Host interaction/ messages day of check in could have been much better. We weren't given access codes in a timely manner. Host admitted he operates many VRBO style homes and for some reason our "email" didn't get sent. I wish all communication was through VRBO rather than personal e-mail.
It is my second time renting this place. My family had a lot of fun especially at the game room. All the rooms look clean. I also like the newly renovated bathroom. Kitchen is fully uquipped with the essentials. The only complain I have is that the bathroom next to the kitchen has no lock.
the home was great but we had no contact with our host. when we turned on the oven it smelled like gas. The patio furniture should have been set up for us instead of having to dig around looking for the cushions. there was no instructions on the game room and we could not gain access to it until day 2. We did make the best of it but i don't think we will stay there again.
The house is beautiful and well laid out for a 3 story. The kitchen, dining, and family room area were great for our group with a wrap around port in beautiful scenery. The game room was great in the cool mornings. There is no ac, but open the windows and use the whole houae fan at night for the cool to last through the day if you close the windows early enough, especially the lowest story, which was cool all day. They had less streaming services than listed, but we figured it out. The host responded about 1x a day by email, but we had no emergencies.
Our extended family enjoyed a lovely week at the cabin. It was spacious and ideally located for us, with different groups coming from across the North, South, and East Bay Area. We especially enjoyed the separate game room and large deck areas. Communication with Thomas was prompt and thorough - no problems at all during our stay. Would definitely return for our annual family summer trip and recommend to others.

I am so glad to hear such positive comments. We want everyone to enjoy the place as much as us.
Our family celebrated my mom’s 90th birthday, requiring 2 VRBOs. This cabin was our favorite. The baths have been beautifully remodeled, as well as the well equipped kitchen. We loved the sturdy rustic dining table and the game room. Checkout requirements are lengthier than most but understandable.
If you're looking for a cozy and peaceful escape, this vacation rental is the place.
We had the pleasure of staying at this charming vacation rental, and it was the perfect blend of coziness and calm. Nestled on 6 acres of peaceful, private land, it felt like a true escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Our favorite spot was the beautiful deck, where we all enjoyed our morning coffee and relaxed in the evenings, surrounded by the calming beauty of nature. Inside the house space was warm and adequate. Kitchen fulfilled all our cooking needs.
The best part was how affordable the stay was, considering everything the home offered. It was a fantastic getaway and absolutely recommended!
There a very small amount of discoloration in the middle bathroom on some areas of the grout. I am a General Contractor and people need to be carefuly when they talk about mold!! It can't be cleaned !! It is a stain!!
Nevertheless, We have been planning for years to remodel the kitchen, the last bathroom and replace the deck. This is being done in April and May which is currently blocked out on our calender. In addition, we will be making many upgrades to the cabin and game room.

Cozy, large home located in the midst of beautiful pine trees. Although we unfortunately did not get snow for skiing, the home provided a fun game room and spacious kitchen to keep us occupied. We found a local Christmas tree farm and the owner of the rental allowed us to bring a fresh cut tree into the home to celebrate an early Christmas. The owner graciously offered to dispose of it after we left. Overall it was the perfect spot for a family reunion and we would definitely rent again if we were in the area.

Beautiful property!
We had a very nice family vacation! Overall the house is well stocked and comfortable. The dogwoods blooming were beautiful!
We did find some of the sheets in the laundry room and needed to wash them to have all the sheets we needed. (My email to the owner never received a response.) There are also several discrepancies between instructions posted at the house and what we were sent by email. The biggest surprise was the cleaners showing up at 10am when we were told 11am for checkout. Also, pictures should be updated...mainly that the deck is no longer covered.

Almost WAS but did'nt quite make it
We arrived at this location around 4:30 in the afternoon..It was very warm..The directions were accurate from Thomas..What was not accurate was the musty mildew smell upon opening the front door. No air conditioning, but fans in various closets. We were with our 95 year old father and did not expect the narrow stairways . This made it necessary to go outside to bring him upstairs. We stayed downstairs with him as my sister and her husband were on the main floor as she could not negotiate the stairs. The downstairs bathroom smelled of mold and there was mildew on the floor. Also a resident lizard in my Dads closet..
The main porch did not have the outdoor furniture shown in the photos and also no umbrella for the table. As far as a pond it had about a foot and a half of brown liquid in it, nothing you would want to get wet in. The grounds were in need of watering and we saw no fruit trees just mildewed sweetpeas.
The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had what we needed for our needs. It was a very quiet location and the trees were wonderful
I would not recomend this house to 55+ people at all.

