About Heather Kehoe

This is a family-run business. Thea Rumford and daughter, Heather Kehoe, manage this beautiful mountain home. The photo is of Heather and Thea on the deck of the Chalet in the summertime.

Fred and Thea Rumford have owned this charming mountain home since 1966 when it was built as a weekend getaway for their family. Skiing is a large part of their lives. They have raised their children to grow up with a tremendous appreciation for the alpine lifestyle. They take great joy in now seeing their grandchildren follow in the ski tracks of their parents.

Thea says, 'The character of Chalet du Soleil is incomparable and is sure to please.'

The Rumfords also take pride in upgrading and maintaining their beautiful home each year.

Chalet du Soleil is a cozy mountain retreat in the charming Lionshead Village of Vail. With a gorgeous view of the Gore Range Mountains and prime proximity to the gondolas and the village, whether you’ve come for a weekend hibernation or to shred some slopes with the clan, the Chalet promises to serve up to your needs. The painstaking care shows in the details, like a fully-stocked kitchen, complete with a fridge and pantry full of the basics, and all the accoutrements needed to whip up your own homemade meals. And let’s not forget the adorable customized toiletries in every bathroom. The cubs were delighted to find a game cupboard full of puzzles and board games, as well as a cabinet full of novels, all of which (in addition to the in-suite Jacuzzi!) offer a relaxing alternative to any of the more wild outdoor adventures. But where’s the fun without a little adventure? With three floors, and sleeping 10+, feel free bring the whole gang along on your mountain excursion! The house is a short walk from the gondolas and the heart of Lionshead, right off the “Born Free” ski run, perfect for tourists without transportation looking to have some fun. Location is excellent, the perfect launching point and home base for your Vail adventure, whether that be hiking, mountain-biking, skiing, etc.! Owners were kind and responsive, location was great, and the home was well-appointed. The Bear Family paws-itively adored their trip, and would certainly stay here again!

Perfect home for family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year for a family summer vacation at Chalet du Soleil and we had another wonderful time. The house is spacious and comfortable and feels like home. It was perfect for our family of 10 (6 adults and 4 children). It had everything we could possibly need, including a pack-n-play for the newest member of our family. The location is ideal so we were able to walk everywhere. Heather is always so pleasant and helpful and we have enjoyed working with her. We plan to return next summer.

Enjoyed our family ski trip

  • 5 of 5

We rented and shared this lovely home with my sister and her family. There was plenty of room for all 10 of us. We enjoyed being able to come and go without having to get in our car. We even skied home for lunch most days. In addition, my son left his wallet under a bed upstairs and Heather went and found it and mailed it to us. Thank you Heather, we look forward to coming back to Chalet du Soleil.

Wonderful spring break

  • 5 of 5

BeautIful house with great location in Vail. Big family room with seating for everyone. Well stocked kitchen and great outdoor grill that we used to grill burgers one night. Most convenient for skiers since it's located right off the run and a car is not required to take or pick up skiers. Also. Loved the jacuzzi tub after a long day of skiing!

Great accommodations and ultra convenient location!

  • 5 of 5

Heather was a pleasure to deal with and made sure that we had everything for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen was fully equipped and even had a crockpot which was perfect to prepare a warm meal for the end of great day skiing. I will definitely be contacting Heather for future ski trips to Vail. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their stay and can't wait to go back.

Wonderful Family Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful and comfortable home! We arrived late in the evening to a well equipped, clean and fun home. We were thrilled to find wine and cheese waiting for us after a long day of travel. We woke to enjoy views of the mountain and the ski lifts. The chalet is steps away from Lionshead and the ski lifts- Heather made herself available to recommend ski runs for a family with different levels of ability. We had a fire several nights (firewood is provided) and the kitchen was fully equipped, including champagne glasses, which we used for morning mimosas. I would recommend this home to anyone. Enjoy!!

TOP NOTCH SERVICE, 110% SATISFACTION

  • 5 of 5

I can honestly say, that i have never had a host contact us before (scheduling, directions, preparations), during (made sure everything was going smoothly), and after (made sure we left happy, and informed us that we forgot something which she was willing to ship back to us). Heather was such an excellent host, I would definitely come back and stay here. the house is less than a 5 minute walk (slight incline) to the ski trail which you can ski down to lionshead village in less than 30 seconds at the bottom of the mountain, where the lift/gondola is. House had everything we needed. Thanks again heather!!
