Really well presented and located property, exactly like the pictures. Owners very friendly and helpful; would highly recommend both a stay in Carmel and in particular, this property.

There are not enough good words in the English language to describe this wonderful, and most beautiful of hideaways in the heart of Carmel. From the moment you arrive you are embraced by the love and warmth that Barry has designed and poured into this charming home… it is perfectly conceived with everything you could need and more. There are so many extra little touches (I won’t spoil the surprises), that make you feel cherished and appreciated as guests and make your stay that extra special. Barry wants your stay to be amazing, and you can feel that from the moment you arrive. I have never felt like this anywhere I have stayed before. The location of the house is just a wow factor! A few minutes walk into the heart of Carmel and to all the fabulous restaurants and shops and down to my favourite - the wonderful bay. We have stayed in many places in Carmel, but this is our favourite without a doubt. We will absolutely return to stay here, it was more than we had hoped for and Barry was the best host we have ever stayed with through our years of travel.

Great location between two beaches on a quiet road the house has real soul and is easy to live in

The cottage is exactly as it appears on the website and is perfect for two people. A short Uber ride and you’re at the beach or on the Main Street. There were a few oversights from the manager that we’re surprising and disappointing, particularly given how much he charges per night: 1. Check in was an unecessary mess. We arrived at the prearranged time to find the place locked up and we could not get hold of Bill for 30 minutes. When we did finally get hold of him it was clear that getting us in was not his priority because he was dealing with a problem in another property. It took a further 15-20 minutes of standing outside the front door for him to give us the entry code for the property. This all could have been avoided so easily if he has just given us the entry code up front. 2. A gas BBQ is provided. We were half way through cooking on our fist night and then the gas ran out. The house instructions send you looking for the spare, but it turns out there was no spare. We then had to finish cooking on the stove in the kitchen ... Again, something that could so easily have been avoided had the manager checked things properly. 3. Overall the standard of cleaning fell below what we would have expected. There was a mention of having a lower cleaning fee means that the guests are expected to do some cleaning themselves, but we were not told of this when we booked and given the high nightly cost plus the cleaning fee (which is not low for such a small cottage) we would have expected better. As an example, we had to clean some of the fridge before we could use it. A deep clean of the entire place is probably needed. 4. We had arranged use of the sofa bed and enquired as to where the bedding was. The manager forgot we had prearranged this and left us a voicemail about not having prearranged this, that there would b extra fees that we needed to discuss etc. Once again, something that was overlooked and not taken care of properly. Overall, it is a lovely cottage in a great location. We just felt that the manager let a few of the basics slip with our rental.
