In Mari Via- 'On the Path to the Sea'
Located at the east end Federal Road.... directly on the way to the ocean!
4 bedroom, 4 1/2 bath house located in Cape Fear Station at the eastern tip of Bald Head Island. Located just past the BHI conservancy, on the way to East Beach and the Shoals club. An easy flip-flop friendly, two minute walk to both East and South beaches, Turtle Central and the Cape Fear Station Park.
2015 was our first year in our beautiful BHI retreat & the home's first year ever as a rental property.
Built as a Charleston 'side-yard' style house, our home has a quaint covered porch entrance from the street and a huge, private courtyard at the side of the house with plentiful teak seating and shady palm trees. On balmy summer evenings, this is a great place to enjoy easy conversations with family and friends while listening the relaxing sound of ocean waves in the background.
Inside, the house has 10 to 12 foot ceilings throughout and is light, bright & airy. Beautiful heart-pine floors throughout downstairs. The kitchen is modern and open to adjacent separate dining room and family room in front of house. Up just a few steps from the main level, there is a large, well appointed, downstairs master bedroom with king bed, private entrance, spacious vaulted ceilings and master bath with large, spa-like, walk-in shower. Second floor has a very spacious second master bedroom with king bed, also with vaulted ceilings and walk in shower. Third bedroom has a queen bed, bay window, vaulted ceiling and pretty tiled bathroom with double vanity. Both upstairs bedrooms open onto the screened in porch- wonderful for enjoying a morning cup of coffee while watching the sun rise over the tree tops.
The fourth bedroom is a favorite for the kids in our family who feel that they have their own special 'tree-house'. Located up an outside, spiral staircase, in the 'crofter' above the two-cart garage, this room as twin beds and it's own bathroom. Outside is a small private deck that is perfect for doing a little astronomy on a warm, starry, summer evening. (There is a telescope kept up there just for this purpose.)

Our family moved to North Carolina in 1988. While originally from England, we really feel that North Carolina is our home. We have enjoyed exploring the varied environs our state has to offer over the last 25 years. However, Bald Head Island has now become our favorite place to which we love to 'get away'.
Michael purchased this house in 2014
There is nowhere more restful than Bald Head Island. However, for our family, rest and relaxation does not mean boring! We love exploring the maritime forest, biking around the island, hunting for shells on the shoals, and building sandcastles on the beach. We are outside from dawn to dusk... and often are back on the beach by moonlight (perhaps with a few glow sticks for a little extra fun)!
At your doorstep is all that BHI has to offer; maritime forest, beautiful uncrowded beach, the Cape Fear Station park with evening concerts in the summer, and of course the BHI Concervancy and the Shoals club. We love the east end of the Island- it is just that little bit more remote, but yet convenient to all the right things!
A pretty retreat with wonderful outdoor spaces and a beautiful home-base to come back to.
In Mari Via was a well appointed, finely decorated, extremely comfortable and a lovely new home. I encourage all that stay here, to keep it that way. It truly felt like our home. Our families had wonderful memories here cooking, beaching, fishing, hiking, turtle searching, birding, star gazing and hanging out at this welcoming well-designed beach getaway. The new deck was a great gathering place for our large meals and late night star gazing. The beds were a dream. Each room was just right for each member of the family. The home's location to Turtle central was a plus and also a quick cart/bike ride to East beach and Cape Fear point. The entire family took at least one class at the conservancy and had a blast. The home had all that you could need for your holiday right down to beach towels and chairs. The grille worked like a charm. I personally enjoyed the centrally located kitchen since it was the "center" of action every morning and evening. Mike, our home owner, was an accommodating host and answered all my many questions. The Management team was helpful and attended to our AC problems ASAP. Mariah from management was available to answer questions and eager to help us out. The week went all too fast and BHI is something special. Wish I could keep it secret!
Our family had a spectacular time while staying at In Mari Via. The home's owner, Michael, was unbelievably responsive to all of our requests, and took great pride in his beautiful get-away. The newly built home was thoughtfully laid out, and was well stocked with games, books, bicycles, beach gear, kitchen equipment, etc. The just-finished deck was a great gathering spot for our family members as was the upper screened porch. As a whole, the home was quite comfortable for our family. We loved being so close to the Shoal's Club and East Beach. This was our 7th year renting at BHI, and this home certainly did not disappoint. Two thumbs up from us!!
Bald Head Island, a unique, relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Once on the island, you can't help but feel that everything slows down to 'Island Time'. Only accessible by passenger ferry or private boat, once on the island transportation is by golf cart or bicycle... maximum speed of 18 miles per hour!
At the east end of BHI is Frying Pan shoals. These shoals stretch out for miles and are continually shifting. At low tide, you can walk out along these shoals with the ocean either side of you. Often you can find little treasures along the way- shells, shark egg casings and starfish.