Immediately after reading this review I had my cleaning person go into action, along with my Pest control company. We found that the mildew smell is not from mold or mildew at all, but coming from the basement wall which apparently has a musty smell; nevertheless it has been scheduled to be sealed the week of 8/25/2013. Along with the repair of the pond in the same week. However, the staircase is up to code and does have adequate space and railings. In addition, I am looking into installing elevators and ramps outside for more accessibility for handicap and the elderly. As always I advised my guests to have anyone with disabilities to stay on the middle floor which provides better access to kitchen and bathroom. The umbrella has been replaced and the furniture is located in the upstairs bedroom.

Secluded and spacious
My group of nine men stayed for three nights at this property, and we really enjoyed the experience. We like to play board games and musical instruments, cook gourmet meals, relax, and get away from the stress for a few days. We would definitely come back here to stay again. Here are my impressions of the pros and cons of this property for my group:
PROS
- Very spacious, with a large deck and courtyard area. Thomas allowed us to bring an enclosed fire pit, which made mornings and evenings cozy with a nice rustic feel.
- Secluded and out of sight of neighbors. Pretty quiet, but we heard the occasional car driving by or honking geese at the neighbor down the street.
- Plenty of beds, plus extra floor space for sleeping bags and air mattresses. Beds were quite comfortable, although a couple are twin size and not suitable for taller men.
- The game room is a real nice feature, as it's detached from the house, and we used it to play music in without disturbing the neighbors.
- Kitchen is generally well set up, with decent appliances. We didn't use the gas grill, but it looks to be good quality even though it was pretty grimy. We also didn't use the charcoal kettle but might in the future.
- Large dining table fits 9 men for meals...10 would be a real squeeze if we tried it.
- Bathrooms are modern and clean with nice showers.
- There is actually parking space for up to 8 vehicles.
- The landline phone provided was nice to have in case we needed it, since we couldn't get cell service in the area.
- There are stores nearby to purchase supplies if needed.
- Thomas, the owner, is very responsive and helpful.
CONS
There are not really any true "cons," but here are some features that you might want to know about.
- Even though the property is large, it is heavily wooded with underbrush and not really suited for trail hiking or biking. If we wanted to do that, there are plenty of places in the area to hike and bike, but you have to drive 15-30 minutes away and we didn't want to spend the time to do that. The pond and creek are accessible for young kids to entertain themselves.
- The owner asks guests to take off their shoes in the house. Not exactly an unreasonable request, but can be inconvenient when going in and out.
- The photos of the property show a "nearby creek," but we didn't see that and don't know where it is or how nearby it is.
We met up with our family & friends. This beautiful property was perfect for a big group. Plenty of areas to hang out inside and out. Beautiful views. We loved sitting on the front porch.
This property provided us with plenty of room for our family for Thanksgiving. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was well equipped and lots of room. We especially enjoyed the game room with the pool table and shuffle board and TV for all the sports fans! The property is very private and we enjoyed walking on the very quiet but hilly roads nearby.
We would definitely rent this house again.
We had 10 guys over 60 for a golf/games weekend. The property fit our needs. One side of the deck we blocked off because there was so much “pitch/sap” on it, we were afraid to bring it into the house. The game room was quite the hit!

No AC, beware of heat waves
Not the owners fault but our big college reunion group didn't catch that there was no AC in the house. We happened to be there during a heat wave so I'm sure it's fine when it's in the 90s but since we were in 106+ weather the whole time the house was pretty hot. Again- our mistake for not catching the lack of AC and it's only a problem if you're unlucky and are staying here during a heat wave. Other than that, the house was nothing fancy but met our needs. The house and game room needs maintenance and repairs and it could have been cleaner but we know we didn't pay top dollar so as long as you go in knowing that it's not going to be impeccable then you'll enjoy your stay!
The owner Thomas was so easy to work with and returned messages immediately! The photos of the property should be updated as there are a few things that are not as you would expect. The property is older but was perfect for what we were looking for, peace & quiet. Even without A/C, having a whole house fan, it kept the house cool enough to get out of the heat. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the great communication.
