Unobstructed views of Possession (Puget) Sound, Olympic Mountains, wildlife
A day on the Lane: Spend your days relaxing in the sun, lounging in the shade, exploring the beach, watching eagles, ships, tugs go by while you curl up with a book, or take a stroll on our country lane. Less than 30 minutes from Seattle or Bellevue and 10 minutes from Boeing at Paine Field, Everett, we are halfway between Edmonds and Mukilteo, the waterfront at Picnic Point. The Picnic Point Park with public beach has tide pools and is 1/2 mile easy walk. When the tide is out the vast beach stretches out in front where sand dollar beds, crabs, urchins and star fish can be found hiding in the sea grass. If you're here in March and April it's common to see humpback whales going by as they feed, breach and swim between Picnic Point and the southern tip of Whidbey Island. We are minutes from Boeing at Paine Field, the largest building in the USA. Numerous Museums that relate to flight and historic airplanes are very close by.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. THERE ARE MANY STAIRS!
Our home is waterfront and was built on a steep lot. Thus, as the pictures depict, you go down a very long flight of stairs to enter the rental unit and back up those steps when you leave. If stairs are not a problem, you will enjoy unobstructed views and a beautiful setting to rest and relax.
2. THERE ARE NUMEROUS TRAINS, DAILY AND SOMEWHAT LESS AT NIGHT
Waterfront in our area means trains, and our guests will hear (and sometimes feel) trains as they go by. For some, the sound is soothing and relaxing. It's just part of the local charm on the Lane. Earplugs are used by some for sleep, we also provide a fan in the room and guests can turn on Bath and kitchen exhaust for white noise in the room at night. You can also download "White Noise" Apps on your Smart Phone, iPad or other device if you are a light sleeper.
3. QUIET, PRIVATE LANE
Our Lane is a quiet, narrow, country Private roadway and many local residents have lived here 40 years. The nights are extremely quiet, and we ask our guests to honor "quiet volumes" anytime after 9 pm and until 7:30 am.

About Don and Sara Christensen
We fell in love with this property from the first moment we pulled onto the Lane in 2011. There is a steep wooded bluff to one side of the Lane and Possession Sound stretching out in beautiful blue to the other side. The sunsets we see here are spectacular in every season. We watch weather systems come and go where we can see 8 miles out into the shipping lane, we see the lights of Hansville in front, Edmonds to the South and the picturesque Pacific Queen shipwreck to the North. We are halfway between Edmonds and Mukilteo, so at all times 2 or 3 of our beautiful Washington State Ferries can be seen as they take their passengers from the mainland to Whidbey Island or the Peninsula and back. The home is so close to the water we often feel like we live on a cruise ship. The sound of gently lapping waves is something we will never grow tired of, and when it's stormy the white caps and crashes of the waves breaking on the bulkhead reminds us why the name Wind and Tide was given to this area.

Why Don and Sara Christensen chose Harbour Pointe
This is a beautiful new unit with large windows, 9 foot ceilings, 8 foot doors and elegant but comfortable furnishings. The home is a reverse 3 story, which means the main floor is at street level, and the unit we've created as a guest studio is down a long flight of steps, with its own private exterior access on the 3rd floor deck. The neighborhood is part of The Wind and Tide development, and like most waterfront, has a wide range of unique and interesting homes. When you walk the lane you will see cabin style homes that have been here for 100 years as well as new construction and everything unique in between. Although we are waterfront, the water and beach is best accessed via the Picnic Point Park which is 1/2 mile to the south. Railroad tracks and a bulkhead that's challenging to navigate separate our property from the water. Also, see the tides website I've included to check for minus tides while you are here. The seafloor here is extremely level, so there are miles of tidepools to explore when the tide is out, but during high tide the only access is Picnic Point Park.
What makes this Studio unique
We see eagles fly past at deck level numerous times a day, and it's common to spy a seal, sea lion or otter as they fish in the shallows. In summer the mother seals leave their pups tucked into the rocks of the bulkhead, but we respect them and give them distance despite their sweet cries. Humpback whales in spring and orcas are sighted year round, and chasing fish in the tide pools during minus tides never gets tiring.

