Mahalo, Mark. As indicated in our listing, as with most homes on Kauaʻi this one is not air conditioned. We rely on open windows and fans to circulate the breezes. When visiting the tropics in the summer, always verify whether the home is air conditioned if that's what you require.

Aloha Joanne, and mahalo for taking the time to write a review. As you noted, you were aware before booking that the home had no air conditioning. As also noted, very few homes on Kauaʻi have air conditioning. Other homes in different locations and different sizes will be priced differently, and some are much higher priced. Our prices are consistent with competing properties. The home is a condominium, so there will be other occupants nearby. After our maintenance worker visited regarding the screen door, we informed you that the door was a specialty item, and that due to having to order parts from the mainland it could not be fixed during your stay. We have since replaced it. Contrary to your claim, the garage door does indeed function; you told us that you wanted a remote control to operate it, which we declined. You reported the toilet handle after hours and we sent someone to fix it the next day. You did not inform us that the shower had a drip, but we would have repaired that for you. We cannot supply any food items for sanitary reasons in our tropical climate, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. We apologize that you found sand in the home when you arrived. The home had been inspected prior to your arrival and no sand was noted at the time.

Had we been notified, we could have addressed them while you were here. We post our contact information in the home, as well as on all our correspondence, so we are disappointed that you didn't allow us an opportunity to take care of these things during your stay. The technician that we sent found that the coolant was leaking in the wall, which will have to be opened. We are currently not offering AC as an option until we have time to implement the repair.

I’m personally gratified that the check-in procedure and automated reminders were helpful since that’s something I manage. I’m somewhat surprised that you needed the air conditioner during your stay since the weather has been cool, especially at night! It’s very rare to find air conditioning in homes on Kauai since the mild climate and trade winds generally keep the air comfortable. As a courtesy we provide a starter kit of cleaning supplies in all rental units, whether guests stay for three days or three months. As it’s a rental unit, we expect our guests to purchase what they need during their stay, since we can’t anticipate individual usage and product preferences. We will notify the unit’s owner about the low water pressure. There are water conservation rules, but there might be a maintenance issue that needs to be addressed.
