Why Maria Papa chose Cape Cod

The warm waters of Craigville Beach on the Nantucket Sound are second to none on Cape Cod. After a day at the beach, enjoy the best homemade ice cream in the world at Four Seas in Centerville -- just a short walk up the street. Fishing and Blue Crabbing is also plentiful in the Centerville River. Bring your kayak and launch from the public Way to Water on the Centerville River just two doors down form this property, or fish from the crabbing bridge, again, just a few steps away.

Enjoy historic Centerville for a real, old-fashioned Cape Cod vacation while having all of the restaurants and shops of downtown Hyannis just a short few minutes drive away.

Hyannis Harbor is less than 3 and half miles away. Here you can catch a ferry boat to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket Island for a day of exploring or bike riding. Cycling enthusiasts won’t want to miss a day cycling the peaceful and quaint Nantucket Island. Just grab your lunch in a day pack and cycle through the lovely streets of Hyannis Port to Hyannis Harbor to board you and your bike on the Nantucket Ferry. And don’t forget that Cape Cod offers the quintessential mini-golf experience. We’ve played all over The Cape, and our favorites are Pirates Cove and Skull Island, both located a short distance away on Rt. 28. But please don’t feel like you need to remember any of this. As your hosts, we provide plenty of advice before your trip as to our favorite places to buy the freshest seafood, whale watch, deep sea fish, or just enjoy a nice seafood dinner like a local.

What makes this house unique

This property is lovingly professionally decorated and pristine. It provides a luxuriously comfortable vacation stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Even though it rained for the majority of our stay. It was a peaceful and relaxing time for my family of 4 to all be together in this beautiful house by the water. The homeowners provided suggestions to their favorite restaurants and we certainly did take advantage of that list. We appreciated these tried and true eateries which were all truly exceptional. Between the board games in the house, ladder ball on the back lawn, kayaking on the inlet, and the kids hooking up their computers to the enormous smart tv in the living room so we could have family film nights, our time spent together in your home has been perhaps one of most memorable family vacations.

Great vacation / house / location - 3rd year in a row

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our yearly vacation in Cape Cod and we have stayed at this house now for the third time. It was a great week, the weather was spectacular and staying at a house that is so centrally located to downtown Hyannis, the ferries to Martha Vineyard and Nantucket, and 1 block walk to Centerville Beach (the best beach on Cape Cod btw) made the stay fantastic - again. We love the house layout having a full master suite upstairs in addition to a second one downstairs which makes for plenty of room for the entire family. The owners keep upgrading the house with new appliances, upgraded TV's, new grill, and full compliment of pots, pans, and utensils, in addition to keeping it meticulously maintained and extremely responsive. This has become a yearly tradition for my family and we look forward to coming back again and enjoying the Cape and staying at this house.

Perfect family weekend

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd time back and quite honestly see it being a family tradition for years to come. The house was very clean and stocked with just about everything we could have needed. It has such a cozy feel and the light shines through all day long. The proximity to the beach and towns is major bonus.

Our Family vacation tradition on Cape Cod

  • 5 of 5

We just booked our 3rd consecutive summer vacation at this property and our family just cannot wait. This house (and location) are ideal for our family of six with myself and wife, our daughter and son-in-law, as well as their two small children.

We have friends on Cape Cod and find this home ideal for entertaining with “happy hour” on the back deck after a day at the wonderful and nearby Craigville Beach. We’ve been visiting the Cape for decades, and we’re not alone in believing Craigville Beach to be one of the most enjoyable and family-friendly beaches on Cape Cod. It is expansive with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the water and long walks. if you if you enjoy walking or jogging an endless stretch of beach at sunset, then you can’t beat this home as it is literally almost right on top of Craigville Beach (literally one block away).

With small children in our party, we also like the fact that the house is situated on a cul-de-sac at the same time as being so close to Craigville Beach. The beach traffic can get pretty heavy even at the end of the summer season, but we find being off the main road keeps the house quiet as well as being safer for the children when they are out and about in the yard.

