Muy cálida, acogedora y relajante cabaña de 2 dormitorios ubicada dentro del Bosque Nacional Hurón en el cristalino Big Creek, un afluente principal del río Ausable. Encontrará las comodidades básicas desde su hogar. Disfrute viendo la vida salvaje, leyendo un libro y cenando en el porche protegido mientras escucha el río. Su estadía puede incluir muchas actividades al aire libre, tales como: pesca, tubos, kayak, piragüismo, paseos en vehículos todo terreno, fogatas, herraduras y mucho más. The host was very thoughtful and you can really tell they care about their property. We were welcomed by the host and given a detailed list of things to go check out in the area, which was really helpful for us. My husband and I wanted a quiet, relaxing weekend away from our busy lives and here we got exactly that. When you step out of your car you can hear rushing water and immediately feel at peace with the serene landscape that is just outside the windows of this cozy cabin. A bird feeder is re-filled each day and provides endless bird watching entertainment. Pileated woodpeckers and TURKEYS came to have a snack multiple times during our visit! The cabin itself was very comfortable and clean, it had everything you needed and nothing you didn't. We will definitely be back.

We were given a front row view to the first snow of the year in a breathtaking setting. This cabin had everything we needed and was so cozy as we watched snow falling. The birds visiting the feeder throughout the day were so active! We can't wait to go back for a trip this summer!

First off let may say that the host Nick was a really good guy, though we never met I spoke with him multiple times about hunting in the area he was always quick to respond and was a great help. The property is beautiful and the cabin is in excellent condition. I highly recommend. Thanks Nick!

It was a very pleasnet weekend in the peaceful cottage the located on the Luzerne Creek. We had a very good time and hope to go back there next year to catch a trout.

The property owners require you furnish your own linens which was not a problem for us but may be for those visiting from out of the area. There WERE some linens in a closet but we never really looked at or used them, except one blanket we covered our laps with on a chilly day while puzzling on the screened-in porch.The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and other implements (cork screw, shredder, blender), plus pots/pans, dishes, and glasses of all shapes and sizes. We washed most everything before and, of course, after using. They had dish soap, SOS pads, baggies, saran wrap, and kitchen sized trash bags but there were no bags available for the bathroom or bedroom cans. The refrigerator was clean and there was mustard, ketchup, mayo, miracle whip, and ice cubes at the ready.Spices weren't on hand for the most part and there was only a tiny bit of salt left and no black pepper.We spotted and killed about a half-dozen fairly good sized carpenter ants but they really weren't a bother.The sound of the river was divine as was the wooded scenery. The location felt remote but wasn't too far away from restaurants and other conveniences.Lighting, seating, and parking were sufficient. Overall, we had a super nice time and loved the variety of wildlife that visited which included a couple of turkeys, black squirrels, and a great variety of beautiful bird species (thanks to the sweet lady that kept the feeder full).

Perfect cozy getaway!

Green Cabin

This is the third time we stayed at this cabin. We love it!! The owners are great to work with. Cabin is clean and well taken care of. The creek that runs through the back yard is very relaxing to listen to. We had daily visits by many turkeys and a Pileated Woodpecker. We will definitely be back.

Winter Stay-cation

Fantastic little clean and cozy cabin, great for our mini winter stay-cation! Beautiful creek views and lots of wildlife. Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Will come back in the spring to do some fishing.

We cherish this part of Michigan and all that it has to offer.

My Grandparents purchased their property 3 miles north of Luzerne on the Big Creek way back in 1944. They started building their "Red" Cabin in 1965 ( I was 2 years old ).

My wife Laura and I purchased their Cabin in 1997 and have over the years purchased a few others in the area for the purpose of preservation. All of our properties are somewhat connected and private. We live in one that is centrally located to the rest. We do have 1 exception which is a Cabin on the outskirts of Mio.
Mio is 6 miles away and is the County Seat.

- We are located in Oscoda County. We are currently the 6th least populated county in the state, this includes the U.P. Counties.

- We are located within the Huron Nation Forest and the Ausable River Valley.

There are several points of interest in the area.....

- A large Amish Community in the Mio area with many tidy farms and interesting retail stores.

- There is a very large network of ATV and Snowmobile Trails.

- Horse Back Riding
* our area is part of the "Michigan Shore to Shore Trail"

- All Species Fishing, Kayaking/Canoeing/Tubing the Ausable. There are many access points for fishing and many canoe liveries in the area.
