Cabin was wonderful . We enjoyed our time there . The men enjoyed fishing . The only let down was there wasn’t any wildlife to watch . We saw two squirrels one day and that was it . Maybe a rare bird sighting once or twice but that was it . I know the wildlife can’t be controlled but it was a bit disappointing not to see anything and very surprising considering all the woods and trails . I would 100 percent recommend staying here .
This cabin is one I return to every year and it books out so fast hard to nab in summer. My husband caught 18 fish yesterday. Very nice owners and groundskeeper.
We had a great time at the cabin, love the layout of the inside and it was very cozy and comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed and the air was a nice touch since it was 100 degrees a couple of the days. Fire pit is in a nice setting and the dock and row boats were used more then any chair lol so peaceful and beautiful. Great place to relax and disconnect. Oh, the trails are really nice too, kept up and such a great activity to explore! Overall, it was nice and clean, cozy, and I love that I can bring my fur babies. They loved it as much as we did.
Such a cozy spot for a winter getaway! Place was warm, kitchen had everything we needed to stay in, and the quiet peaceful views were 10/10!! Would recommend and definitely would love to come back!
Beautiful peaceful getaway. Boring even. End of summer and nothing to do but hike the beautiful property trails or go fish. Only caught small bluegill. Too cool and rainy to enjoy any swimming. Took our pontoon over to Mio dam but no luck fishing. Arrived at Paddle Inn first morning and they were closed. Had to eat breakfast at flea market next door. We were a party of 5 adults. Comfortable living room seating was very limited. Had to use a dining room chair for all to watch TV. My hubby and I were the least disabled so we got the upstairs loft bed. Miserable mattress with a plank of plywood between the mattress and box spring. We brought a dog. Plan on ways to secure your pet when outside, the deck cannot contain a dog and ours had to be next to us at all times. But I added it all up against the price of staying somewhere else and feel we got a good deal. Very beautiful surroundings. Super friendly locals.
Loved the cabin, it was really cozy and relaxing. Plenty of firewood to burn in the fireplace was provided making this winter stay even more cozy. I would definitely book this place again and probably will again the same time next year and possibly during the summer months.
We loved our stay here. Very secluded and quiet. It was so beautiful! Wished we could have stayed longer. We loved the wood burner stove inside, it heated the whole place.
The cabin had everything we needed and nothing we didn’t. We did not spend a lot of time at the cabin but we did return to it in the evenings and it was very comfortable after a day spent hiking.
Beautiful location! Cabin is Excellent! Very Secluded right on the water. TERRIBLE TV @ NIGHT.... My Wife & i have stayed quite a few times & We love it!
Our 2nd year staying in this cabin & family members staying in the A-frame (4th year). We enjoyed the fishing, relaxing at the fire pit. Just simple quiet time well spent .
Beautiful cozy cabin with a private lake and nice paths in the forest. The owner is very attentive to your needs. I would definitely recommend especially if you need some place to relax and rejuvenate.
We had a great time celebrating my boyfriends 30th! Amazing property and location!

The Detweiler's moved on the family farm in 1965. The Chalet was built in 1976 on the 23 acres of woods on the farm. Ruel and Sara Detweiler are now retired. Our family has recently started to manage the property with our main goal being to keep everything like Ruel and Sara managed it. Our family has been coming to the Detweiler's cabins since 1982; hunting, fishing and enjoying nature. We have so many fond memories of our times spent here and we know that many other families have similar cherished memories here. That's what makes this place so special to so many.
Why they chose this property
This is a beautiful place to enjoy all four seasons. In the spring, maple syrup is made from trees on the property, wild flowers, and mushrooms abound in the area. Spring is a good time to view deer, turkey, and migrating birds. Summer is family time for hiking, fishing, swimming, or basking in the Michigan sun. There is time for day trips to Mackinaw Island, or Light Houses along the shore. In the fall, the autumn colors are some of the best in the state. Winter snow and frozen lakes bring joy to skiers, snowmobilers, and ice fisherman. This is also time to enjoy a good book by the crackling fireplace.
What makes this property unique
The Chalet cottage is unique with its fantastic views of the water from the living room and breakfast area. The dishwasher and wood burning fireplace are new to the Chalet this year. The best thing that many enjoy, is the privacy and away- from- it- all feeling that you have when you stay here.
