Hot Tub - Pool Table - Gas Grill - Wood Fire Place!

Sierra's Base Camp is a single story house with a log like cabin feel. It's been meticulously decorated and furnished to further add to the mountain feel. It truly is a home away from home. It's our hope our guest enjoy it as much as we do when we visit.

The cabin has a fully stocked kitchen with refrigerator, gas stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, oven toaster, and coffee maker. Dining Table can seat 6-8. Family Room has a wood burning fireplace, flat screen "Fire Stick" TV, DVD player, and surround sound. The house has free WiFi, ready to go. The sofa turns into a queen size bed when needed. Adjacent to family room is a pool table and pub table. Immediately off the family room is a large deck with an umbrella table (seats 6) and a gas BBQ. A full size front loading washer and dryer is located next to the guest bathroom.

There are 3 bedrooms. The Master has a king size bed. The master bath has a shower tub combo. The deck is accessible from the Master. The 2nd bedroom has a queen size bed. The 3rd bedroom has a twin size bunk bed plus a pull out twin. The guest bathroom has a shower bath combo. Please note that the house sleeps 7 in bedrooms and two additional guests with pull out sofa bed for a total of 9.

There is additional outside seating space on the front patio. We have beautiful wood furniture which seats 4, plus an umbrella. And of course there is a beautiful Hot tub to relax in after a long day of activity.

Driveway has easy accessibility, especially during winter months, has a very mild downward slope. No stairs to deal with (makes loading and unloading vehicles very easy). Driveway can accommodate up to 3 vehicles.

About Teresa Koops

Brian and I (Teresa) love to be active. Brian is a mountaineer (has climbed 23K feet) and an avid mountain biker and skier. I love to run half marathons, workout, and ski. As a family, we enjoy hiking, cycling, and spending time with our family and friends.

Teresa Koops purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Teresa Koops chose Moonridge

We chose to buy a cabin in Big Bear because of its beauty, year round activities, and proximity to our primary residence. We specifically chose a house in Moonridge because of its close proximity to the ski resorts, downtown, and lake. Our daughter was 14 months when we bought our cabin and she was one of the main reasons for taking the plunge. This cabin has been named, Sierra's Base Camp, as a metaphor to giving our daughter the building blocks to learn, explore, grow, and to appreciate and respect the great outdoors.

What makes this cabin unique

We love how private and peaceful our house is because of the way it's nestled on the hillside. Our cabin instantly gives us a relaxed feeling when we walk inside, we call it, 'our happy place'. I also love the knotty pine wall and high arched ceiling with log beams and our vintage sled and skis. But our favorite part of the house is our gorgeous river rock fireplace!

Our cabin is located in the popular Moonridge area of Big Bear. We are perfectly located to provide easy access to all Big Bear has to offer throughout the year.

There are two Ski Resorts nearby: Bear Mountain Resort: only 1.9 miles from our cabin. Snow Summit: 3.2 miles (opens up to mountain bikers during the summer and they also provide a scenic ski lift ride to the top of the mountain-you can ride the lift back down or hike down). Big Bear Alpine Zoo is less than 2 miles. It's a great, little zoo with a lot of animals (grizzly and black bears, coyotes, wolves, bobcats, mountain lions, bald eagle, etc) for the kiddos to see up close (adults too!). All animals are rescued animals that would not survive if placed back in the wild. For golf enthusiasts, there is a 9 hole course less than 2 miles from our cabin. Big Bear Lake is also located a couple miles from our cabin. There are plenty of hiking trails to choose from depending on your fitness level and time allotment. Lastly, we have several restaurants a couple miles from the cabin, including two grocery stores and a convenient store.

We had a great time. It was exactly as described. Everything worked well, and was easy to use. The cabin was clean, private and very comfortable. We look forward to returning.

I went up to this cabin for 3 days with my two young kids and the cabin was great! Plenty of space and well laid out. It was also very clean. I will return for sure in the future. MK

Good cleaning crews are hard to come by

  • 2 of 5

With many vacation properties to choose from in Big Bear its hard to become a "repeat stay" kind of place unless you stand out. Upon arrival we found that our front door code was not properly entered, leaving us standing on the porch calling the owner for further instruction. Once we got into the place it was as pictured on the site and very comfortable. The cleanliness was a little questionable as we found long hair here and there, food wrappers under the kids beds, no trash can liners in the bedroom cans, one roll of paper towels, one roll of toilet paper for each bath room, and corn cobs on the deck by the hot tub. The hot tub itself had a scum ring inside around the top and there was a home made marijuana pipe discarded on the side of the deck. There was a full load of laundry left in the dryer and no washing supplies were found. On a positive note, there were kids toys for my children to play with and there was wood for 3 nights. We will keep looking for that "return stay" cabin in Big Bear

Owner's Response: Ryan, We have wanted to respond to your honest review earlier, but needed to make sure we finished the updates that we planned. First of all, the door code error was entirely our fault. We simply mis-coded the front door for your visit. For that we apologize for the inconvenience that caused you and your guests. With regards to the cabin, it certainly was time for some cleaning. As of this post, the cabin has undergone a deep cleaning program; the interior, windows, carpets, as well as the surrounding property have all been thoroughly cleaned. The hot tub has been purged and refilled, filters changed, and a new ozone system installed. On top of this we have spoken to our house cleaning services and shared your review. Our expectations for their services have been elevated, as we want to ensure that the level of service we receive in the future meets our and our guest’s expectations. Finally we have removed the carpet form the bathrooms, tiled the floors and installed all new bath fixtures. That all said, there is no second chance to make a fist impression, but we would love to get another opportunity to help you find that “return stay” cabin. Thanks, Brian & Teresa Koops

Perfect Family House

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect for families. Plenty of room, amenities were nice, and quick response from owners when we had a question. My husband made a great area in the back for our 5 and 3 year to sled down. We did not have to go anywhere else as they had fun there.
