Your villa is perfectly situated on the 15th Fairway of the Beach Golf Course in the Waikoloa Colony Golf Course Villas, which is a Private, Gated community of townhomes on the South Kohala Coast within the world-renowned Waikoloa Beach Resort. The Waikoloa Beach Resort is just 20 minutes north of the Kona Airport and is also home to the oceanfront Hilton Waikoloa and Waikoloa Marriott Resorts. The Waikoloa Beach Resort is not to be confused with Waikoloa Village, which is about ten minutes inland.
Your villa provides 2 Bedrooms and 2 Baths, totaling over 1200 square feet plus 2 Lanais, as well as a 1-car attached Garage. It is perfect for Families or Couples vacationing together. The well-appointed kitchen has beautiful maple cabinetry and Granite countertops. Upon availability, Camp Menehune at the Hilton is available to non-Hilton guests and offers activities for children five and older so you can have a day to yourself to plan an adventure or just relax. Take advantage of the resort Spa's located at the Hilton and Marriott. Also less than a mile away, the perfect crescent shaped white sand beach at Anaehoomalu Bay offers Snorkeling, Windsurfing, and Kayaking, Sunset and Whale watching tours, or you can simply relax under the shade of a palm tree and watch the catamarans sail by. Waikoloa Beach Resort has all the desires of a resort community without being overrun with traffic like Kona. It has world class golf, fantastic beaches, shopping, catamaran rides, sunsets and anything else you could ask for in a Hawaiian vacation. A-bay has beautiful sunsets, catamaran rides, and perfect palm trees to read a book under.
Happy hour on the lanai watching the sun set over the 15th fairway and the palm trees beyond. The kids love the pool, and my wife loves the shopping and restaurants.
The villa was absolutely perfect for us. It was clean and well stocked and in a perfect location.
It was so nice to come back to the Big Island. We were all very upset when it was time to leave.
There is nothing that I can think of that you need to improve about the Villa.
This was my family's first trip to be Big Island and our first time renting a condo and using VRBO. We had a wonderful time and loved how the condo provided such ease of use for everything. It was so convenient to load the car with the provided beach gear (chairs, toys, boogie boards, ice chests) and head to the beach. We also used the provided bikes to ride over to the nearby shopping areas.
We also found the location convenient for driving to other areas of the Island. We were there 8 nights and spent quite a bit of time finding adventure across the Island. Snorkeling, surfing, golf, helicopter rides, volcanoes, cliff jumping, sea turtles, mongooses, and fresh fruit markets were all a short and un-crowded drive away. We also found a free luau type show they perform every Monday evening at The Shops of Mauna Lani which is only a short 5 minute drive.
My wife and I were able to enjoy the entire top floor while our two teenage sons were very content with the first floor. We really enjoyed opening the patio doors to listen to the birds early in the morning and found everything peaceful and relaxing.
We were quite pleased with the property. It provided excellent accommodations for a family of 4 and made our vacation to the Big Island more comfortable and fun. The condo is well stocked with kitchenware, a nice refrigerator, microwave, washer/dryer and other amenities for enjoying the island. We loved having access to the boogie boards, coolers and beach chairs, which we used often. And we were happy we did not have to pack beach towels. The garage is perfect for parking one car. Both bathrooms are spacious and clean. Upon arrival, we found the condo to be immaculate and in good condition (no odors you sometimes experience in hotels). This was our first experience with renting through HomeAway and we were a bit nervous. One thing to note, is that you should expect to get check in information about 48 hours before your arrival. Overall, we were very pleased with this property.
The condo worked really well for us (2 adults, 2 kids). It was clean, the linens were fresh and clean, and the kitchen was updated, well stocked and very functional. We ate all breakfasts, most lunches, and several dinners in the condo without problems. The pool is great and really close (but not so close you can hear kids playing). We used the gas grill twice (there are several located around the complex - we used the one by the pool). We really liked that our kids were downstairs in their room and we had the entire upstairs area to ourselves. The garage is very narrow - our full sized car just barely fit and it was a bit of a challenge for the driver to get out. I don't think an SUV or mini van would fit...but the owners give you a parking pass to park in a reserved spot just steps away from the front door.
Previous reviewers talked about the condo being a little old and outdated and we found that true. It could use a fresh coat of paint, new baseboards (really bad in the bathrooms), new carpet, etc.. But although the furnishings were a little 'tired', it was clean and neat. We did unfortunately find two cockroaches in the garage (not bothersome as they just crawled in from outside) and one on the kitchen counter (this was more disturbing) when we came home late one night. I know that cockroaches and tropics go hand-in-hand but it does seem like the owners may want to increase the pesticide spraying or plug up some holes/entry points.
I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of: needed updating/painting and the cockroach issue. Overall though I think it's a good place to stay, a good value, and we would stay there again.
We stayed in this unit for two weeks. The condo community is nice, and the location of this unit was good. There were some issues upon arrival that were taken care of immediately. We appreciated that the owner got back to us right away and took care of our concerns. Although the unit is comfortable, it is in need of some TLC. The carpet is stained and worn. The floorboards are falling apart in the bathrooms especially. It could use a good coat of paint. We had guests both weeks, and new sheets and a mattress cover were needed. We cooked quite a bit so used the pots and pans regularly. They were plentiful as well as the cooking utensils. However, there was absolutely nothing in the unit as far as seasonings (salt/pepper) or even starter coffee filters. Overall, this would be a great unit given some upkeep and repair. We will be looking for another unit in this area next time.
We didn't receive information on check in until 2 days before arrival....phone calls and emails were unanswered. upon arrival there were a few issues: cockroaches, plugged sink, non working front room light and fan, some uncleanliness, very sparse amenities...phone calls - no answer and voice messages never returned.
We had a grate time!!! This property is very nice and very clean, owners are grate to communicate with they always will respond to you very fast and that is very important. Rental is located very close to the first pool and very short walk to the second one. Well equipped kitchen for any family traveling and planning to cook there own meals. Location of this property is very central to walk to any store and beach or Hilton Property. We had a grate time renting this place and I strongly recommend this property for any occasion to stay and relax at Big Island. We will definitely come back here and relax soon!!!!
