About Reuel & Sara Detweiler
We moved on the family farm in 1965. The Chalet was built in 1976 on the 30 acres of woods on our farm. Reuel and I are now retired, but his last 10 years of employment were spent building log homes in the county and surrounding areas. Sara spent 20 years employed by the AuSable Valley Nursing Home in Fairview. We have 3 sons who helped us with the mowing and cleaning as they were growing up. They now live in Goshen, IN, and Columbus, OH. Over the years, it has been our pleasure to meet many people, from many walks of life. Just this week, one of our renters said they have been coming here since our children were small (30 years). Our cottage has been updated each year and many return to see what is going to be new this year.

Cute cozy and clean!
We really enjoyed our stay at Perfect Tranquility. The cottage was clean and very cozy. The weather was cold and damp so we were able to use the wood burning stove inside since it was too wet for the fire pit. Donnie brought over kindling and matches and that was very helpful!
We walked the trails and the colors were beautiful!
I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway.
So happy you chose our cottage for your fall outing and that you experienced the beauty of the leaves, hopefully at their peak. Your taking time to review your stay is so appreciated! We welcome you back any time!

Bonding at its best
We had a great family time despite the weather. The place was great but it had so much more to offer that unfortunately we couldn’t participate in. Next time!! Thanks again, Kevin
Good for you that you were able to have a great time even if the weather didn’t cooperate! If only we could control the weather, ha!
Please visit us again soon.

Rental of Relaxation and Calm
Mom and I loved our stay. This was our second visit to this beautiful rental. The views are spectacular!! The rental was very clean and very cozy! The beds were super comfortable! The owner and caretakers are a pleasure to communicate with. They responded to my questions and concerns quickly and even came by to start the heater for us and bring by missing supplies. We were able to catch up on some needed rest as well due to the privacy and calm of this property. I highly recommend this property, you will not be disappointed at all. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the daily visits by the small siamese cat. The cat is very beautiful to look at however we personally are not cat people and found the cat to be somewhat of a bother and so did my dog lol while we were sitting outside by the fire pit and while on the deck. The cat was jumping on top of the picnic table and trying to enter the property when we were coming and going. This may not be an issue for most, especially if you like cats. This did NOT ruin our trip by any means, it was just an annoyance but it's not the owners fault. Again, I still highly recommend this property.
Thank you so much for letting us know about your vacation time. It was great to have you back. I will address the stray cat with my caretakers.

This was the perfect getaway for 2 stressed out Mom's who just needed to get away for a few days and relax! The cabin was clean and the location could not have been more perfect! We LOVED the quiet, the lake, the walking trails and the cabin itself is so cozy! We even chatted with the neighbors across the lake for a bit while rowing past on the boat! We will be booking again for next year! Thank you!
Thank you so much for letting us know how you liked your vacation at our cottage. We do so appreciate your taking time to give those details that will help our future clients decide to come to our cottage. So glad it was a quiet, relaxing stay and that you will return!

We live in Amish country. They provide the area with unique places of business including a bulk food store with items you don't find in your grocery store, Pioneer Place (unique hardware), Amish furniture, & Health food store.
Deer, Turkey and other wildife can be seen in the woodland and surrounding area and many species of birds make Lori Lane their home.
Field glasses will make bird watching and hiking the mowed trails more interesting.
Nearby are two golf courses, a Pioneer Museum, The AuSable Valley Railroad, horseback riding and canoeing on the AuSable River.
Groomed snowmobile trails, downhill and cross country skiing, elk viewing and more, are only a short drive away.
In the SPRING, melting snow brings maple syrup, wild flowers, and mushrooms. Spring is also the best time for viewing deer, turkey and migrating birds.
SUMMER is family time for hiking, fishing, swimming or basking in the Michigan sun. There is time for day trips to Mackinaw Island, or Light Houses along the shore.
FALL brings Autumn colors (one of the most
colorful spots is right here in Oscoda County), and campfires or quiet frosty mornings to refresh one's spirits after the nonstop rush of summer.
WINTER snow and frozen lakes bring joy to skiers, snowmobilers, and ice fisherman. The young at heart can enjoy a romp in the snow or a good book by the crackling fireplace.
