Coconut Cottage – St John
This is the way the Caribbean used to be, old world Caribbean when ships carried sugar cane from the islands plantations to Europe. When pirates sailed the Caribbean in search of treasures and riches!
No high heels here! Your private oasis awaits, this was built for romance and tranquility. Set on the hillside overlooking the harbor, in a jungle setting with plenty of palms, plants, and flowers.....we were inspired by the Robinson Crusoe novel! Sip a morning coffee on the cottage deck and watch fish boats slip out of the harbor in search of marlin, tuna and more.
At night look up and admire the theater of stars and the beauty of the lights on St John.
Experience the raw real Caribbean, like Tarzan and Jane…..be savage in this luxury eco-cottage!
The outdoor garden jungle grotto is comprised of a large stone shower, pergola draped Hot Tub, hammock, and coconut palm thatched cabana with love bed!
The view from the deck looks over tree tops down to Chocolate Hole Bay….hosting a small collection of sailboats and fish boats. At the end of the bay is a beach worthy of a visit, collect shells, snorkel with the fish!
Interior features include a small kitchenette, ceiling fans, air conditioning, flat screen TV with cable, wireless internet, ipod docking system, and cd/dvd player.
The cottage deck features include a gas grill, table and chairs for outside dining, and loungers for sun time!
The property has an abundance of beautiful tropical plants and palm trees. Listen to the tree frogs at night and watch the hummingbirds, bananaquits, and iguanas during the day. You are a 10 minute walk to the Westin resort and a 4 to 5 minute drive to Cruz Bay. We strive to keep our property crystal clean and maintained for your safety and enjoyment.
Enjoy two COMPLIMENTARY KAYAKS! COMPLIMENTARY SNORKEL GEAR, BEACH CHAIRS & COOLERS!. BBQ!
You can admire the view all day long, this is a private setting.....hidden by palms and tropical plants. Located in the upscale residential neighborhood Chocolate Hole. The property oozes with romance and tranquility.
includes kayaks, snorkel gear
This "Coconut Cottage" was exactly as pictured! We had a wonderful relaxing week here. It felt like our own private little jungle with special amenities. So private that clothes were optional! The hot tub and grotto shower were perfect for relaxing after a day at the beach. We will definitely re-book in the future.
Just wanted to say “thank you” my fiancé and I had a wonderful stay at the
Coconut Cottage! We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back again!
The great aspect of the cottage is the privacy and natural setting!! It is set up to be a very romantic experience!! We loved the layout and openness of the room, the beautiful décor, the fresh linens, thick towels, it all made for a great experience.
What was especially wonderful was the outdoor area.
We loved using the hot tub and taking a shower in the natural stone shower outside and then relaxing after on the outdoor day bed while sipping drinks…this was an experience we will always cherish!
The views were beautiful!!
There’s also an outdoor fridge so we always had cold drinks at hand.
A 5 minute walk or 2 minute drive and we were on the beach in Chocolate Hole swimming, sunning and kayaking. The kayaks were provided by the owners as well as the snorkeling gear. What was nice is you really did not have to leave or go far to enjoy the ocean beach.
This place is very eco-friendly and natural which we like and appreciate.
We had a wonderful vacation and highly recommend this place.
My husband and I were on our 15 anniversary trip and the Coconut Cottage was the perfect romantic getaway for us! We were blown away by the beauty, privacy, location and the details that the cottage provided. The outdoor shower was our favorite part of the place! Showering in the beautiful scenery and looking out over the ocean was amazing! Paul was so responsive to any question we had and he has really thought of all the details needed for staying on the island, including a cooler, beach towels and even extra toiletries in case you run out! This is a great place to stay if you like to be surrounded by nature. Though we saw plenty of lizards, hermit crabs, a frog and even an iguana on our porch we never saw a single insect or critter in the cottage! The raised bed also provides some nice peace of mind when sleeping:) We can't wait to come back!
Coconut Cottage is a truly unique place to stay on St. John. We stayed there for 8 days in June, 2016. It is very private and offers the kind of romantic get-a-way appeal that is hard to find. Coconut Cottage has a hot tub, a day bed overlooking Chocolate Hole, a great outside shower near the hot tub, a deck with a great view of the bay and all the amenities anyone could want. Snorkeling gear, kayaks, beach chairs, floats are all provided wit for your time at the many beautiful beaches on St. John with no charge. The cottage has all the needs for preparing your own meals with a full size refrigerator, a stove, coffee maker, and a microwave. The cottage has all the dishes, dining utensils that you could want. If you want to dine in Cruz Bay in any of the many great restaurants there you are only five minutes away. You will need your own transportation because of the location. We rented a Jeep right at the airport on St. Thomas which was very convenient. We got off the plane, picked up the Jeep, threw our luggage in the back of the Jeep and headed for the ferry to St. John. On the way to the ferry we took a tip from Paul and shopped at a place on St. Thomas for food that we wanted for the stay on St. John. Paul recommended "Costs You Less", which is on the way to the ferry, where we found everything we needed at a considerable saving from shopping on St. John. Renting a vehicle on St. Thomas is usually less expensive than renting on the island.
We went to a different bay on St. John every day for snorkeling, hiking, etc. We would stop at one of the island places, i.e. Skinny Legs, for lunch and then come back to Coconut Cottage for a dip in the hot tub before resting for the afternoon. We would shop and dine in Cruz Bay in the evening. There are really great restaurants in Cruz Bay. We enjoyed Extra Virgin as our favorite, but Tapas, Longboard, and the Fish Trap are close seconds.
Nights in Coconut Cottage are very quiet. I don't remember ever hearing any sounds from the houses on the other side of Chocolate Hole. There were many times I got up to go outside and sit on the deck to enjoy the stars and the quiet night time view of the bay. Incidentally, there is good snorkeling right in Chocolate Hole. We saw a large school of Blue Tang, turtles, beautiful parrot fish and squid while snorkeling in Chocolate Hole.
Coconut Cottage was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. I can recommend it without reservation
We stayed at Coconut Cottage for a week (last week). Paul and Joan have done a fabulous job on the property. If we needed anything Colby took care of it for us. The outdoor shower was enjoyed everyday as was the hot tub. We rented a Jeep at the airport this time at Paul's suggestion and it was nicer than riding a cab to Red Hook. The location is close enough to Cruz Bay as well.
My girlfriend and I just got back from 1 week at this little piece of parardise. I'm not one to typically take the time to write a review, but this place deserves it! Paul and Joan were amazing hosts. They were never there except one day he stopped by to say hello and meet us. He gave ample notice though the day prior and let us choose whether or not we wanted him to stop by. He was a very nice guy and the experience was far superior than we expected. Everything we needed was already there. Pots, pans, toilet paper, shampoo, sun screen, etc.. Everything other than food which was fine because we ate out majority of the time. The view of Chocolate Hole was amazing and offered a great view of the sunset. It was remote, with no neighbors within a 100 yards, but still a close 2-3 minute drive to town. If and when we go back, we are more than likely giving Paul a call to reserve this same place.
