Night Heron Park, The East beach Market, The Spa and Shops at The Sanctuary are all just a short 5 minute walk from the front door. The beach is right out your back door. Even the beach boardwalk connects to your back porch!

The open lay out of this villa and casual beach furnishings add to your comfort. The spacious living room offers views of the sand dunes and two doors to access the private porch. The updated kitchen opens to the dining area seating 6 with additional seating for 2 at the bar.

The master suite has a large private bath, comfortable king bed, large mounted flat screen TV, Kiawah nature views, and access to a private porch with a lounge chair.

The first of 2 guest rooms is off the living room and has a queen bed, flat screen TV, private bath, and access to a back porch. Down the hall and to the left is the second guest room with two twin beds and flat screen TV. This room also has a private bath and access to the back porch.

IDEAL Location at Windswept Villa, Walk-Out to Beach!

Not as nice as I'd hoped.

The space worked for our family, but I wish these places would more accurately describe their floorplans. The "second" master suite opened (with double doors) on to the family room and kitchen area allowing for not quite the level of privacy grown adults might want. In addition, while it is a VERY short walk to the beach, there was NO VIEW of the beach at all. You could look out and see only the greenery of the dune area between the beach and the building. Further, certain items were missing like a useable flashlight and a kitchen scissors. We had difficulty with the lockbox and while the management said it would be replaced, that didn't happen while we were there. Finally, and this is me being picky, the return vent for the AC was filthy. For a place that is presumably cleaned once or more per week in the summer you'd think that someone could have wiped that down. We've stayed at Windswept Villas before but not this unit. Love the beach there and this location, but next time I'd try a different unit.

We were very excited to arrive, as this was the first time in 15 years that we stayed so close to the beach. The very first thing that struck us when we walked through the front door was the moldy/musty smell in the condo. The air vents in the ceiling were all dripping onto the floor. Also, there is a towel stuffed into one of the vents in the living room ceiling that has mold growing on it. I was very concerned about this as my daughters and myself all have asthma. I had to buy a can of febreeze at the store to try to mask the smell to get me through the week.

Apparently the cleaning people were either in a rush or have difficulty seeing because they left the previous occupants dirt behind the kitchen garbage can. All the wallpaper in the kitchen has food splashed onto it, the counter top corners were dirty, the stove top had left over food on it, the floor was dirty , all the base boards were full of dirt as well as every corner of the house. I could go on and on. I had never been in a place that was so dirty and dated. I had to disinfect every counter top and door/drawer handle before touching it. Yes, there are granite counter tops, but they are placed onto old cabinets that are in disrepair. My one daughter's bedroom door is broken at the top and the bed skirt on one of the twin beds had huge holes in it! There are items one can use to clean the floors, but those are broken. The vacuum cleaner bottom was duck taped together and really was useless to try to vacuum. So I tried to use the broom and dust pan, but the dust pan was warped! So much for picking up sand that inevitably gets tracked in. Then there was the glass shower door that fell off in my hands in the master bathroom. That was the icing on the cake!

We have stayed at 5 other properties on Kiawah in the past. None of them were managed by Sweetgrass. They all were in better repair and far more clean. This is the very first time in the 15 years that I had to write a complaint. I feel the homeowner is responsible as well. I was surprised that they would not take more pride in their property by fixing/taking care of minor items that needed attention, such as a ripped bed skirt. My husband had to fix the door going out to the main deck because it would not close to lock.

I did call about the shower door and did get a timely response from maintenance as well as a very minor reduction in rental cost, but I feel it should not have needed to happen in the first place.

Kiawah Island is one of the most legendary barrier islands along the Southeast. It has long been the standard in private island luxury. With more than 10,000 natural wooded acres and 10 miles of pristine beaches, Kiawah is an island to be explored. And explore you will. Kiawah boasts five championships golf courses. Of course, the crown jewel is the famed Ocean Course. Known for it’s unrelenting play, the course was site of the 1991 Ryder Cup, the 2007 Senior PGA Championship and site of the 2012 PGA Championship. If golf isn’t your game, Kiawah was recently ranked #1 by Tennis Magazine in its list of the “Greatest US Tennis Resorts.” There are several different restaurants that Kiawah has to offer, as well. The Bohicket Marina is nearby where you can rent boats, fishing charters, boat charters, kayak rentals, etc. Freshfields Village contains your local grocery store and many shops and restaurants.
