Our cozy cottage sits on 2 private acres, ready for you to enjoy. Our cottage is tastefully decorated and boasts a complete kitchen, so dine in, or dine out and taste some of the delicious local food. The front porch and back deck are great places to relax and enjoy the views, and to share a good bottle of local wine. Find us on Facebook as well.

There are two bedrooms downstairs, one with with a queen bed and the other with a day bed with trundle bed. Upstairs is a suite; a bedroom with a queen bed, a sitting area, and bathroom. The closest brewery is the Devil's Backbone 15 min away, with Wintergreen skiing, tubing, snowboarding and other activities up the mountain from there. The brewery count is at 7 within an easy drive. Wineries abound in this area, with at least 23 open for wine tasting.

There's river rafting and tubing on the James within 40 min.

About Karin C
I am a wife, mother, and speech pathologist who loves to travel with family and friends. We live in Virginia near Richmond and travel to the mountains for hiking and enjoyment of nature on a regular basis. When not traveling in these mountains, we enjoy travel to the beaches, California and anywhere exciting.

Why Karin C chose Roseland
We have taken weekend trips to the Blue Ridge Mountains over a hundred times with occasional longer trips. We've stayed at virtually every bed and breakfast in the area which lead us to getting our own place, making it quaint, cozy and cool so we and others can enjoy it. We learned a lot about what makes a place feel so inviting and charming and put what we learned into the Cottage at Massies Mill.
What makes this Cottage unique
Relaxing on the front porch or the back deck is perfect. There's plenty of seating on the front porch to take in the mountain air, view the sites, and even have dinner there. The back deck is just as nice with a view of the countryside. You might notice the unusual and distinctive flooring and trim throughout the cottage; it came from the old Tye River Train Station that was nearby when the Virginia Blue Ridge Railway was in operation. Our cottage can sleep up to 8, but it's not too big just for two people; there's the upstairs suite (bedroom, sitting area and bathroom) as nice as a honeymoon suite. The kitchen is great for cooking with plenty of space, some scones mixes, other culinary supplies, and an island to give you that extra space for preparing a delicious meal. The cottage is nicely located with hiking to the left, dining, beer and wine to the right, and skiing and golf straight ahead.

It was a cute and cozy cottage. Loved it.
We enjoyed our stay here. It had everything we needed. Felt like home. Warm and cozy. The sunset was amazing and views of the mountains too. We were able to prepare dinners with ease with all the pots and pans we needed. Beds were comfortable. Close to ski resort. Only two things, were upstairs was really warm but I brought a fan plus ceiling fan helped too and the upstairs shower a little small. Overall, an excellent property and would rent again and recommend to others.
Thank you Melissa- we hope to see you again- Karin and Brad
Wonderful Christmas away from home.
We wanted to escape for Christmas this year. Stayed for two nights (Dec 22 & 23). We throughly enjoyed the quietness and cleanliness of the cottage. I told my wife it reminded me of visiting my Aunt Mary's as a kid back in the 50's and 60's. Aunt Mary always has a spotless house with dark wood floors that shined, with furniture and decorations in every corner. That describes this house. Karin very thoughtfully decorated the house with cheerful Christmas decorations that made the holiday even more like home.
The home is situated in a beautiful area with plenty of activity for all interests. The home has almost anything you would need should you forget something. We were completely satisfied and recommend this home to anyone who wants a clean, quite place to stay.
Thanks for the kind words Dan -
We are happy that you had a great Holiday stay, and we hope to hear from you again if you are in the area.

My Blue Ridge Mountain Home
We rented this cottage to attend a nearby music festival and the place was so comfortable and homey that we had a hard time getting out the door for the music everyday. Having coffee on the porch, looking out at the mountains was lovely, the furnishings so inviting, and the beds so cozy... we could have just stayed around the house all day. This was by far the nicest place we have stayed in our 5 years of visiting the area, so we will be back on future visits. Thank you Karin!
Thank you Lynn, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay, and look forward to having you come back!
A wonderful house with elegant charm!
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage! We loved drinking coffee and watching the birds in the morning on the front porch. We had a great time hiking local trails and coming back and building a fire for making smores. Kids had a blast running around outside! Thank you for great hospitality!!
Thanks for staying with us Kirsten!
