We have a blended family so our adult kids saw some family members for the first time in years and it was a blast. The house was perfect for our wide reage of ages we had.
Our family group of 9 had a very pleasant stay - property was larger than it looked and accommodated all our needs. Close to the general store and the Ole Swimming Hole/Lowell Johnson Park where family enjoyed volleyball and swimming.
The location is perfect. Close to store and parks on quiet road. The downstairs and outside areas are nice with lots of space. The beds are very uncomfortable and loud. I emailed about this months ago as I had read in the comments and was told the issue was fixed but it isn’t.

Hi Hilary, we're glad to hear that you enjoyed the location and the spaciousness of the downstairs and outdoor areas. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:-While we try to accommodate all guests' comfort, mattress taste is subjective, we're sorry the mattresses didn't meet your preferences. The bed frames are solid, secure, and made of metal. They were inspected in July to ensure everything was in good condition. For guests who prefer different sleeping arrangements, there are additional foam mattress pads under the king bed downstairs, along with trundle beds and other sleeping options available. The mattresses are medium-firm and come with 2-inch memory foam/cooling toppers on the king beds, which can be removed if a firmer surface is preferred. The bunk bed arrangements are clearly shown in the listing photos to provide transparency about what to expect.-We would like to clarify that, in our email correspondence from January regarding the bunk beds, it was not communicated that the "issue" had been resolved. Instead, we informed you that additional sleeping arrangements were available, including extra beds, thick sleeping pads, and three comfortable sofas, should the bunk beds not meet your needs. We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
This house was PERFECT! We had 7 adults and 6 children to celebrate my father's birthday. It was exactly like the photos show. Kitchen was well stocked. The grill had an extra propane tank, which was very considerate. There were lots of blankets and towels. Honestly, all the accommodations of this vacation house were very thought out and VERY well done. It's a great place to make memories.
Our family, including two teens, enjoyed ping pong and the hot tub. Kitchen was equipped and easy to work in. All rooms were very clean.
Is there any way the squeaky bunk beds can be fixed? That was the only issue in an otherwise comfortable stay.

Bacteria in Hot tub
Overall we had a comfortable stay at this place. But don't at all use hot tub here, as it has bacteria that can grow in hot tub. My wife got hot tub folliculitis by using the bath tub at this place. Its almost 10 days since we came back from this place, my wife still has very bad symptoms across all her legs.

- Thank you for your feedback. I'm truly sorry to hear about your wife's experience with folliculitis. That sounds terrible, and I understand your concern.
- I want to assure you that we take the maintenance and cleanliness of our hot tub very seriously. Our team meticulously cleans, sanitizes, balances, and flushes the hot tub to ensure it is safe for use. As a precaution, we provide a basket of chemicals, including shock treatments and test strips. We encourage guests to use these test strips and to notify us immediately if anything seems off.
- There is always a service professional available to address any issues promptly. We have never neglected our maintenance responsibilities and are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our guests.
- If you have any concerns before or during your stay, please reach out to us. We have all the necessary supplies on hand, and our repair team is ready to assist at a moment's notice. Your safety is our top priority, and we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
Pros: location was great, quiet neighborhood, lots of rooms, lots of amenities, affordable, clean, spacious. We would stay there again
Cons: bunk beds were very squeaky, hot tub was not cleaned, trampoline was filthy, kind of frustrating to have to clean at checkout so much while PAYING a lot of money for a cleaning fee. We don’t mind cleaning but when you start to feel like you’re doing what the cleaning company would be doing….
All in all, the house was good and we’d stay there again!

Hi Trish, we're glad you enjoyed your stay! We followed up with the owner after reading your feedback and they wanted to share the following:
- We'll be sure to inspect the bunk beds to see what we can do to resolve the issue. We're sorry if this negatively impacted your stay.
- As is standard for vacation rentals, guests are asked to complete a few small tasks, like removing their own trash, as part of checkout. The cleaning fee goes to a professional service that sanitizes and prepares the home for each new guest. Your feedback will be shared with our cleaning partner to ensure the home is properly prepared for guests.
We're glad you were able to enjoy the home despite any concerns.
Thanks for your valuable feedback as we continue to improve!

Great get away
The home was great, a lot of amenities were provided. We spent majority of our time downstairs in the gaming area. With lots of board games. Hot tub was amazing and felt very private. They offered EV charging which was also another great amenity. Many bedrooms for guests. They had a lot of things for kids- coloring, legos, as well as plates & silverware. Most of the things we needed were available for use. We weren’t able to use the fire pit or bar area due to rain but there’s lots of space! Very peaceful & quiet area. The hosts were very accommodating & responsive. Thank you for letting us stay here, definitely will be coming back!
The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. The backyard was a lot of fun with the fire pits and hot tub. We had fun playing disc golf at the park behind the house. We left some discs since this was one item the house didn’t have that way the next group could play. The house was stocked with everything, games, outside games, sand toys, floaties, life jackets, it was very thoughtful.
The layout made the house quiet and gave us several places to hang out. The dinning room is small, but the bar made it enough space for us.
Thank you for the great stay! We really enjoyed Anderson Island. The museum was amazing, we are so glad we called and got a private tour during the week, very worth it!
This is our second year back at this house! My sister’s family and mine like to vacation together and last year we were just looking for a low-key vacation by water with amenities for kids and we sure found it!The property owner is the best we’ve ever had, she’s so responsive and quick to help fix any problems or answer questions. The kitchen is pretty stocked for large groups. Big pots, pans, utensils and tools, a crockpot, blender, coffee maker, lots of large serving bowls and even a picnic basket! There are plenty of DVDs available for use and fishing poles. The fishing poles inspired all of the kids and teens and even a few adults to pick up fishing. There’s a pond for 14 and under to fish in a stones throw from the property. The hottub is clean. They added some kids kayaks since our last stay at that was a great addition! There’s a cool kids adventure course between the trees in the backyard. We love this house, we’ll be back!
The house is perfect for a large family with lots of kids! Toys galore, including ping pong, outdoor trampoline, swings and , climbing course in the backyard. The fire pit is a crowd pleaser along with the hot tub. The nearby disc golf course was a lot of fun. The host responded immediately to questions about the property. Very welcoming experience.
We really enjoyed our vacation.
The house is fully equipped. We enjoyed cooking and relaxing on the outdoor big deck.
The kids had a blast at the outdoor playground.
Best pnace for family relating weekend.
The house was perfect, with plenty of rooms and beds for everyone, and lots of great large gathering spots indoors and outdoors for the whole family. We enjoyed the frisbee golf course behind the house. Kids were also pleased with the plentiful games and activities, especially the outdoor obstacle course and trampoline.

