Great cabin close to slopes!
The cabin was cozy and as described. It is one house from slopes, so just a short walk to easement which was very nice(especially for our teenagers). The owner was responsive to any questions. We would stay again with our family.
Good cabin. We enjoyed the fireplace.
Overall the cabin was fun and we enjoyed it. The owner was responsive
The owner needs to give more attention to maintenance and preparation to receive guests. 0 Stars.
The bed was comfortable, the water was hot and the housekeeping staff worked hard to make the most of what was available to them.
The not so good.
The house was not ready to occupy when we arrived.
Only one set of towels were ready, others were in the dryer, still damp. The dryer was FULL of 3 sets of bedding and more than 6 large towels. We had to divide the sheets/towels into separate loads to dry and then fold.
The kitchen counter was full of dust, and dishes/flatware in the cupboards were not clean. We had to hand scrub and rewash kitchen items, and there was only a spoonful of caked dishwasher soap available. There was no cutting board, and no decent food prep knives.
We feel that the housekeeping fee should be refunded.
Many of the light fixtures had blown bulbs, and no replacements were available.
The doors on the lower level had been blown open during the storm that afternoon and couldn't be securely closed for 2 days. A dresser was placed in front of the doors to make 'secure' for the duration of our stay, making it difficult to access the second bath without climbing over a bed.
Only the one entrance door on the main level was accessible for entry/exit. The other doors were blocked by furniture, and not acceptable, especially for a building with a fireplace.
The fireplace had issues. The fireplace tools were broken or worn out, and the hearth grate needs replacing. Upon arriving, the fireplace had much water leaking in on the hearth. A handyman was to come the next day to assess and verify that the fireplace was usable, but we never saw one.
We will not stay at this location again, and in the future, will verify that the owner or people responsible for maintenance are local, as the owner was in Florida and had to send a key to enable the door to be fully closed.
Our other two experiences with VRBO properties were excellent.
On Oct-23-17 the date of their arrival a very bad storm with wind strength to blow some doors open had just come through. Previous renter had just checked out the day before and storm caused delay in having house cleaned by their arrival, cleaning was completed on their arrival date, cleaning people made sure everything was taken care to their satisfaction. Only one bulb missing above the range as I personally checked all the light bulbs just 2 weeks prior. There are 3 doors that can be used to come in and out along a set of French doors, the front main door is the one I provide code to come in and out. Fireplace had water come in from storm and professional fireplace repairman stated repair was not needed as it was due to storm and had just received many calls for the same issue.
I will not rent to this renter again, had property for 13 yrs and never encountered a renter that complained this much, he has only rented 3 times from VRBO and these are peoples homes and not hotels. I caution other property owners that these renters are very critical and not worth a negative review.
Perfect for walking to town, trails, restaurants and dog park. Incredible views. Also short uphill walk to skybar.
Good wether and views
The views and weather were amazing, place was nice inside just needs a little TLC outside.
From The Beach to The Beech
I came up for a short skiing holiday from Orange Beach, AL with my family. The weather turned colder so they blew snow on the slopes and we had a great time. The views from this chalet are awesome sitting at the top of Beech Mountain. It is not a true ski in/out because you have to walk down the road to gain access to a blue run. Then the walk back up it a couple of hundred yards. The chalet was clean and nice with a few minor things wrong but overall it was a nice stay.
The property is 1 house away from the slopes, there is an allowed easement/access between the houses making it a ski in ski out chalet.
House is located up the road that runs behind the Beech Mountain police station, 132 skiloft rd, Beech Mountain, NC
