Cute ONE or TWO bedroom house.
This is an adorable ONE or TWO bedroom house with high vaulted ceilings and shiny wood floors. The house is a half block off Hana Highway, 0.9 miles from Paia town, and within a mile of all North Shore Beaches.
(For ONE night stay requests, please see our REQUIREMENTS listed below.)
When booked as a ONE BEDROOM house, we close off the 2nd bedroom. There is a queen size bed in the first bedroom and a full size futon/couch in the living room for additional sleeping space. It comfortably sleeps 1 adult or 2 small children. As a ONE bedroom (690 sq. ft.), the maximum occupancy is 4 guests. Each additional person, over double occupancy, pays $20/night. We make up the futon for sleeping and provide additional towels and linens.
When booked as a TWO BEDROOM house (900 sq. ft.), the second bedroom is opened up so that you have 2 full bedrooms with 2 queen size beds plus the full size futon/couch in the living room for additional sleeping space for 1 adult or 2 small children. This combination is great for 2 or more ladies traveling together, families or friends. As a TWO bedroom house, the maximum occupancy is 6 people. We add $50/night for the additional bedroom and $20/per person, per night when there is a 5th or 6th person. The cleaning fee for the TWO bedroom option is $75.
When making a request, PLEASE SPECIFY if you would like to book ONE bedroom or TWO bedrooms and the total number of guests so that we may price your "quote" accordingly.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: When the second bedroom is not rented, the door is dead bolted from both sides. Occasionally, we will allow visiting family or close friends to stay in the room, when it is not booked. The room has it's own separate entrance and you will not see the person(s) staying in it. For many years, the room was a studio apartment, long term rental. If you have any concerns, please ask for clarification BEFORE booking.
The house is equipped with cable, wi-fi, DVD player and a full kitchen that has everything you need to feel right at home. There is an outdoor grill with a bistro set out front and another bistro set on the back porch where you can enjoy an afternoon mai tai or for dining al fresco. This house is great for a kite surf vacation, surf vacation, family vacation or for people who want to be away from the big resorts and feel like you are living in a real Maui neighborhood for a while.
PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING A ONE NIGHT STAY REQUEST:
We normally do NOT accept a one night stay request. For guests requesting a ONE NIGHT STAY please make sure that your request meets the following criteria:

If your reservation is for a week or more, we, sometimes, offer a 10% discount off your stay except during the Christmas holiday and New Year's. Comfortable airy getaway
We had a great stay at this wonderful rental. It was our first trip with our 19 mo. old and it was perfect. Plenty of space and beach toys. While there is a beach and store/deli just a 5 minute walk away, it's not doable with a toddler so we mostly drove to town and "Baby Beach." If you have a little one this is the PERFECT BEACH.
Quiet and nice
We stayed here after getting in late from a flight and opened it to find a nice little place! Adequate space, super quiet and nice to have a kitchen. We did the road to Hana the following day and it was great not to have to drive all the way to Kihei, our next destination. For those of you considering doing so it is definitely possible but nice to stay a bit closer. We also were able to stop home for a rest then go to mamas fish house for dinner - super yummy and beautiful views but expensive. It was fun to be able to visit some of the north shore beaches and watch the big waves and wind surfers too. The house is outdated and the bed is hard but we still enjoyed our time here for the aforementioned reasons. Overall I would recommend this spot but do think it is overpriced compared to what we got in Wailea/Kihei area.
Very well managed lovely, cozy house perfectly situated at the start of the Hana Highway
We very much enjoyed our stay. The only reasons for not rating at 5 stars are the relatively uncomfortable couch, and that as hikers/walkers we couldn’t go anywhere without having to walk on the very narrow highway shoulders
Nice house, nice people.
Nice little house, well cared for.
The only thing we missed was a couch. As we were using the futon for our third guest’s bed, we only had the kitchen table to sit at while lounging inside at home. This was no real biggie since mostly we were out doing stuff we did miss it.
Not much of a view but 1/4 mike from a local beach and leads than a mile from town.
Paia town outskirts could use some more sidewalks or at least a wider shoulder to walk into town from the north along the Hana Hwy.
Enjoyed our stay.
Lovely little abode!
Just what we needed and Sabrina was lovely!
Would definitely stay here again! It was perfect.
Cute place, high ceilings, super helpful management and friendly neighbors. Perfect location for what I was looking for. I love the Kuau neighborhood. Definitely coming back!!
Location
From Foddor's-"Best American Small Towns", June 2014 issue: PAIA, HAWAII Population: 2,668 It can be difficult to find remnants of authentic Hawaii behind the multitude of resorts, but this is one of the last holdouts. Located on Maui's northern coast just off Highway 36, Paia was founded as a sugarcane enclave and though the sugar mill closed in 2000, the town is as alive as ever. Boutiques featuring everything from high-end fashion to beachwear line the streets, and with some of the world's best windsurfing spots in the area, you're sure to find an opportunity to put your new gear to good use. Because it sits along the route to Hana, the town is pleasantly devoid of major resorts and offers a great stopping-off place for a few hours or a few days.

Additional information about rental rates
Full disclosure: Nightly rate in the ONE bedroom option is based on double occupancy. A $20/per person, per night fee will be added for additional guests up to 4 people. The rate in the TWO bedroom option is for up to 4 people. Guests #5 and #6, over 12 years of age, pay $20/night. Our reservation policy is "Strict". You receive a full refund up to 60 days before your arrival. If you cancel within the 60 days, deposits are non-refundable unless we can rebook the house. We will accept a ONE NIGHT STAY, far in advance, IF it butts up to another reservation or if it fills in an open night between two existing reservations. We will, also, accept a one night stay if it is closer to the date and we feel that the house will sit empty. We cannot accept a one night stay if it falls in the middle of an open block of nights on our availability calendar. Thanks for understanding. If you are making a CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY request and any part of it falls between December 22, 2016 and January 2, 2017, there is a 7 night minimum stay requirement UNLESS we are filling in gaps between reservations. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Our houses are in a tropical environment, near sugar cane fields, where permanent, Maui residents live. If this is your first time visiting Hawaii, please know that insects and geckos may find their way into the house. They are a part of island living and we have learned to coexist with them, especially since they are not dangerous and are much more afraid of us than we should be of them. We strive to keep our houses very clean but this does not mean that the houses will be insect free. Like other rentals in this neighborhood and unlike the huge resorts, time share properties and hotels in the tourist areas that get heavy doses of pesticides, have closed windows with central air conditioning, we use limited amounts of minimum impact, natural insecticides. The Green Turtle House doesn't NOT have central air conditioning.
