Overview

About the property

Lupin Cabin - Beautiful one-bedroom cabin just minutes from Yosemite Valley

Yosemite Hilltop Cabins are located within the gates of Yosemite National Park in the tiny community of Foresta. It is hard to believe that such a quiet and peaceful place like this exists just fifteen minutes from the sometimes bustling Yosemite Valley.

NOTE – This listing is for the Lupin Cabin. The listing and availability calendar for the Sage Cabin is also on VRBO/HomeAway under property number 815550. Both cabins are on the same property, have the same floor plan, and are furnished almost identically. We created a separate listing for the Sage Cabin in early February 2016 so reviews for both cabins are on this listing prior to that date.

The cabins are very private. Even though the Sage and Lupin Cabins are located next to each other they are oriented to maintain maximum privacy. Each cabin has 17-foot-tall wood beam ceilings with ceiling fans and lots of windows to take advantage of the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. When you are at the cabins you can see the top of El Capitan, Yosemite's world famous 3000 ft tall granite cliff.

Each cabin has a master bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and down comforter. They also have a full bath, full kitchen, and reading loft. Each cabin also has its own patio with a high quality Weber gas barbecue

When you arrive at your cabin there will be fresh linens on the bed and clean towels in the bathroom. There will be brand-name shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. You will only need to bring food, clothes, and personal toiletry items.

Fantastic hiking and running trails with wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife can be accessed right from the cabins.

Each cabin has a TV/DVD player. The TV has no programming, DVD only. There is a small DVD library to pick from or you can bring your own movies.

The kitchen has all the cookware and dinnerware that you will need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen also has a microwave oven, toaster, blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker.

The cabins are heated in the winter by propane heaters that look like wood-burning stoves. Both cabins have air conditioning for your summer comfort.

Some cell phones work at the cabins. Verizon is the best. Each cabin has a land-line telephone for use during your stay.

There is satellite internet provided by HughesNet. There is a cap on the amount of bandwidth that is available. PLEASE DO NOT STREAM MOVIES OR WATCH VIDEOS AS IT WILL IMPACT GUESTS THAT ARRIVE AFTER YOU.

As of November 2014 there is no longer a hot tub at the cabins. It was a tough decision but keeping the hot tub clean and in working order finally became too much.

Current Yosemite road and weather conditions can be found by calling Yosemite National Park at 209-372-0200. Current road conditions in the State of California can be found by calling Caltrans at 800-427-7623.

Grocery Stores/Markets near cabins – Crane Flat Gas Station/Market (8 miles), Yosemite Village Market (13 miles), El Portal Market on Hwy 140 (14 miles).

Great Yosemite location!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin had everything we needed for two adults and a 5 year old. The location was great. Inside the park so we didn't have to wait in line at the gate and not too far from the valley. The gravel drive on the way pretty bumpy in a few spots but we just went real slow over the bumps and it wasn't a problem. I was also able to take some milky way photos over the cabin.

Little piece of Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Great fully equipped cabin close but out of the hustle and bustle of the valley. Steve has not only thought of all you will need to make your stay feel like at home but he is also available for useful tips and advice. Some of the local hikes and swimming spots away from the crowds of the Valley were some of our most enjoyable moments. Being so close allowed us to be first on many of the more popular trails like the mist trail and Half dome which made all the difference, Thanks again for sharing your secret spot with us.

Excellent cabin inside Yosemite national park

  • 5 of 5

Lupin cabin is represented perfectly by the pictures on the Internet, it is the same in person, excellent cabin! Located inside the park, but yet away from the traffic jams in the valley. Private, peaceful, all the amenities you need. Superbly comfortable king size mattress, pillows that form to your head unlike the bouncy castle pillows some places have, and soft, cool to the touch 100% cotton sheets! Did I mention they have a REAL coffee pot ( nearly extinct in rentals these days!) 12 cupper too! Bring your favorite coffee and enjoy the mornings on the spacious patio. Thanks for the wonderful cabin Steve.

Cozy Cabin Retreat

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is in a beautiful, peaceful area about a 25-30 minute drive to Yosemite Village (if there is little traffic). It was clean and well stocked. Nicely equipped kitchen, the mattress in the bedroom was VERY comfortable, and the shower was great. Good WiFi. Steve was very responsive. Great birding in the neighborhood, and the walk from the cabin to Foresta Falls is spectacular. The lupins were in bloom at the entrance to Foresta Road, and it was a delightful welcome every time we returned home from the park. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

P.S. Get to the Valley early (before 9am) if you want to get a parking space. It is very crowded. But, Yosemite is heaven on earth!
