About Surrey Bailey or Vera Bailey
We spent summers living in this house and working as teenagers in Rehoboth. How lucky were we. We have rented it out for the last 20 years or so and we like to make little improvements as we go along and get people's reactions as they return year to year.
Surrey Bailey or Vera Bailey purchased this House in 1986
Why Surrey Bailey or Vera Bailey chose South Rehoboth
Rehoboth has been in our family for generations. This home is now on its second. Rehoboth is our beach resort town. So much so, one of us owners lives locally now.
What makes this House unique
This house has lots of options for relaxing with friends. There are 6 different social areas within the house and backyard -- many more intimate places than the new construction homes with their open concept. Parking is generous for 4+ cars. There is a gaming table for the kids, plus board games and a library of books offered to the tenants. The house is fresh and light and a great place to be even if its pouring rain outside.

We loved our stay at the Sea Iris. We are an extended family of 11. One family has three young children, and the other family has two teenagers. Plus we had two grandparents along. The house was perfect for our family. Each adult couple had a private, very comfortable room. All the young children could be together in the bunk room. And the teenagers had their own room. Everyone slept very well and comfortably. The outer enclosed porch area was perfect for the kids to play in the morning while some adults and the teenagers still slept. The combination pool table/air hockey table was a great addition. The large table in the enclosed porch area was big enough for all of us to sit and eat together. On top of all that was a game/TV room for kids and/or adults to play and relax. And, the kitchen was large and ample and had an island in the middle which we found very helpful. In short, the interior of the house was perfect for us.
There was also an outdoor area which we ended up not using due to the weather, but it would be fabulous and it looked very peaceful and private. The location was excellent. We were only a block from the beach, so everyone was able to come and go as they pleased without loading up the vehicles. And we were six blocks from the main drag, so it was a cinch to go back and forth for meals and shopping.
Also, one of our party is extremely sensitive to air quality, chemicals, and odors due in part to a lung condition. This can be especially problematic in pet-friendly rentals, due to either the pets themselves or the chemical cleaners used to mask the pet odors. She is happy to report that she did not detect any smells or irritants of any kind.
We would highly recommend this property to anyone!
A family draw
We were in Rehoboth for a family reunion and rented this Stockley Street cottage for part of the larger family. Because this cottage has a super long table on the porch as well as a convertible game table, this cottage was a place we gathered for dinners among family members in two of the eight cottages rented for the reunion. It was perfect with seating outside as well. The children had a blast at the game table....and so did the adults. It was a very short walk to the beach as well as to Funland. The owners were very nice and helpful with any concerns and questions. We would recommend this rental heartily.
Very good property
Kitchen was up to date, very clean, backyard very good, gas and charcoal grills . Very nice outdoor furniture, outside shower was outstanding . Lots of tvs ,games and such .Easy walk to the beach . Air conditioning very good . Lots of kitchen stuff . All in all lots of space .
105 Stockley had lots of room & space for our group. Backyard was awesome!
Our group ranged from 1 to 90 years young & this house was a good fit for all. It was a short walk to beach & boardwalk yet far enough to be peaceful. The kitchen was very well stocked, TV's in all bedrooms, strong Central A/C & porch with game table were highlights. We brought our dogs & the private fenced yard kept everyone safe & happy. We ate almost every meal in the yard which is very comfortably furnished. The owners were quick to respond to our questions. We would definitely stay here again-great time!
Comfortable home in a great location!
I recently stayed here with my two kids (ages 4 mo. and 2 yo.), husband, brother, sister, mother and father. There was more than enough room to accommodate all of us.
The accommodations were great. The bedrooms were big and the beds were comfortable. I rented linens from Sheets at the Beach, which I don't regret. The bathrooms, while they show their wear, were clean and the showers had pretty good water pressure. The extra long table in the patio was perfect (even too big) for my family for meal times. We spent lots of time cooking and eating in and found it to be a joy to use the kitchen and the outdoor gas grill. To our surprise, we found a booster seat and a bassinet in the house, even though we had rented/brought our own. My only minor complaint would be that the walls were pretty thin, which required us to stay quiet while the baby was sleeping. All in all though, I was very very happy.
As far as location, this place is great! The 1.5 blocks to the beach is easy walking, even while carrying an infant. The house is on a quiet street, but only a few blocks away is Rehobeth Avenue, which we frequented by foot several times a day. It was great to be able to just walk back and forth from the house to the beach, Funland, and all of the restaurants on the boardwalk.
The owners were very responsive and it was easy working with them.
Thank you for the great review. Much appreciated. I agree the walls are thin but the house is 108 years old and they just didn't do that in those summer "cottages". We've provided some table fans and a box fan to help people sleep if they need a white noise to buffer the voices of all the fun happening throughout 😊 Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Great value and location
Our group of 13 had a great time in this rental. Owners were available via phone and text and were helpful in fixing a couple of maintenance issues that came up during the stay. We had an issue with the kitchen sink/garbage disposal, but they sent out a repairman ASAP to get it fixed. The house itself is nice and has everything you need, along with a great backyard. It was great to have living and dining space where the entire group could be together. Very close to both the beach and the bars and restaurants. Overall, we had a great experience.
2.5 hours east of DC and one of DC's main Beach Resort Towns. 1 Mile of Boardwalk with FUNLAND amusement park, an impressive guarded beach, dozens of restaurants from pizza to high end cuisine, variety of shopping options - all within walking distance of the property. There are also local water parks, impressive Tanger Outlet Shopping (no sales tax in DE), nature trails, historic towns, access to boating, watersports, biking, and so much more. During high season or low, going to the beach is a great change of pace. Some people say its better 'off season'. You should check it out then too.
