Overview

About the property

Sage Cabin - Beautiful one-bedroom cabin just minutes from Yosemite Valley

Yosemite Hilltop Cabins are located within the gates of Yosemite National Park in the tiny community of Foresta. It is hard to believe that such a quiet and peaceful place like this exists just fifteen minutes from the sometimes bustling Yosemite Valley.

NOTE – This listing is for the Sage Cabin. The listing and availability calendar for the Lupin Cabin is also on VRBO/HomeAway under property number 115073. Both cabins are on the same property, have the same floor plan, and are furnished almost identically.

The cabins are very private. Even though the Sage and Lupin Cabins are located next to each other they are oriented to maintain maximum privacy. Each cabin has 17-foot-tall wood beam ceilings with ceiling fans and lots of windows to take advantage of the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. When you are at the cabins you can see the top of El Capitan, Yosemite's world famous 3000 ft tall granite cliff.

Each cabin has a master bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and down comforter. They also have a full bath, full kitchen, and reading loft. Each cabin also has its own patio with a high quality Weber gas barbecue

When you arrive at your cabin there will be fresh linens on the bed and clean towels in the bathroom. There will be brand-name shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. You will only need to bring food, clothes, and personal toiletry items.

Fantastic hiking and running trails with wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife can be accessed right from the cabins.

Each cabin has a TV/DVD player. The TV has no programming, DVD only. There is a small DVD library to pick from or you can bring your own movies.

The kitchen has all the cookware and dinnerware that you will need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen also has a microwave oven, toaster, blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker.

The cabins are heated in the winter by propane heaters that look like wood-burning stoves. Both cabins have air conditioning for your summer comfort.

Some cell phones work at the cabins. Verizon is the best. Each cabin has a land-line telephone for use during your stay.

There is satellite internet provided by HughesNet. There is a cap on the amount of bandwidth that is available. PLEASE DO NOT STREAM MOVIES OR WATCH VIDEOS AS IT WILL IMPACT GUESTS THAT ARRIVE AFTER YOU.

As of November 2014 there is no longer a hot tub at the cabins. It was a tough decision but keeping the hot tub clean and in working order finally became too much.

Current Yosemite road and weather conditions can be found by calling Yosemite National Park at 209-372-0200. Current road conditions in the State of California can be found by calling Caltrans at 800-427-7623.

The cabin was a good choice for the total Yosemite experience

  • 5 of 5

Before our arrival Steve had sent clear instructions on how to find the cabin which helped enormously. However due to the fires happening at that time electricity at the cabin had been cut off which meant no lights and no running water for our first night.

Luckily for us Steve and Karen were staying in the next door cabin and were on hand with candles and torches. They could not do enough for us while apologising for a situation which was out of their hands.

So the next day the electricity came back on and Karen surprised us with coffee and breakfast which was much appreciated.

The cabin is cosy and clean with ample amenities to be self sufficient. As an added bonus we saw a family of deers outside our door. It is situated just outside the valley which made for a more authentic experience.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay regardless of initial hiccups due to the fire.

After seeing the valley hotels we feel we definitely felt we made the right choice.

Great cabin very close to Yosemite

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great time spending 5 nights at the Sage cabin. My daughters enjoyed sleeping in the loft (even though the sofa bed was available), and the king bed was great for my wife and I. It was only 20-30min to the valley, but it is also well located to get to Tioga road if you head up to the high country. We enjoyed using the grill and eating outdoors on the patio. Highly recommended!

P.S. The yosemite market is actually well stocked and not too expensive, but we did some grocery shopping on our way in in Oakdale.

Quiet, well equipped cottage

  • 5 of 5

Great, well equipped cottage away from the busy valley, but close enough for easy access to all the main attractions of Yosemite.

Excellent Cabin. Close to the Valley.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin for 5 nights and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. All the accommodations as stated, with all top of the line appliances. Cabin was very comfortable and a nice retreat from all the crowds in the Valley. We had a small bree problem in the grill. But Steve was right on top of the problem. Would definitely stay there again.

Comfortable, quiet cabin

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our first visit to Yosemite. The cabin was an easy 30-minute (no traffic when we were there) drive into the valley, and about an hour to Tuolumne Meadows. It was well-equipped with kitchen appliances, and the pots, pans, and cutlery were clean and useable. Steve and his family were very welcoming and accommodating.
