This was our 7th time staying at a Villamare apartment and this apt was disappointing
This apt is managed by Wyndham vacation rentals and is nowhere near up to the standards of the other apts that we have stayed at. One of the showers was updated, the garbage disposal worked, there were plenty of towels and the 3 TVs worked well. That's all the nice things I have to say. The carpet was very used and stained. The furniture was old, very used and stained. The kitchen and bathroom counters need updating as does the whole apt. There was no hairdryer, no bottle opener, no non stick pan to fry eggs and the blender didn't work properly. These are all items that every apt should have and could be found in all the other Villamare apts that we stayed at. We had to go out and buy them. Also the furniture outside on the balcony was extremely rusted and after sitting out there just once it ruined my t-shirt and shorts so that was not an option. The master bed cover was old and needs to be replaced as does the mattress which was very uncomfortable. The whole apt needs some updating and a touch of warmth. It looked old and uninviting. This was also the only apt that didnt have a keyless entry coded lock. Instead we had to use the 2 keys that were given to us. Having 4 people sharing 2 keys presents some problems. My wife wanted to leave the moment we got there except we had already paid for 2 weeks in advance. I hope that for the sake of the next vacationers the owners make some changes and improvements.
Long story short, here's a list of shortcomings:
1. Master bed mattress was awful. Caved in the center and made falling and staying asleep nearly impossible.
2. The kitchen was beyond tiny. Two people could not comfortably be in it together. Thankfully though, I had taken all my own cooking utensils and brought paper plates and cups or that would have been an issue too.
3. The cold and hot water in the second bath area were backwards, even the tub faucet. That was just annoying, especially with children.
4. The couch and loveseat are in bad need of replacement. I felt like we were sitting on Goodwill furniture. On that note, the drawers in the master did not open or shut correctly so we didn't even bother using them.
5. The TV in the master never had a good signal. Could not watch it at all. The TV in the family room was ridiculous as well. I needed two remotes to work it and many channels were not clear enough to watch. This might not have been an issue, but considering I had my elderly parents with me who can't be in the sun all day, well let's just say it was an issue.
6. The shower head in the master bath is awful. It doesn't spray you, instead you get misted. Never felt like I could all the soap out of my hair.
7. Almost half of all the lights in the condo either didn't work or didn't have working light bulbs. Super annoying!
8. And lastly, the washing machine was exactly big enough to wash one beach towel at a time. The dryer was the same. Ridiculous.
I've stayed at other condos in palmetto dunes and way better experiences. I did like Villamare's location and grounds. I loved the indoor pool area. The outdoor pool stayed dirty. I might try Viilamare again, but definitely a different condo.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We appreciate you bringing these items to our attention and truly apologize that we missed the mark to make your stay flawless.
Since your departure, we have replaced all lights, repaired both bathroom issues as well as sent the cable company out to repair any problem with the TV’s. Additionally, as our properties are individually owned, we will be passing along your other comments regarding the furnishings and bedding to the owner so they can consider it in any future plans they may have with enhancing the property.
Your comments are important to us and we hope that we will have the opportunity to provide a much better experience on your next visit to Hilton Head Island.
Great floorpan and location but this unit is lacking
If we go back to Hilton Head, we'd definitely return to Villamare, but not to this unit. We loved the floorpan with divided areas for parents and kids, large bedrooms and plenty of living space including two nice balconies. Villamare is located in the peaceful Palmetto Dunes Plantation, which is just beautiful and conveniently close to Sheltered Cover shopping (for groceries, etc.) and of course access to the beach. Overall our unit was fairly nice, but several thing detracted from making it place we'd return to. First off, there is very little privacy. The French doors to the master suite have sheer curtains over them, which can easily be seen through, especially when lights are on. Unless you lock your kids out of the living area, it basically defeats the purpose of having a private master bedroom. The large sliding glass doors in the living area have a curtain that doesn't even completely cover the door. Sleeping in is difficult because the bedrooms only have thin curtains which let the sunlight shine right through. However, in the master, you probably won't want to sleep in because of the extremely saggy mattress and too-small sheets which keep coming off. If you plan to cook, you'll need to bring your own measuring spoons, and spatula. The kitchen has a hodge-podge of cookware and utensils. The bathrooms desperately need more places to hang towels. Another frustration is we found six or seven remote controls in the unit (for three TVS and a DVD player) but none of them worked with the DVD player.
