About Lisa Cooper
I am an artist who has lived on Hatteras with my husband, also an artist, for 39 years. I now continue to live and work on Hatteras by myself. I play guitar and other instruments, sometimes in local venues. My work is part time at a beautiful gallery in Avon called Kinnakeet Clay, where I create various items from slabs of clay that we sell in the gallery.
Lisa Cooper purchased this Studio in 1987
Why Lisa Cooper chose Dare County
We bought this property after living here for many years. My husband was an avid fisherman, gardener and painter, and living on Hatteras Island gave him opportunity to do all of these things. We enjoyed the small island community and I am glad to still be living here.

Charming, quaint, calming.
Clean, charming, and thoughtful. Lisa is a gracious host, available if you need her but seems to disappear if you're looking for privacy. The place was even nicer than the pictures. Freezer is small in mini fridge and didn't freeze things but that's normal in a mini fridge like that.
Great location. Really nice host and the room was really warm and welcoming.
Beautiful room and the location was great. The host was amazing. Would stay again.
Such a cute place
Great place to stay for a few days-- small but absolutely lovely. Lisa is wonderful too.
Treetop Retreat Review
This was a perfect cozy get away for our vacation to the Outer Banks. The owner of the property was more than accommodating and ensured we had everything we needed for our stay. The location was perfect too!
Excellent for an economy short-stay.
Lisa is a lovely person and provides a very pleasant hidden nook for a 2-person getaway. The room is bathed in light, the bed was great and the porch private. Pop’s, the bar across the way, served decent meals and Orange Blossom Bakery sold us Apple Uglies (a speciality) for breakfast. Small gripe: couldn’t find dishwashing liquid for washing up of mugs. Should have asked, my bad.
Thank you for your review. I will add some dish soap.
Truly a retreat -- cozy, warm, and welcoming
Treetop Retreat may be the most aptly named rental in which I've ever stayed! Though truly within the treetops, its coziness and warmth are graced with plenty of light and a welcoming combination of simplicity and comfort. Lisa's friendliness and responsiveness enhanced my stay, and her creative vision is evident in small artistic touches that complement the natural setting. I felt so at home that I honestly didn't want to leave, and can't wait to return . . . . In the meantime grazie mille, Lisa, for a way-too-short but nonetheless rejuvenating stay.
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is a destination spot for people all summer.
