About the property

2 bedrooms w/open kitchen - living -dining room space overlooking lake.

Carver Cottage is only 20 ft from the water's edge and provides the infinity pool effect when sitting in the living room. You feel like you're surrounded by water - it's so close. The sounds of water splashing on the shoreline below lull you to sleep at night and during the day if you so please. Its proximity to the water with its spectacular views makes this unit special.

This fully insulated year round cottage is so beautiful any time of year, you'll want to move to this quiet little oasis year round! Enjoy evening fires on the patio above the waters edge. Breakfast off the living room on the attached patio will be your dining room for the week if the weather cooperates. I can't say enough about the comfort of this house with its breathtaking western Adirondack views. Please call or email for additional photos and description of the property.

Incredible wonderful marvellous view of the lake

  • 4 of 5

The listing was accurate in describing the property. The property was well maintained and the hosts were excellent in providing a couple of missing items and general helpfulness. The location puts you right in nature. The sun sets opposite the living room window over Lake Champlain. I would recommend this property but also mention that being on the water it can get very very windy. It effected my sleeping but not my wife. Additionally there is a slight sulpher smell from the bath water. Didn't concern me but did stop my wife from washing her hair. It's best to plan on eating in at least half the time you stay. The best local restaurant, 'the blue paddle' had varying standards of service when we went there. You can always drive into Burlington (25 mins + parking time). That has a great selection of restaurants but after a day touring you may not want to bother. We love nature and peace and quiet - so for us the view was most important and made our stay enjoyable.

Great lake house!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house! The bay was perfect. Our kids initially said they would not swim in the lake (city folk….) but they loved it. The SUP and kayak were awesome and now my kids love to kayak, something I have been trying to get them to do for a few years but have always got the ‘NO’ from them.

The windows in the house gave a great view of the lake everyday. I have to say that the house is quite larger than it looks in the pictures. The main room (living room/ dinning room/ kitchen) is very big.

I also caught my personal best smallmouth right out back and then topped it with another personal best smallmouth LOL!

Our dogs loved the bay as well- we all had a blast!

The Blue Paddle is a must stop for Dinner. If you like Salmon- GET IT! It's the best I have ever had!

Another pleasant surprise was that even though it was summer vacation, It was very peaceful. No traffic, no crowds of people, just piece and quiet!

A great place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week long stay. House has open concept and was clean and inviting. Beds were comfortable and had plenty of towels. We made our meals (big breakfasts and barbecues) and the kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes and cookware. The beach/ is rocky so beach shoes are a good choice. We enjoyed the fire pit after many gorgeous sunsets! (we had the best weather for end of May). The location was perfect for us as West Shore Road is great to run and walk and with long driveway it felt private. Owners were accessible and very nice to speak to. They left great instructions about the house. I am keeping these owners (Andrew and Deb)in mind for another rental occasion for when my youngest daughter graduates from UVM!

Perfect Get-A-Way!

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at your property. We had a spectacular week, weather wise and the place was perfect for our needs. The kitchen was impressive in size and with how it is stocked with everything you would need to cook. We thoroughly enjoyed that because we are Foodies and love to cook. We thought we would go out a to eat more but we were so settled we just stayed, enjoyed the beautiful view and time as a family. The amenities were fantastic! We all enjoyed the paddle board and kayak (we did bring our own life jackets) although ones were provided. We headed down to the winery and had a tasting and they were great when we were on our morning walks with water out for the dogs. My yellow lab was in heaven with the lake right there, he swam till he was exhausted and enjoyed just lounging on the lawn and patio. The island was great for our morning walks and you were right about the store on the island, what a selection, no need to go anywhere else. We already are thinking about next year. All the our adult kids thought it was perfect!

Great Location, Fabulous Views, Well-Stocked

  • 5 of 5

Location is the key to this small two-bedroom house. It's almost sitting on the top of the lake, so you get spectacular lake views of the Adirondacks across the lake. It's the best view I've ever had while washing the dishes. But it's also only a half hour to Burlington, so it's a quick drive to city culture, restaurants, nightlife, and trendy shopping. There is a winery less than a mile away, and several of the South Hero mini-castles are in walking distance. The house does not have A/C, but it picks up any breeze from the lake. We found the nights comfortable in mid-summer. The lakeshore is a little rocky but great for swimming, and the swim raft was a joy. The house sits protected in a cove, so it's a good spot for bringing your kayaks. The place is incredibly well-stocked. For example, there's a nice first aid kit. The agents have thought carefully about anything you might need.

Fantastic spot!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a week at this property and could've stayed there for a month. It was quiet and peaceful yet close to Burlington. No traffic AT ALL on this island despite the mid summer timing of our stay. The house is open and airy, uncluttered and with windows that take advantage of the AMAZING views. Literally, you are just steps from the water and in a protected cove, perfect for swimming. We bought fresh eggs from the farm just down the road, biked to the Burlington Causeway and just relaxed. Will definitely want to come again.
