Unobstructed views of Possession (Puget) Sound, Olympic Mountains, wildlife

About Don and Sara Christensen
We fell in love with this property from the first moment we pulled onto the Lane in 2011. There is a steep wooded bluff to one side of the Lane and Possession Sound stretching out in beautiful blue to the other side. The sunsets we see here are spectacular in every season. We watch weather systems come and go where we can see 8 miles out into the shipping lane, the south end of Whidbey Island and the lights of Hansville in front, Edmonds to the South and the picturesque Pacific Queen shipwreck to the North. We are halfway between Edmonds and Mukilteo, so at all times 2 or 3 of our beautiful Washington State Ferries can be seen as they take their passengers from the mainland to Whidbey Island or the Peninsula and back. The home is so close to the water we often feel like we live on a cruise ship. The sound of gently lapping waves is something we will never grow tired of, and when it's stormy the white caps and crashes of the waves breaking on the bulkhead reminds us why the name Wind and Tide was given to this area.

Why Don and Sara Christensen chose Harbour Pointe
This is a beautiful new unit with large windows, 9 foot ceilings, 8 foot doors and elegant but comfortable furnishings. The home is a reverse 3 story, which means the main floor is at street level, and the unit we've created as a guest studio is down a long flight of steps, with its own private exterior access on the 3rd floor deck. The neighborhood is part of The Wind and Tide development, and like most waterfront, has a wide range of unique and interesting homes. When you walk the lane you will see cabin style homes that have been here for 100 years as well as new construction and everything unique in between. Although we are waterfront, the water and beach is best accessed via the Picnic Point Park which is 1/2 mile to the south. Railroad tracks and a bulkhead that's challenging to navigate separate our property from the water. Also, see the tides website I've included to check for minus tides while you are here. The seafloor here is extremely level, so there are miles of tidepools to explore when the tide is out, but during high tide the only access is Picnic Point Park.
What makes this Studio unique
Eagles fly past at deck level numerous times a day, and it's common to spy a seal, sea lion or otter as they fish in the shallows. In summer the mother seals leave their pups tucked into the rocks of the bulkhead, but we respect them and give them distance despite their sweet cries. Humpback whales and orcas are sighted year round, and chasing fish in the tide pools during minus tides never gets tiring.

The view is spectacular!!
Everything about this apartment is perfectly described in all reviews!! Spotless! Beautiful! Views! Great location! Sunsets 1 in a million! Trains (not a problem)!! But the steps are a problem if you have any health issues or in our case AGE issues!! But I’d rent it again and just be prepared. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful spot.
Wonderful accommodations. We loved the location we loved the sweet communication was easy with the owners. The place was everything we expected plus more. Beautiful sunsets and listening to the noise of the water was great in the evening. The trains didn’t bother us at all. And from reading previous reviews about the 66 steep steps, that is accurate. I only went up the steps once a day, so I didn’t have an issue. We liked the fact that we were in a very secluded location. Every day I searched online looking for local activities to do and that really paid off we were able to find a concert in a winery, a Edmunds artist studio art tour, and our hosts were gracious enough to recommend restaurants when we needed them. The only reason I hate giving five stars to this rental as there may not be it may be availability next time I want to go back.
Short stay. Fantastic view!
Property is great, clean and fantastic views! Get ready to hike up some steps, which we loved since we hike and bike and love to work out. Great stay.
A great stay
We really enjoyed the view from the well-done unit, which was clean, comfortable and quiet, except for an occasional train going by below, and that was not a big issue. The only difficulty with this is the 66 steps down to the lower level, followed by about 25 steps up to the unit. And, then, of course, the 25 steps down and 66 steps up to depart. Otherwise this is a great place and we highly recommend it.
We loved it!
We loved everything about our stay here. The listing is completely accurate. The unit is well equipped with everything we needed for our ten day stay. Nice updated bathroom with tub, great condition washer and dryer, comfortable bed and linens. The kitchen has a coffeemaker, cooking pans, and dinnerware. It was delightful to sit on the patio right over the water with a great view of the wildlife and boat activity. We even had a close encounter with four bald eagles swooping and calling right in front of us!
We highly recommend staying here, and hope to be back for several weeks next summer, if not sooner.
We are so happy to hear how much you enjoyed your stay-we hope you’ll be back soon!
Enjoy beautfiful sunsets and quiet evenings. Look out over the calm waters of Possession Sound or watch whitewater of the stormy seas when the winds are high. Looking toward the Olympic Mountains, sailboats drift by and speedboats race over the water. This is a beautiful spot to live, and we are so excited to share it with our guests.
