Totally renovated in April 2015, Gold Pan Inn is waiting for you!! Our home is wheelchair accessible with no stairs to climb. The comfy living room welcomes you to relax watching TV while the dining room is the perfect place for a couple/family dinner. An open concept allows you to cook in the fully furnished kitchen (dishes, pots & pans, a coffeemaker, and a blender) while the family plays games on the dining room table.

The master bedroom boasts a king-size bed and en-suite bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a full bath directly across the hall. Towels and bedding are all provided…all you need to bring is your clothes, food and personal items.

Our home is situated on Prospect Mountain which gives you a beautiful view of the 1880 Train from the deck while sipping your favorite glass of wine (did we mention there are 4 wineries to visit in Hill City?) A grill is available for your use.

Hill City is centrally located to all the major attractions in the Black Hills. Crazy Horse is only 8 minutes away; Mt. Rushmore is 15 minutes away. Custer State Park beckons with buffalo, elk, pronghorn, prairie dogs, and donkeys. If you are really lucky you will also see the mountain goats and the big horn sheep! You can rent ATV's just outside town or take a trail ride on a great little horse!

And, Hill City itself is a fabulous, quaint little town. You can visit unique shops (The Farmer's Daughter), peruse some of the finest art in the Black Hills (there are 4 art galleries), ride the 1880 Train, or come face-to-face with Stan…the T-Rex! And, of course, the restaurants are amazing!

Also available a couple blocks from our home is the Mickelson Trail where you can ride bikes (rentals available downtown), walk, run, or jog. The Trail is 109 miles through the middle of the Black Hills. Gorgeous!!

So come to the Black Hills…stay with us! You will be glad you did!

About Rick & Lorena Freis

We started vacationing in the Black Hills in 2000 and knew immediately that we wanted to live here at some point! In 2009, we were able to make our dream come true when we purchased this beautiful home, overlooking Hill City, SD. Now, we want to share our home and our love of the Black Hills with those who visit here.

We live in the lower level of our home with our two old cats, Rizzo & Sherman. You may see them wander when hanging out on the deck!

Originally, this home fit our needs as we were caring for a family member. It allowed us a total separate living space while giving us easy access to the main level if needed. When our family member moved, we decided it was time to bring our home back to the original purpose...a vacation home.

Our stay was nothing short of amazing. It was cozy, clean, centrally located to many of the places you'll want to see. They also provided little extras like coffee and snacks which was so nice. Rick and Lorena are so kind. You will not regret staying here!

Super clean and beautiful!!

One thing I can guarantee about this property is that you will not find a cleaner one. This place would have literally passed the white glove test. Beautiful! Equipped and furnished as if the owners planned on living there. Thanks to Rick and Lorena for such an amazing place!

Beyond our expectations... can't wait to return!

This house was perfect for our trip. Lorena has quite a gem of a place here. We could not have asked for anything more. Everything was clean and like new.. and the open floor plan is absolutely wonderful in the kitchen, living room and dining area. We enjoyed breakfast there each morning before heading out to visit the sites. It had everything you would need to cook any type of meal.. and more dishes than I have at my own house. :-) There were only two of us staying so we had more than enough room.. but this would be a wonderful place for two couples to stay or a family of four. We did get to enjoy the deck area and a pretty neat view overlooking Hill City. I loved that it was literally in Hill City.. but still had some separation from the tourism to maintain some privacy. However just a short 5 minute walk.. or 1 minute drive is the wonderful little downtown area of Hill City. After traveling around the area for 3 days.. this town was my favorite.. and I was so thankful that we chose to stay there. With recommendations from everyone.. we enjoyed Alpine Inn. (probably less than a mile away from house) Everything I read online... was completely accurate. Only two food choices.. but at $12 for a filet.. who can complain.. and the most amazing desserts! The desserts are the highlight. We also enjoyed the local winery in town. I would recommend checking this out as well. Again.. the house was great.. and the location was perfect.. fun town and centrally located to all the recommended sites of the Black Hills. Check this one out.. you won't be disappointed.

Lovely, clean, comfortable home in the epicenter of all major attractions.

A home away from home. You cannot tell from the photos but meticulously decorated. Fluffy towels, comfortable beds, wild turkeys and deer to greet you in the morning.

Very nice Home and Great Location

The home was very nicely decorated and maintained. It was equipped with everything we needed for cooking breakfast to grilling burgers at night. The attention to detail by the owners made our stay exceptional. We would come back in a heart beat!

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home. It was spotless, very tastefully decorated, and centrally located to all area attractions. The owners are very kind, helpful, and easy to work with. Hill City is a beautiful town and it was so nice to have such a perfect home during our stay there..