Beautiful Haven on the water
This was our first time in a VRBO and we were not disappointed! We moved to the area from Maui and wanted to stay somewhere other than a hotel to look for a new home to live in and found this little gem on the water and so happy we did! It was a fabulous place to come back to in the evenings and a great way to start off our new life in Washington! The apartment itself was more than beautiful with everything you could possibly want or need available. Beautiful views, a comfy bed, a well stocked kitchen, a beautiful large bathroom, fast WiFi and overall superb accommodations.
I haven't ever been around trains and I'm a light sleeper which worried me a little, but they never kept me up and I actually slept really well and found the sound of the trains very relaxing and we enjoyed watching them go by!
The stairs...well there are a lot of stairs and the owners are very detailed and upfront about them in the description but I think it just added to the overall appeal of the place.
No complaints here.
Even though the apartment seems very secluded we were within a short drive of restaurants and other amenities, best of both worlds! The owners Sara and Don, are both very gracious hosts and responded to messages quickly. The check in and out process was very easy. I would like to stay here again during the summer to enjoy more of the beach area and will recommend to my visiting friends and family as well!

So glad you enjoyed your stay in The Haven! Welcome to Edmonds, hope you and your friends and family will be back soon!
Great location on the water!
I had a fantastic experience at Don and Sara's Studio. Location was great for me. (working at Paine Field) As well as every amenity needed. Super comfortable bed too. Next time I'm in Everett I will stay here again!
Comfortable Studio with Splendid View
Having never been to the Seattle area, I had great expectations for what I would see and experience while there. This lovely studio apartment did not disappoint, and the view through the picture windows was glorious.
The studio was well-appointed and provided everything I needed for a relaxing stay. Yes, there are frequent trains, but they didn't keep me from sleeping at all.
I think it's important, however, that anyone considering renting this property have clear knowledge about the number and steepness of the stairs leading down from the driveway. There are 66 steps that you will negotiate every time you arrive and depart. Plus another flight of stairs (not so challenging) that you will go up and down, as well. Add to that any luggage, shopping bags, or small children that you may have with you, and only then make your informed decision about staying in the studio.
If heights don't bother you and you're in good physical condition, this studio is a great place to stay.
Overall, I give it a thumbs up!
Thank you Lynda! So glad you enjoyed your stay! Our VRBO Property Description provides very clear and specific notes as well as a photo to describe the stairs used when accessing and leaving The Haven, but in case potential guests miss that detail when booking it's helpful to have the stairs pointed out again here. Not everyone should book a location that has stairs. However, many of our guests have stayed with babies and small children, and they were so glad they didn't let our vivid descriptions dissuade them from booking here. We hope you'll be back soon!
Great view of the water, mountains, and sunsets
The views were pretty spectacular. The environment was quiet except for the trains which ran 4-5 times a day/night. ( you get use it but the first couple do get your attention) Good work out going down & up the steps. The room was clean, set up nicely, & worked well for us. Access to the ferry's & town were short drives. Found several great places to eat. But definitely enjoyed the sunsets from the balcony each evening with a bottle of wine.
Mike, we are so glad you enjoyed the views and gorgeous sunsets. We hope you’ll be back soon!
Beautiful with a bunch of stairs
We absolutely loved it but the stairs...more than I thought and steeper than I anticipated. But well worth it! Loved watching the seals was hoping to see a whale but didn't.
Thank you Jodi, we hope you’ll come back to the Haven soon - and yes, lots of stairs, it’s kind of like having a built in trainer 😅
I enjoyed a weeks stay at the Christensens's beautiful apartment. It is a lovely well appointed large one room apartment with an incredible view across the bay towards Whidbey island. It includes a fully stocked kitchen and washer and dryer in a small utility closet. The Christensens were very upfront about the access to the apartment which requires negotiation of about 90 steps to reach the facility which is towards the base of a steep hill under their own house. There are also railroad tracks nearby which cause a little noise at various times throughout the day and night. After the first night I didn't notice the trains at all. Neither the trains nor the stairs were too much to pay for the wonderful ambiance of the apartment and the surrounding area. The location is much easier to access than I expected and close to groceries and other shopping. I will definitely stay here again when I next visit the Seattle area.
Thank you Michael, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you’ll be back soon!
Enjoy beautfiful sunsets and quiet evenings. Look out over the calm waters of Possession Sound or watch whitewater of the stormy seas when the winds are high. Looking toward the Olympic Mountains, sailboats drift by and speedboats race over the water. This is a beautiful spot to live, and we are so excited to share it with our guests.
