House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)
We started with an historic Crested Butte home that had great character but needed a first class updating. We have just finished a complete remodel and think local photographer Chris Ladoulis' photos speak for themselves.
Trilby and Z. welcome you to 207 Sopris Avenue in the heart of the historic district of Crested Butte. Drop me an e-mail, and I'll send you a complete portfolio of images of the house, our wildflower gardens, and fenced, irrigated yard.

Description of Our House
Our newly remodeled house, built in the early 1900's, embodies the Crested Butte experience. Perfectly located in the heart of the historic district, this three bedroom, three bath home is a half block from the shuttle bus stop to the ski area. No need for a car.
With its prime location, this stucco home with its recently refinished hardwood floors is the ideal vacation home. Its open floor plan and warm, lively feel make for good times with family and friends. The large dining room flows into the sunlit living area, which has a new fireplace, leather sofa and chair. The three bedrooms have quality mattresses: the master with a Sleep Number and the other two with new, firm Simmon's mattresses and new linens. All three tiled bathrooms are new and come with thick, lush towels.
We have a master bedroom suite upstairs with a new king-size bed, reclaimed oak hardwood floors, and a Santa Fe style gas fireplace. To stay in touch with work, we have an office area with a Henry Miller desk chair, a hand-crafted, built-in desk with curved countertop, wireless high-speed internet access, and a printer for your laptop. Add a breathtaking view of Gothic Mountain from the desk, and a little work is not so bad. The spacious tile bathroom features a two person Kohler jetted tub and a large steam shower big enough for two. The heated travertine tile floor warms your feet on cold mornings.
Downstairs, we have two more bedrooms and two more bathrooms. The larger of the two bedrooms has a new queen sized bed and the smaller bedroom has two new, twin beds. Both of the downstairs bathrooms are new. One is travertine marble and has a spa tub while the smaller bathroom has a shower.
The dining room table easily seats eight adults. The vaulted ceiling living room has a new, kiva gas fireplace, and a leather sofa and chair. A large bay window opens to the front yard and wildflower beds.
The newly remodeled kitchen includes a new Bosch stainless dishwasher, a GE Monogram refrigerator, a curved, concrete countertop, an Italian gas cooktop, and new Tech lighting. We have Cuisinart appliances to include a coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, and an ice cream maker. The kitchen is fully equipped for gourmet cooking.
The large, separate laundry room has a heavy-duty washer, a large capacity dryer, and a rack for air-drying fine clothes.
Our large entry room has a ski rack, plenty of hooks for jackets, and a ski boot warmer.
In the summer, enjoy the large, fenced backyard featuring two wildflower beds, aspen trees, and an irrigated lawn. Relax in a large hammock or lawn chairs with ottomans. A new, solid wood picnic table has been added.
For entertainment, we have two, top-of-the-line Sony High Defintion televisions with surround sound and DVD players, one in the master suite. We also have Dish Network and DVR so you won't miss any of your favorite shows or sporting events. I have recorded several concerts and movies so you can enjoy at your leisure.
Interior designer Carolina Alling and her husband Mark have created the perfect balance in our house. They kept the old, warm feel and added high quality design and furnishings. Send me an e-mail, and I'll send you more photos of what we created at 207 Sopris in Crested Butte.

Here are some comments from our guest book:
--'I was in heaven with the new addition upstairs. We 'spa-ed'and loved the steam bath. Wow! You did a great job with the remodel. This house is a pleasure retreat and adds to the comfort we feel when we visit Crested Butte.'
--'We will be back. We were truly impressed with the Sopris House.'
--'This has been a vacation to repeat. We have had a terrific time, made even better by such a beautiful, well-equipped place to stay. You have a wonderful home.'
--'You have put so much thought into your charming home. Things we love: big dining table, shelf in front room--so handy, big shower, heavy duty margarita blender, and so much more.'
--'We've stayed in Crested Butte many times before but never in a house this nice.'
--'Your home was all you promised and more. We hated to leave. When my two year old asked what I was doing as I packed, I said, 'We are getting ready to go home,' and she said, 'But Mommy, we are home.'

About Dr. W. Z. Miller III
We live in Charlotte, NC full time and come to Crested Butte five or six times a year (not enough!).
Dr. W. Z. Miller III purchased this House in 2003
Why Dr. W. Z. Miller III chose Crested Butte
We fell in love with Crested Butte in 2002 and bought in 2003. We love the Rockies and have skied all over the west. We didn't think about buying a house in the west until Crested Butte swept us off our feet. We have not regretted it for a second. Best thing we ever did.
What makes this House unique
For winter, the shuttle bus stop to the ski mountain is 200 feet from our front door, and it runs every 15 minutes. The nordic center for cross country skiing is two blocks away. All the great restaurants in town are less than a five minute walk. What can I say about the summer except that Crested Butte is heaven on earth.

Sports & Adventure Activities
There are 6 of us who take a girls trip every year. We were lucky to rent this house during the Arts Festival. It's the perfect location for walking or riding your bike to anywhere in CB.
We all loved the way the Millers tried to keep the "older house feeling." It's truly very charming!
After a long day of hiking The Elks, the beds are so comfy!
I want to definitely stay here again!
A Great Place to Stay!
We visited CB for the month of February 2011 and enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. From the minute we walked into this house we felt at home. The house is beautiful! The photos on the website truly reflect just how nice the house is and the amenities such as the jetted tub and steam shower are first class. The location is perfect.! We walked two blocks to Camp 4 Coffee every morning and only needed to walk around the corner to catch the Mountain Express shuttle for a day of skiing. We walked everywhere whether it was to go shopping, eat at one of the many great restaurants in town or take in a concert at the CB Performing Arts Center! And to top it off, the owners are wonderful hosts. They made themselves available to us by email if we needed anything whether it was how to warm up the heated floors in the MBR or where we should go for a great dinner. It was truly a vacation to remember! We will be back to CB next winter and will certainly rent this wonderful home again.