Most of our correspondence with the owners has been through email, but on the handful of occasions that we’ve needed to call or text message with questions, we’ve found Dave and Maria to be exceedingly prompt and helpful in addressing our issues. Maria especially seems to be the consummate hospitality professional and we found her genuinely invested in the enjoyment of our family vacation. The house is very well equipped, clean and well maintained with everything you need to enjoy the time away. The house is perfect for our family vacations.

In all, we highly recommend this beach house to families with small children or grandchildren like ours and the location could not be better situated on the Cape for daily access to the best beach on Cape Cod and to take trips around to explore. This has now become part of our family tradition.

PERFECT family weekend

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my parents and grandparents (6 of us) over Memorial Day and the stay lived up to all our expectations and more. The house comfortably accommodated all of us and was exactly as pictured. We were very happy with the cleanliness and condition. It was also equipped with everything we could have needed (all kitchen appliances, towels, beach chairs, kayak, etc) and everything was in very good condition. The dining room area may have been my favorite with the wonderful light that would shine through the house and the views of the water way. The deck was also very nice to sit out on to have our morning coffee.

The proximity to Craigsville beach was a major plus. Most days we would choose to walk to the beach however it also made it very easy to drive over to drop off my grandparents so that they could spend time with us there also. The home is located a few doors in from a main road but we were never bothered by any noise from it.

Overall, we were very pleased with our entire stay and would absolutely return.

Thanksgiving by the Sea

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 6 and stayed in this lovely house during the Thanksgiving holiday. We enjoyed the proximity to Craigville Beach for long walks and the salty air everywhere. It was a real treat to eat our Thanksgiving meal with the exceptional views from the dinning area of this home onto the water. Watching seagulls, and even a great heron on the water during our holiday meal was a fantastic experience for everyone — young and old alike.

Our adult children went off on their own excursions, so when it was time to roll out the provided fold-out crib for our youngest grandchild, we were completely at a loss and the owner responded to our dilemma immediately, springing into action and sending over the owner of their cleaning service to help us out. Within 20 minutes of our initial call for help, Ana was knocking at our door and happily gave us a tutorial in pop-out cribs, which proved embarrassingly simple. The house was fully equipped, clean, and made our stay fantastic.

A big thank you to the owners and the house-keeping staff for our stay in your immaculate and beautiful home. We are already booked for our vacation at this home for early this summer. Family and I are looking forward to another family gathering!

Pros and Cons

  • 2 of 5

Your unique priorities will determine whether this is a good property for you. (My husband and I rented 10/8-29/16. We owned homes on Cape Cod for 9 years, so we are aware of the special challenges.)

Pros:

1. The house is literally a 3-minute walk to one of the best beaches on Cape Cod.

2. The house has an unusually large number of bathrooms (3) for the number of bedrooms (3).

3. The second floor of the house is one large master BR with good work space (if that matters to you). Tiny glimpses of Nantucket Sound from the tiny balcony. (NOT "sweeping views"!)

4. Gorgeous sunset views of the river.

5. The owner is pleasant to work with.

Cons:

1. Mold on all the upholstery in the dining room and living room causing a musty smell in the house and teary eyes (even though I covered the dining room chair seats with towels). Gross!

2. Mold in the bathrooms. Again, gross!

3. Mouse traps and ant traps scattered in several rooms. Unnerving!

4. Just one house away from a very busy and noisy road. Yes, even in October without the crowds and with all the windows shut, the noise was surprisingly bad.

5. No privacy from the neighbors, especially if you are outside.

6. Very steep and narrow steps to the second floor.

So, although VRBO encouraged me to write a 5-star review I had to be honest to help you, my fellow traveler.

Owner's Response: It is our goal to provide our guests with a care-free summer vacation, exceeding your expectations for the perfect Cape Cod summer retreat. Our cell phone number is listed on every piece of communication sent throughout the booking process, and we respond to guests concerns immediately. If for any reason upon check-in, you have concerns regarding our property, we have a local staff on hand to address these concerns immediately. In the case of this reviewer, her concerns were not made known to us until after the completion of her stay. We have addressed the concerns brought up in this review. All of the furniture cushions have been replaced. This property is very close to the water, so salty sea air is inevitably everywhere, but inside the home, the air quality is controlled. The happiness of our guests means the world to us and we are committed to providing a memorable experience at this charming Cape Cod beach house.
