About Daniel Millar
Owners, Danny & Teres, are a Scottish / American couple who are teachers (retired), visual artists and savvy travelers. We have created a space that we, ourselves, would enjoy staying in while away from home.
Daniel Millar purchased this Cottage in 2014
Why Daniel Millar chose North End
This cottage is next door to our 1904 family residence. We bought the house, built in 1908, to create a guest house for friends, family and visitors to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We have preserved the integrity of this post Victorian cottage, while adding modern comforts.
What makes this Cottage unique
Our North End neighborhood is a very desirable area of Tacoma. Our location is quiet and safe, yet only minutes away from the vibrant Proctor District and also the University of Puget Sound. It is perfect for UPS' Parents Weekends, graduations etc. It is an ideal spot for those traveling on business. It is centrally located to explore the Seattle / Tacoma area, ski slopes, Puget Sound and Pacific Ocean beaches, waterways and islands. All can be day trips. Tacoma is in the midst of a cultural revival as found in such places as the Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of International Glass, the Washington State Historical Museum and the LeMay Car Museum. Cottage is ideally located for golfers wishing to play Chambers Bay, home of the 2015 US Open.

A home away from home
Thistledown is meticulously cared for, is charming and well located, and Danny and Teres are lovely. We hosted a family reunion in Tacoma and Thistledown was our home away from home while the Thistledown deck was our central family gathering place. It couldn't have been more perfect.
Everything was perfect. Location, owners, bed, amenities.
We will be back again and again. The owners were so very kind, The home is in the middle of the Proctor District where it is safe and there are fantastic restaurants and shopping and near-by parks to walk and decompress. The bed was comfy, kitchen had everything we needed. The street is very quiet so no concerns getting a good night sleep. The deck looks perfect but had no time to enjoy it this time, but will enjoy it the next we stay.
Perfect guests who are welcome back any time. Thank you for leaving the cottage in immaculate condition. Hope to see you again in the near future.
Truly a home away from home
Where do I begin? This is an impeccably maintained property in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood. The owners' care and attention is matched only by their hospitality. It is a charming place, in every sense. My wife and I look forward to returning on our next trip.
We were welcomed in person by our hosts and what a charming, kind couple they are! They showed us through their beautiful cottage to make sure we knew where everything was and how it worked, assuring us that if anything, anything! went haywire, they would be there immediately to help. It all worked perfectly and the only help we needed was a book of matches to light a birthday cake which they promptly supplied. Every room in the cottage is beautifully decorated to be warm and inviting. The kitchen had everything we needed including coffee, spices, oils, and much more. We cooked a few meals and ate there because who needed to go out when staying in was so comfortable? Each of the 3 of us thought it was lovely and plan to be back when events bring us to the area.
