About Brian McCabe

I own another home on the same lake and purchased this cabin so my relatives wouldn't have to stay with me when they came to visit. I am renting out all of the unused weeks.

Brian McCabe purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Brian McCabe chose Side Lake

This cabin has over 300 feet of lakeshore on a level lot. It has a beautiful view of the lake and over 17 acres of wooded land that provides for deer hunting and exploring opportunities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Camp 46 is truly an amazing place to rent. The 8.5 hour drive from Chicago is well worth it. This is the second year my family spent the week of Fourth of July at Camp 46. Fishing, Fourth of July Celebration, tubing, jet skiing, playing games, the wild life, sunrises, sunsets and pontoon rides, made for a great family vacation! Thank you Brian McCabe for all of the memories my family has created at your cabin! You are one gracious host and we find ourselves lucky to have found Camp 46!

Camp 46 is a cozy cabin with a large level yard built for fun. The swimming is great and some of the best fishing on the chain of lakes is just out from the dock. There is a nice fire ring, with an ample supply of firewood provided, for evenings of hotdog roasting and S'mors. There is a really cool tent site across a foot bridge, in the trees just above the water with its own sandy swimming beach. It is 200 feet from the cabin and visible from the kitchen window. Perfect spot for the kids to camp on their own but still close enough to for comfort.

This was my first time renting a cabin and I would definitely stay there again. Very quiet and plenty of things to do.

Wonderful Fall Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Convinced some out-of-state friends to visit northern Minnesota with me, and Brian's cabin exceeded expectations! Not only was the cabin cozy and comfortable, it was also well-stocked with all that you would need and more (including with kitchen items, toiletries, games, and books - things that you might easily forget). Brian was an excellent host who was flexible with check-in and check-out, offering suggestions about the area. He also kindly took us out on his pontoon to complete the lake life experience. The weekend was far too short and we will never forget our time at Camp 46!

Wonderful cabin retreat

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from a fabulous weeklong stay at Camp 46. There were 7 of us(5 adults & 2 kids) and we were quite comfortable. I can see why all the previous reviewers have given this cabin 5 stars. The cabin itself was very clean with a great layout and every amenity you could possibly need (even 2 full sized refrigerators!). The bathroom is nice and large and the shower area/sink can be completely closed off from the toilet for privacy.

We were all amazed with how well equipped the cabin was: 2 kayaks, 2 canoes, 2 peddle boats, fishing boat and a pontoon. And the shed provided even more entertainment with beach toys (10yr old girl and 6yr old boy loved building sand castles), rafts and tubing gear as well as lawn games such as badminton and ladder golf. We took the pontoon boat out almost every day and used the poles provided to go fishing.

The entire property is so peaceful and truly captures what a Northwoods experience should be like. The sunrise and sunsets over the clear, beautiful lake were picture perfect and the sounds of the loons completed the experience.

Brian, the owner, has definitely gone above and beyond in making Camp 46 a home away from home for all his guests. Such a gracious host. We have rented many VRBO homes on our vacations and this has been one of the best experiences because Camp 46 provided us with a stress-free and nonstop entertainment retreat. I would highly recommend this cabin for a family vacation and we plan to return again! We'll post some photos soon on the Camp 46 Facebook page.

Thanks, Brian!