Perfect for a forested outdoorsy island getaway
We loved this home for our family reunion of 9 teens and adults. Plenty of room to spread out. Stocked kitchen essentials. CLEAN. Nearly secluded. SAFE. Easy to get to.
Lovely communications with host.
It isn't a resort. It is a house on an island where every single item has to come by ferry. So don't expect perfection. Expect a lovely, quiet, clean home.
Janky metal bed frames were SUPER noisy (someone rolling over can be heard from another room) but we just pulled the mattresses onto the ground and made it work. Plenty of clean extra pillows and blankets.
The island was so much fun. The two lakes are beautiful. Don't miss the hike to Andy's Marine Park -- a sea of san dollars. My 75 year old mom struggled on the way back but agrees it was worth it!
We fished everywhere but only caught in the motor-sport friendly lake at the most populated spot (the Old Swimming Hole) late in the evening off of the floating island. Who knew?
The house itself was wonderful - the large number of beds, fully stocked kitchen, bikes, games, swim toys, electronic games were all wonderful. My biggest issue is that we picked the house not for any of what I listed above but 100% because it had a hot tub. When we arrived my teen ran to the hot tub first and it was SO COLD. I texted the owner to find out that the cleaning staff emptied and refilled the water and it would heat 2 degrees every hour. Which meant for our two night stay - we would only have access to the hot tub for half of our visit. Disappointing.
Secondly, with children the big draw of Anderson Island is the popular swimming hole. Being an outdoor attraction and that Anderson Island is phase 2, I felt confident we could social distance and enjoy some water activities. I was wrong. The swimming hole is closed to the public. There should be notification to renters that this attraction is not open. I was shocked an outdoor location was closed. We spent day 2 looking for other swimming options. I would have appreciated an update of Covid notices on the listing or even the Anderson Island website. Not the owners fault, but it did damper our planned activities.
The last issue was check out day. The check out time was early at 10:00am - a hard time to check out with teens, but I figured with COVID, extra cleaning time was bolted on and figured we could work with it. I received multiple text messages reminding me to leave by 10 and a request to text as soon as we left so they could bring in the cleaning crew. It dampened my trip to have multiple messages asking me to leave starting the day before we left. When we departed at 10am, the cleaning crew was in the driveway watching us. I've never had that experience before in all my VBRO rentals and it didn't feel great. Once we left, we went to find breakfast because I was barely able to wake the teen before we had to be out of the house and there was literally no where on the island to eat. The restaurant on the lake wasn't open until 3:00pm and the little place by the grocery store had blocked off all their tables so food was only to go-but we literally had no where to go and eat. So we decided to go to the ferry but the next ferry didn't come until nearly 11:30 -- I feel like check out from the house should more closely correlate with the ferry schedule or else you are like we were, hungry, needing a bathroom and with no where to go but a long wait in our car in a parking lot.

Hi Nicole, We were sorry to hear that the island's amenities fell short of your expectations:
- As you mention, whether or not local attractions and restaurants are open is completely outside of the control of the homeowner
- The checkout time is also standard for vacation rentals so that the cleaning crew has time to prepare the property for the next guests
- The owner apologizes for the delay while the hot tub heated up, but with back-to-back bookings, it needed to be cleaned for you to be able to enjoy it during your stay
We can't predict how Covid-19 will impact public attractions and restaurants, but we're confident that it won't prevent upcoming guests from enjoying everything that this vacation home has to offer!
We spent 4 days in the home on Anderson Island. The house was stocked with games, toys, towels etc. and had everything we needed, including things like spices, paper towels, tin foil, shampoo, hair dryers, etc. The location was great. The kids could ride their bikes to the General Store, or walk to the fishing pond through the back yard. We would definitely come back to this property.
This home was very well thought out and had everything that my extended family needed to feel comfortable and entertained. It was absolutely the perfect getaway after some long, hard and stressful months. The property manger (and management) responded with lightening speed and was so quick to help as needed. I highly recommend a trip to this island and a stay in this home - so wonderful.
Usually we go to the ocean over the 4th but decided to do a lake this time. So glad we did. The house was great. So much to do for all ages. I highly recommend it!
We had a great time here and would definitely recommend it. The house was decorated very cute. There was lots to do including games, foosball, books, a hot tub, bikes, and frisbee golf (bring discs). Communication with Jesse was quick, easy and professional. He was flexible with our check in and check out time. 5/5 for sure!
