Nice relaxing getaway! Beautiful lake & nice cottage, the only negatives were the weather (cold front) and not too thrilled about the only public boat launch on Gunlock lake.
A great week away
My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Loon's Nest! Anne was kind, responsive, and accommodating. The guest cabin was adequate while the land and lake were simply beautiful. We used the included watercraft to fish and kayak and sat by the fire pit nearly every evening. Thanks for allowing us this experience!
Thanks for leaving the place in such good order, Ian. Come back any time!
Although we didnt need it, the top bunk could not be used (sign Indicated) . Description of property said bunk beds (plural). Overall..excellent
So glad your guys had a good time, Elaine. My property manager told me they left the cottage in tip-top shape. FYI, the VRBO property description does note that the maximum number of guests is three.
I loved the location of this house. It is on a quiet back road in the midst of the woods, on the lake. Close enough to town & restaurants. Great area to enjoy the fall colors.
Autumn in the Northwoods
Beautiful setting - very quiet and peaceful! Great sunsets across the lake with loons, eagles, pillared woodpeckers, black squirrels and deer as regular visitors. Caught some real nice perch off the end of the pier as a bonus! Would definitely come back!
So glad you had a good time. Just let me know when you'd like to make a return engagement!
Minocqua is one of Wisconsin's most popular vacation destinations. In the heart of the North Woods, with dozens of lakes in the area, it's a paradise for those who love to kayak, fish, bike, hike, waterski, go for cocktail cruises, or simply read a book on the dock. This property is a perfect combination of quiet privacy, a big beautiful lake, and a short drive to town. Downtown Minocqua is just 10 minutes away but the lack of drive-by traffic or other cottages makes it feel like you're in your own little world. And you're on the 1,100-acre Shishebogama/Gunlock lake chain, home to muskies, walleyes, northerns, bass and panfish galore. In other words, you're pretty close to heaven.
