We were 5 guys on a fishing trip and we found the place clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed for cooking a few meals, indoors and outdoors on the grill! The beds were comfortable and everything worked like it should! All around great experience and the on property boat ramp was a welcome bonus!
Our stay at the Cypress and Spanish moss retreat was great. The home was an excellent location for a family retreat of fishing, relaxing, cooking, and fellowshipping. We had no problems and Karen was an excellent host with quick responses to any questions we had. The family had a wonderful time.

Thank you. We try to create a fun and relaxing stay at our long time family home.
Clean home, comfortable beds and nicely stocked kitchen. We had to leave early due to the possibility of flooding, so that was unfortunate and I hope we get the opportunity to finish our trip at a later date
This was our second visit and we enjoyed our stay once again. This home is very peaceful and exactly what we needed to get away for a few days. Made one side trip but stayed onsite for our other full day to soak up the beauty, peace, and quiet.

Glad you had a nice stay. It’s always a treat to watch the sunrise and sunset. And the occasional passing by of porpoise pod or the river otter.
Scenic spot right on the river with trees, Spanish moss, lapping waves, and marvelous sunsets. The living space itself is a no-frills manufactured home in need of re-leveling, but it’s comfortable, spacious, and has all the basics we needed for our 4-night stay. The location cannot be beaten for the price - great value. Private and quiet, and less than an hour drive to the outer banks beaches.
Easy to get to,quiet and peaceful. Spacious property with plenty of shoreline for fishing. House has enough room and is nice. Its not a new home so it has its kinks but nothing that will interfere with your stay. Karen and her family were super nice to deal with and we'll be back in the future.
Such a nice quiet area - the kids had a great time exploring. The house was very well stocked.

About the host
Hosted by Karen York
This is the home place in which I grew up. I attended Columbia High School. This has the small town charm where you know everyone.
Why they chose this property
This is family owned property. I grew up with my brother on the river-fishing, swimming, canoeing, water skiing and boating. I have enjoyed many years on the river with our family and friends and would like to share this experience with other couples and families. There is nothing as enjoyable like watching the sunset over the mouth of the Scuppernong River and the Albemarle Sound every afternoon.
What makes this property unique
Watching the sunset every afternoon sitting one the deck with my family is what made me fall in love with the River House. We have shared many meals with our family and friends outside. Cooking local seafood. And best of all making home made peach ice cream.
