Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bath, a Beautiful View of the Bay, Nearby Beach, Wildlife Refuge

We have looked for the perfect beach house for many years! We finally found it in the summer of 2014. This cottage sits on a secluded 4 acre lot surrounded by live oaks and huge pines! You can enjoy the sunrise and sunsets overlooking Mobile Bay while sitting on your screen porch or out on your private dock. Bringing along a canoe or small boat, you have your own small boat launch from the yard.

This cottage is one of a kind! The interior is a classic with heart pine floors, walls and ceilings. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, with the master suite having its own bath. The other two bedrooms share a lovely bath. There is a laundry room with washer and dryer. The kitchen includes a full stove and oven, dishwasher, and all the necessary cooking supplies to make it possible to prepare your own meals. Or you may drive just a couple of miles to enjoy fine cuisine at a number of restaurants at the Beach Club or in Gulf Shores.

Mobile Bay is a fisherman's paradise! You can fish off your private dock, catch live crab with one of the traps on site, or put your boat in and enjoy the bay.

If you enjoy the beach side of Ft Morgan, the Mobile St public beach is a short drive (or bicycle) away. I love to walk or run the Pine Beach Trail across highway 180 through Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. See photos to see the beauty! If you like to ride bicycles, there is a nice bike trail just down the road that goes all the way into Gulf Shores. The cottage is only about 8 miles from Gulf Shores, close enough to run to town for groceries!

Perfect Setting

  • 5 of 5

This rental "fit the bill" for a short get-away in a beautiful setting. The home fit our needs and surpassed in many regards. Furnishings were comfortable, kitchen well stocked , & quiet surroundings which made for good rest. The view from the screened porch couldn't be beat. Plenty of time spent on that porch from early mornings and again in the evenings. Always nice to be greeted by a "clean" rental and no problem there. Plenty of linens and starter paper items via Reed Realty. Check-in/out process went smoothly. We enjoyed great seafood meals in the nearby area + enjoyed biking & hiking. Wish we'd had a kayak to explore more of the Bay ... maybe next time. Thanks, Maggie, for sharing your home!

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful time at the Bay Cottage. The owners and the rental agency where great. The Cottage is beautiful and so cozy. The view and setting is perfect. It was so relaxing and private. We could not of asked for a better place. We will definitely go back for a longer stay next time. Three nights was not enough!

Home Sweet Home!

  • 5 of 5

Mark Johnston, my husband, and I own the Bay Cottage! We were there last week and absolutely love it when we get a few days to relax, fish and explore the Pine Beach Trail through the Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge and the beach. We had searched for years to find a hideaway such as this... on the quiet side of the "beach" at Mobile Bay... on a 4 acre private acreage... and yet so close to town, shopping, and restaurants. Although we much prefer to catch our own suppers and grill fish at home!

Spring Break

  • 4 of 5

What a quaint, cosy cottage with a great bay view. We had a relaxing time. Trip to town wasn't too far. Joe, the dog, had a great time. The only downside was Reed Realty not meeting our needs.

Bayfront cottage

Fantastic location and setting. The doors did not lock and that was concerning. WISH THEY WOULD FIX THAT. Loved the the isolation.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay at our wonderful Bay Cottage! There is a note on the bulletin board explaining the way to lock the Anderson doors. YOu must lift the handle then lock. Guess we need to post it somewhere more visible. Sorry that worried you. Wish you had given me a call to ask how to do it. Come again soon!

Nice cottage, but not clean when we arrived

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful cottage. We enjoyed the quiet surroundings, sunsets and stars at night. The owners have done a good job, but Reed Realty did not. The cottage was not clean when we arrived. The windows were so dirty we could not see out. There was dog hair on the sofa cover, dog hair all over the porch and sand on all the seat covers on the screened in porch. The porch at the front door was covered with big limbs and leaves and debris when we arrived; not a very welcoming sight after driving 9 hours. I brought this to the attention of Reed Realty, but never received a response.

Owner's Response: I am so sorry for the cleanliness issue. I talked to Reed realty about this and they said a storm blew through that day that brought down lots of limbs and leaves. They also worked with the housekeepers to be sure they always check the couch for dog hairs. I wish folks with pups would cover the couch before letting their dogs on it! I wish you had called me right away as well as writing a review here. I could have had someone there to clean within minutes. To those who see this review... know my assistance is only a call away! Maggie
