Reviewer Comments:

This is our second time staying at this house, great location and we thoroughly enjoy having the dock on the river. Some suggestions for the owners...while the dog pen is nice it really isn't where most dog owners would leave their pets, would be very easy to fence the back yard to the water so the dogs could be out there with us and not have to worry about the busy road. Also A/C needs some updating as the back two bedrooms were much hotter than the rest of the house. Would definitely rent this house again.

Pictures do not do this place justice. The yard is gorgeous. We loved our time here and had a hard time leaving. Being able to bring our dog was a huge bonus and the dog run on the property was perfect.

Reviewer Comments:

Found the house and furnishing adequate. The windows facing the creek are indire need of curtains or shades. Beds were hard to get in and out of for old folks. House is difficult to find should have some kind of markings.

Reviewer Comments:

This was the perfect house for our son's wedding weekend! Everything was super clean when we arrived; even the porches and drive were blown off. The dock was a great place for our boat and hanging out with family and friends. The fact that it was pet friendly made it even better. Its' central location on the IOP is also a plus. Very impressed overall. Thanks Island Realty!

Great Location But...MOSQUITOS

  • 3 of 5

This is the second time staying at this rental and the house is clean and well-maintained. The location is perfect and the dock/floating dock on Hamlin Creek are perfect for days spent fishing. (Which is mostly what my family does when we go.) There were only two "downsides" to this house...but one of them was enough to make us consider somewhere else for next year's trip.

First - it was kept fairly cool in the house (73-74 degrees) but there are no throw blankets in the house to cover up if chilly. We had to bring out our beach towels when we got chilly while watching a movie on a rainy day.

Second - the mosquitos at this property are almost unbearable. We had to douse ourselves and our dog in DEET just to walk the dog. We couldn't utilize the porch, swings or chairs outsides because the mosquitos were absolutely horrendous. We avoided opening and shutting our car doors when possible because we got a ton of them inside the car. Down at the dock, the breeze kept the bugs at bay but it was impossible to enjoy the yard and outdoor area of the house because of the mosquitos. Even with bug spray I came back with bites all over my body. I realize mosquitos are common and normal especially in the lowcountry, but there has got to be something that they could do to help.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately, mosquitos are a part of the natural habit for South Carolina, and they have been abnormally prevalent this year. The city does spray every couple weeks on the island, but it has not seemed to help this year as much as years past. We will also inform the owners of the property to make sure they have extra blankets on hand in the future.
