Thistledown cottage is an absolute gem in the Proctor neighborhood of Tacoma. Walkable to restaurants, shops, classic old bowling alley and a Saturday market. The house is warm and charming with a magnificent deck. Danny and Teres are wonderful hosts and amazing and kind people. We love this house and will return every chance we get.
My wife and I stayed three nights and loved everything about the property. Great location, very well appointed and beautiful deck for relaxing. Danny and Teres were so nice and welcoming we would recommend this place over the other ten plus locations we’ve stayed at in Tacoma.

This was our third stay at Thistledown Cottage, and was every bit as wonderful as our previous visits. Danny and Teres remain exemplary hosts, their warmth and kindness is reflected in the property, which feels like home as soon as you enter. We look forward to returning!
We are repeat customers at Thistledown Cottage and can’t express enough how much we enjoy it. The owners, Danny and Teres are fantastic hosts and alway communicate perfectly. We visit from Massachusetts to attend events at the University of Puget Sound and consider this cottage as our home away from home.

About the host
Hosted by Daniel Millar
Owners, Danny & Teres, are a Scottish / American couple who are teachers (retired), visual artists and savvy travelers. We have created a space that we, ourselves, would enjoy staying in while away from home.
Why they chose this property
This cottage is next door to our 1904 family residence. We bought the house, built in 1908, to create a guest house for friends, family and visitors to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We have preserved the integrity of this post Victorian cottage, while adding modern comforts.
What makes this property unique
Our North End neighborhood is a very desirable area of Tacoma. Our location is quiet and safe, yet only minutes away from the vibrant Proctor District and also the University of Puget Sound. It is perfect for UPS' Parents Weekends, graduations etc. It is an ideal spot for those traveling on business. It is centrally located to explore the Seattle / Tacoma area, ski slopes, Puget Sound and Pacific Ocean beaches, waterways and islands. All can be day trips. Tacoma is in the midst of a cultural revival as found in such places as the Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of International Glass, the Washington State Historical Museum and the LeMay Car Museum.
