiful house and thank you for sharing it with us!

Wonderful Stay in a Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this pretty and comfortable home in Mt. Tabor. It's the perfect location so close to the park, but also very close to a number of great neighborhoods. We were 5 minutes away from Division where we ate almost ever night, and we also loved exploring Hawthorne, Belmont and Stark Streets with the great Academy Movie Theater. The house is really nice and big!! There was plenty of room for all of us, and the furnishings, linens, etc were all new and high quality. We loved the big back yard and the well stocked kitchen. Great home. Great owner. All around great experience!
