Two Bed Two Bath Victorian Apt-St. Chas streetcar & Magazine shops/local bus
You will adore staying in this lovely as well as immaculate first floor apartment, one of three--it is turnkey and set up for you with a comfortable and pretty assortment of vintage, modern and antique art, furniture, linens and rugs with all new appliances in the kitchen. Old world details such as high ceilings, tall original windows and hardwood floors enhance this turn-of-the-century apartment that is convenient on foot to Tulane and Loyola Universities, Audubon Park and uptown shopping, restaurants, entertainment and transportation.
The apartment foyer features a French wall tree and Louis XV-style leather chairs so that you have a place to put your jackets, hats, umbrellas, keys and packages when you come in. From this space, you enter the combination living and dining room which is lit by a huge 60's Italian, gilt metal chandelier. You can visit with friends or watch the flat screen TV on a comfy, down-filled, linen-covered sofa or from the two equally comfy, slipcovered wing chairs. The dining area boasts an oval vintage dining table with places to seat 6 of you. Both bedrooms suites are large and the beds are made up with all cotton linens--either one could be a master bedroom.
The first bedroom has a kingsize bed, expansive bedside tables, a vanity/desk, a Louis Philippe gentlemen's cabinet with flatscreen TV, large sofa for relaxing or reading or that can function as another bed for a 5th adult, wool rug to soften the wood floors and sounds, 2 closets and built-in bookshelves with loads of books including New Orleans related books along with an ensuite bathroom.
The second bedroom has extra-long twin beds with a decoratively painted vintage chest, antique marble-topped bedside tables, a desk or vanity, a seating area of upholstered Thai silk, club chairs, Victorian tall chest with a flatscreen TV on top, walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom.
Both bedrooms overlook either a garden or patio area and have ceiling fans. All the bed linens are all cotton and you have a selection of feather or regular pillows. Each bedroom has a petite ensuite bathroom of a tub/shower, vanity and toilet and is supplied with all cotton towels.
The kitchen was updated in 2015 and has stainless appliances including a washer and dryer that can accommodate large loads and a breakfast area set up with a flatscreen TV, Louisiana cypress table, Mid-Century modern chairs and a gargantuan Belgian antique church clock. The kitchen looks out onto a courtyard. Plans are in the works to expand the courtyard to provide an entertainment area.
The front garden has sweet area with a tile and limestone patio and a bench. We have plans to expand the furnishings for this space adding another bench and a chair. There's an orange tree, perennials and a tall, leafy hedge surrounding the front providing a nice private space from the street.
This apartment lives large with flexible and expansive interior and outdoor living spaces--perfect for professionals, a family or two couples in town for business, a wedding, a family reunion or a vacation to our fantastic city. This is where the locals live and you'll be near the Prytania theatre, one of the oldest, operating movie theaters in the U.S. (2 blocks) special matinees, late night showings and mainstream films. At the nearby shopping village (3-4 blocks), you'll find several very good restaurants like Upperline Restaurant, Chez Nous Charcuterie, La Thai Uptown, St. James Cheese Company, and the Flying Pig. For cold desserts, there's Creole Creamery which has homemade ice cream and Pinkberry, a local frozen yogurt place. Keep in mind, New Orleans is a foodie town and has over 1600 restaurants from which to choose and these restaurants are all very good. CVS is the drugstore, Zara's Lil Giant Supermarket & Po-boys is the grocery store, there's a wine & spirits merchant The Wine Seller who delivers and two banks with ATMs. And this is just on Prytania Street! Walk to Magazine Street and you'll find 6 miles of boutiques, restaurants and both local and a few big box stores including Whole Foods. There's a bus line that will take you all the way downtown and to the Quarter or in the opposite direction, to Audubon Park and the Zoo. Or, hop on the historic streetcar (4-6 blocks) to meander your way up or down majestic St. Charles Avenue or call Uber. Cable, Wi-Fi and Utilities included. Housekeeping is available daily if requested for a daily fee.

Originally from New Orleans, our family has lived all around the world including Germany, Egypt, Greece, Belgium, UK, Bolivia, Columbia, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and China as well as many other states including Florida, Texas, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Washington D. C., Illinois and North Carolina but if you know anything about New Orleanians, we always come back to our city. We love to travel and meeting new people is a pleasure.

We purchased this property because it's near to our home, we wanted a place to house family members and its also near to everything we love including the streetcar and local bus. Living Uptown gives you the best of both worlds: a quiet, historic neighborhood near to shopping on Magazine and Prytania Streets, St. Charles Avenue streetcar and Audubon Park. We love older homes because they were built with quality and care, the ceilings are high with shiny wood floors, cypress doors and nice size windows.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love the craftsmanship of our home plus it is in the best neighborhood in New Orleans near to the things we cherish such as the Prytania Theater built in 1933 and beautiful Audubon Park. In New Orleans, we enjoy outdoor living most of the year. The ground floor apartment has a nice size front porch with side breezes and a pretty cottage garden-something is always blooming! It's also nice for people and dog watching. You'll meet many of the neighbors that way.

Great place to stay Uptown!
We were very happy at Kathleen’s house. There is plenty of space to spread out and relax inside and out. I loved the front porch! The beds were comfortable and although we didn’t cook, the kitchen had everything you would want. Location is great! We hope to be back.
Great Stay in a Gorgeous Unit
We had a wonderful stay at Kathleen's unit. It is beautiful, comfortable and located in a great neighborhood within walking distance to wonderful shops and restaurants. Kathleen was very helpful and communicative throughout our stay. The unit was stocked with every comfort from home and all kinds of thoughtful amenities. We appreciated the beautiful fresh flowers throughout as well. We hope to visit again soon!

Location can’t be beat!

My fiance and I truly enjoyed our entire stay in uptown with Kathleen. She was such a gracious host and was always so quick to respond if we needed anything. The house is so close to both the street car line and restaurants that we never really needed to take a cab/uber if we didn't want to.
Walk three blocks to historic St. Charles Avenue and catch the streetcar either to the CBD and the French Quarter. You'll see gorgeous mansions, most of which are still lived in by single families. This lovely apartment is near to one of the oldest cinemas in America, the Prytania as well as to the Prytania Street shopping area with multiple restaurants such as The Upperline Restaurant run by creative genius JoAnne Clevenger, La Thai Uptown-yummy!, Chez Nous Charcuterie-cozy and good, St. James Cheese Company-great for lunch!, Creole Creamery-delicious, homemade ice cream, Pinkberry-make your own healthy frozen yogurts, Zara's Lil Giant Supermarket and Po-Boys-for picking up most items and of course, po-boys (New Orleans sandwich made on french bread), The Wine Seller, a wine and spirits merchant, beauty treatment spas such as Paris Parker and Premier Nails-I go to both of them!, CVS drugstore-it's where I go as well. (And, if you need groceries or meals delivered, we can set that up for you.) Over sixty blocks of shopping, restaurants plus the bus line is four blocks away on Magazine Street. One of my favorite activities is picking a section of Magazine and perusing the stores especially the home/decor, gift and antique shops like Hazelnut and Empire, Kevin Stone Antiques and the Antiques Mall. New Orlean's prices and selection are better than anywhere!
