About the property

2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom with Deck & Garage

Totally renovated in April 2015, Gold Pan Inn is waiting for you!! Our home is wheelchair accessible with no stairs to climb. The comfy living room welcomes you to relax watching TV while the dining room is the perfect place for a couple/family dinner. An open concept allows you to cook in the fully furnished kitchen (dishes, pots & pans, a coffeemaker, and a blender) while the family plays games on the dining room table.

The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed and en-suite bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a full bath directly across the hall. Towels and bedding are all provided…all you need to bring is your clothes, food and personal items.

Our home is situated on Prospect Mountain which gives you a beautiful view of the 1880 Train from the deck while sipping your favorite glass of wine (did we mention there are 4 wineries to visit in Hill City?) A grill is available for your use.

Hill City is centrally located to all the major attractions in the Black Hills. Crazy Horse is only 8 minutes away; Mt. Rushmore is 15 minutes away. Custer State Park beckons with buffalo, elk, pronghorn, prairie dogs, and donkeys. If you are really lucky you will also see the mountain goats and the big horn sheep! You can rent ATV's just outside town or take a trail ride on a great little horse!

And, Hill City itself is a fabulous, quaint little town. You can visit unique shops (The Farmer's Daughter), peruse some of the finest art in the Black Hills (there are 4 art galleries), ride the 1880 Train, or come face-to-face with Stan…the T-Rex! And, of course, the restaurants are amazing!

Also available a couple blocks from our home is the Mickelson Trail where you can ride bikes (rentals available downtown), walk, run, or jog. The Trail is 109 miles through the middle of the Black Hills. Gorgeous!!

So come to the Black Hills…stay with us! You will be glad you did!

Call 605-574-0076 for details and availability!!

About Rick & Lorena Freis

We started vacationing in the Black Hills in 2000 and knew immediately that we wanted to live here at some point! In 2009, we were able to make our dream come true when we purchased this beautiful home, overlooking Hill City, SD. Now, we want to share our home and our love of the Black Hills with those who visit here.

We live in the lower level of our home with our old cat, Rizzo. You may see her wander when hanging out on the deck!

Rick & Lorena Freis purchased this townhome in 2009

Why Rick & Lorena Freis chose Hill City

Originally, this home fit our needs as we were caring for a family member. It allowed us a total separate living space while giving us easy access to the main level if needed. When our family member moved, we decided it was time to bring our home back to the original purpose...a vacation home.

What makes this townhome unique

Hill City is centrally located to all the major attractions in the Black Hills, making it a perfect place to live. When we saw the incredible views of the forest and the 1880 Train, we knew this was the perfect place for us! Now you too, can share in the beauty of our home and our neighborhood!

FALL R&R TRIP

  • 5 of 5

There is a reason this Vacation Rental gets the 5 Star rating...it is worthy. What a great first impression when we opened the door....beautiful house and spotless. The place is tastefully decorated . The location of Hill City is perfect for traveling and day outings to Mt Rushmore, Keystone, Custer State Park, Iron Mountain Road,. There were so many nice touches...muffins, microwave popcorn....travel maps & brochures available. The cabin is within walking to distance to downtown. Another nice feature is the Custer State Park pass that is available for use while at the cabin. Nice savings. Nice kitchen and furnishings. The deck is spacious with 4 stools and bar table and a nice gas grill and overlooks the town Were also treated to some wildlife sightings of deer and turkeys. We have been staying in the Hill City area for a number of years and will make this our "vacation home" in the future. Thanks Rick & Lorena for sharing your cabin so we can feel like we "live" in the hills for a small amount of time.

SD adventures starting in Hill City at the Gold Pan Inn

  • 5 of 5

Rental was very clean, tidy, and well furnished!!! The location was excellent for all the major SD attractions, the view from the deck was very private, but showcased the small, quiet, yet bustling Hill City.

Rick and Lorene are very friendly, yet very professional. This is the real deal here folks and we highly recommend a say at the Gold Pan Inn for your SD adventures!

Lots of TLC!!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home to stay in, very clean, nice space! We enjoyed our stay very much! Nice view from the deck and saw wild life every morning right out our kitchen window or patio door, turkeys and deer!! So fun! Our "hosts" checked on us "just enough" to make sure we were happy and had what we needed. Such a nice little western town is Hill City!! We could see the 1880 train right from our deck which we did ride into Keystone! Highly recommend this house and Hill City!

My only "request" would be a hook on the back of the bathroom door to hang my robe the next time I visit, LOL..........I am sure we will be back! definitely a "5" out of "5"
